this video kinda hit hard for me. i entered into my first relationship last year at 18, and my partner turned out to be an actual psychopath (gang violence, drug addictions, and an array of untreated mental illnesses) but i was naive and moldable and i ended up moving in with him after 6 months of dating. he had me cut off all of my friends and family and we were planning on getting married. i’m so thankful that my parents intervened and drove up to get me. it’s scary thinking that if they hadn’t done something i would be stuck in a relationship with a crazy abusive narcissist.
I had a very similar thing happen when I just turned 18. I unfortunately didn’t escape that relationship before having a kid by him though. I love my son but hate the fact that it means my ex still has to have some involvement in my life.
You can tell the girl who was kicked out of her home, her girlfriend’s family has been kind to her to let her stay and now she feels obligated to go along and marry her girlfriend but she wants to jump ahead and move out and she has second thoughts but is afraid to voice them.

I'm a gay man, and a boyfriend I had when I was about 17 (I'm 32 now ☠️) asked if I would marry him. We were only together for like 3 months, and I just laughed and said *"Nope."* (I don't even want to get married AT ALL, ever. Period. I never have) A week later, I found out he had been planning OUR F**KING WEDDING??? 🚩🚩 I would be like *"I literally said no."* and he would keep talking to me about plans like I wasn't even talking. He would look me dead in the eyes while I said *"We are never getting married. I said no when you asked. You understand that right?"* And he would just with complete sincerity respond with something like *"What kind of band do you want?"* Ooooh boy, that one needed to be in some kind of institute. I left that psycho REEEEAL quick. I was getting actual physical letters in my mail box for years ☠️☠️☠️☠️ Not to mention all the other psycho stuff I found out about him afterwards. Man, that was intense, I can't believe I escaped that alive! 😂
When they were decorating the tapestry for the wedding, I got flashbacks to 2007-2011 when my friends and I were prepping our class hallway for Spirit Week and helping to decorate for the Pep Rally at the end of it. This feels a lot like two gay teens finding love, while the rates of homophobia increase. I feel like people need to realize, when you're gay, there is a added pressure in the back of your mind about marriage because sadly there IS a chance you could just not be able to do it if you wait too long. Not saying they should have married, but like the video said. One of the dads was homophobic and the girl had to rely on her gfs parents. So being gay, it's completely possible to be cast out of your support network too.
Exactly, this is why it feels more understandable than a straight couple pushing for marriage. It's still a terrible idea, but facing discrimination can make LGBTQ want more legitimacy in their relationship even if it's moving too fast, especially if they are young and inexperienced. When I was 18 and with my first girlfriend I was obsessed with our future and the thought of being able to marry her one day because even if my family disapproved of it there was nothing they could do cause it was a legitimate marriage. It didn't help that same sex marriage wasn't legalized in my state until it was legalized nationwide in 2015, so I wondered if I could ever get married. Thankfully we weren't thinking of actually getting married as teenagers because my life would have been hell considering she was a cheater, she talked down to me, and eventually ghosted me.

Small very very traditional fine arts school (and museum) of only like 300 students, very focused on traditional painting, drawing, print making, and sculpting. But there’s a reason there’s only like 300 students and only like 10 kids a year graduate…they treated many of us like absolute shit and work you to death and no one can ever afford it. Me and my fiancé were so poor and didn’t realize how expensive it was (they did NOT make it clear at the time, and we had literally NO money and despite having no income and no parental support financial aid was of course nowhere near enough to cover it) and we couldn’t get loans because we had no one to co sign them. I guess they felt bad and gave us a full ride scholarship. But of course we ended up not able to do it, we were struggling too much with a lot and the dean at the time was fucking evil and lied to us and seriously screwed us over in so many ways (they have a new dean now though, hopefully he’s better. but also they changed up the higher up staff a million times just while we were there for a few months, something very shady was going on and i believe ppl kept getting fired for shady shit) but I won’t rant on and on to you because I could go on forever about that fucking awful school 💀 but yeah basically they do not give a fuck about disabled people, mentally ill people, poor people, OR people of color (they’ve had their racism issues, like refusing to say anything at all during Black Lives Matter and saying they wanted to “remain neutral” or whatever despite students begging them to say they support their students of color. It’s also predominantly rich white kids tbh so Ofc they don’t care) it sucks because most of the teachers were amazing and so kind and when I could come to class I did learn a lot and enjoyed it. I even discovered how much I like print making because of my time there and a print making teacher I had. and i had so much access to tools and supplies and spaces and art I never would’ve been able to access otherwise. It’s just waaaay too fucking hard and waaay too much money and shady shit happening. It sucks because there’s only so many art schools in philly, and they’re like the only traditional only art school, all of the art schools in philly are very graphic design based which isn’t my thing. But yeah I do not recommend them at all.

