i wish the video was longer, with longer pauses on each picture, they all tell a million stories and the places, we would love to all know the places, some i know, but to people outside of ireland, they'd be like where the feck is that ? lol thanks for the video, really enjoyed it.
Cheers but unfortunately I'm not on Facebook anymore because I decided to exit Facebook since late May 2015. I just found it too complicating, confusing and stressful like there are far too many information about people's personal lives. I used to enjoy using Facebook and it used to be fun and exciting for myself but NOT anymore. I'm really sorry about that. Anyway Facebook can be very boring and there are lots of crap 💩 on Facebook as well. Facebook is a real time waster and so are Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram I guess. From now on I dislike Facebook and I don't like Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram either.
It always amazes me how churches, town halls and governmental buildings always remain totally intact and unaffected by city renovations. Certain 'ordinary' areas could well be left intact, also. Greetings from the USA. Good presentation. Thank you.
Great video, thank you. Interesting that Trinity college and certain inner city streets stay very much the same. The most stark image in my opinion was Grafton St @ 1:55. Also interesting to see the military presence around the city and how empty much of the streets were. The saddest image for me though was Smithfield. Granted it wasn't perfect before, but this "modern" urban warehouse of city slaves is depressing. From an aesthetic point of view it looks very unpleasant.
Have a look at the old buildings on Parkgate Street - they're completely different. This shot has been debated on other sites and it has been established as Lord Edward Street.
@@leemoliam8306, I think the OP is right, behind the soldiers is the junction of Infirmary Road and Parkgate Street. It would make more sense to be Parkgate St as Collins Barracks was on Infirmary Rd. www.dailyedge.ie/then-and-now-dublin-photos-1827308-Jan2015/
@@leemoliam8306, btw, great slideshow, at least the so called modern architects and developers didn't get to desecrate all of Dublin in the last 60 years.
@@emmams5 We spent some time on this photo. It had been regularly posted as Infirmary Road, but the background buildings didn't add up. When we checked further, we found the proof - which doesn't show up on our old TH-cam video above. If you contact us through the Dublin Then And Now Facebook page - send us a message - we can show the comparison which proves we're right - it's definitely Lord Edward Street...Liam
Thanks for your great photos!
Thanks Noel - don't forget the Facebook page, which has 2 posts per day.
Great video and music
Excellent photos and great choice of music. Thanks

Old dublin looks a lot better
Yeah, it's hard to beat clouds of dust and smoke, and of course the armed men were a nice touch.

Unfortunately, several of our ornate churches have been destroyed for the sake of progress. We've highlighted a few on our Facebook page.
Excellent
Captions would be useful!
That’s the weirdest elevator music I’ve ever heard. Anyone know what the single word was sung by the backing group?
Please upload more videos Many thanks.
Long before it was the kip you see today 😂 , good video.👍
2:18 is Parkgate St on the left and Lord Edward St on the right

Unfortunately not the same location. This doesn’t take away from a great video though.
