Wow what a story Sir. I feel sad for the poor tribal guy for missing his family gun.
Many firearms in India disappeared in this same way due to negligence of officials. I too heard similar story long ago. Once there was an old watchman in our construction site who was from a village where he had many hunting experience with his father with their old muzzle loader. Later when his father died the inheritance of family firearms licence was refused outright due to his poverty status in the name of controlling and restricting firearms act.
Even in our family my uncle's expensive rifle disappeared in the name of custody after his demise as there was no male heir to claim it in his family. Poor system with intended corruption in India. Let us pray for better future with modified and refined law for firearms.