When they were decorating the tapestry for the wedding, I got flashbacks to 2007-2011 when my friends and I were prepping our class hallway for Spirit Week and helping to decorate for the Pep Rally at the end of it. My friend's boyfriend proposed when they were both 18. She said yes as long as they waited until after she finished college. They got married a month after graduation. They have been together for over a decade and have four kids. They also both have careers they love as a teacher and a firefighter.

This feels a lot like two gay teens finding love, while the rates of homophobia increase. I feel like people need to realize, when you're gay, there is a added pressure in the back of your mind about marriage because sadly there IS a chance you could just not be able to do it if you wait too long. Not saying they should have married, but like the video said. One of the dads was homophobic and the girl had to rely on her gfs parents. So being gay, it's completely possible to be cast out of your support network too.
Exactly, this is why it feels more understandable than a straight couple pushing for marriage. It's still a terrible idea, but facing discrimination can make LGBTQ want more legitimacy in their relationship even if it's moving too fast, especially if they are young and inexperienced. When I was 18 and with my first girlfriend I was obsessed with our future and the thought of being able to marry her one day because even if my family disapproved of it there was nothing they could do cause it was a legitimate marriage. It didn't help that same sex marriage wasn't legalized in my state until it was legalized nationwide in 2015, so I wondered if I could ever get married. Thankfully we weren't thinking of actually getting married as teenagers because my life would have been hell considering she was a cheater, she talked down to me, and eventually ghosted me.

Something not everyone talks about in the US is how if you’re getting financial aid for school, marriage ruins that. I know I have to wait until I graduate Uni so I don’t lose grants that are helping enormously. If they are truly the love of your life then waiting a couple more years won’t harm your relationship

Small very very traditional fine arts school (and museum) of only like 300 students, very focused on traditional painting, drawing, print making, and sculpting. Very little digital or graphic design at all. But there’s a reason there’s only like 300 students and only like 10 kids a year graduate…they treated many of us like absolute shit and work you to death and no one can ever afford it. Me and my fiancé were so poor and didn’t realize how expensive it was (they did NOT make it clear at the time, and we had literally NO money and despite having no income and no parental support financial aid was of course nowhere near enough to cover it) and we couldn’t get loans because we had no one to co sign them. I guess they felt bad and gave us a full ride scholarship. But of course we ended up not able to do it, we were struggling too much with a lot and the dean at the time was fucking evil and lied to us and seriously screwed us over in so many ways (they have a new dean now though, hopefully he’s better. but also they changed up the higher up staff a million times just while we were there for a few months, something very shady was going on and i believe ppl kept getting fired for shady shit) but I won’t rant on and on to you because I could go on forever about that fucking awful school 💀
but yeah basically they do not give a fuck about disabled people, mentally ill people, poor people, OR people of color (they’ve had their racism issues, like refusing to say anything at all during Black Lives Matter and saying they wanted to “remain neutral” or whatever despite students begging them to say they support their students of color. It’s also predominantly rich white kids tbh so Ofc they don’t care) it sucks because most of the teachers were amazing and so kind and when I could come to class I did learn a lot and enjoyed it. I even discovered how much I like print making because of my time there and a print making teacher I had. and i had so much access to tools and supplies and spaces and art I never would’ve been able to access otherwise. It’s just waaaay too fucking hard and waaay too much money and shady shit happening. It sucks because there’s only so many art schools in philly, and they’re like the only traditional only art school, all of the art schools in philly are very graphic design based which isn’t my thing. But yeah I do not recommend them at all.
