If you look at the Beatles run of albums, you never knew what they would be, each one is it's own unique thing! I feel Band-Maid is like this too, always good, but never predictable. Band-Maid never does a song as filler, but puts as much work in as necessary from each band member on every song, as if that song is going to be the only song they will do. Kanami is a perfectionist, as Japanese culture is known for, but she is also an inspiration, coach, mentor and genius song writer and composer, as well as a great friend to her band mates. I've heard many say Band-Maid is a miracle band, the fates coming together at just the right moment to give us their magical music, and in that way I feel the Beatles are very much the same. Just a thought.

I completely agree and have always looked at their musical arch as being similar to the Beatles. Not in their sound but in their trajectory. Whereas the Beatles started off with Hold Your Hand & Ticket to Ride and evolved to Rocky Raccoon &:Helter Skelter. The Maid's have Be OK & Big Dad to Corralium & No God. And through it all owning the sound at each stage of their evolution, never just putting out filler just for the sake of sound.

The Beatles could play any style of music and turn it into a great song and BAND-MAID can also easily play and arrange their songs in any style of music and make it an absolute pleasure to listen to over and over again just like any Beatles song did for me. Beatles are my favorite band and the Maids are easily next. I grew up with the Beatles as a kid and now I'm growing older with BAND-MAID. Life does not get any better than that 🎸🎸🎸🥁🎤🙂☮️🇨🇦

Brilliant opening! Did Gary write that for you? Ha ha!
Seriously, thanks for you comments on comparisons. Mozart gets compared to Bach, but they wrote at different times and in different styles (at the time W.A. would have thought you were referring to C.P.E. and not J.S.) but they were both creative and innovative. I think current generations don't appreciate the context of The Beatles and why they were such a phenomenon at the time. Ironically, music has narrowed in recent years!

This was commissioned for the season two closing theme for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura. But did you hear the hard panning on the backups? Very much like when The Beatles sent their Masters from EMI to Capitol without instructions and the 4 Tracks got turned into a Stereo Mix with two of the channels hard panned! I'd sure like to find some of that old vinyl. I was a fool to ever let those go! If you haven't seen them yet, Orenji has documentaries on each of the girls backstories. Even if you don't react to them, you should check them out. And don't neglect their April Fool's Day persona BAND-MAIKO's videos. But you're right. Miku's guitar playing, Akane's Double Pedals and MISA's 5-String, that was all learned on the fly after the band had formed.

What can I say? -- best opening to a reaction ever! Also, really enjoyed your elaboration on the Beatles comparison, i.e. not that the two bands are the "same" in terms of sound or songwriting, but rather that they both share a compositional blend of influences that are persistently catchy, constantly engaging, and always evolving. I think that's it. Band-Maid will tinker and experiment, but the result will always be great or at least memorable.

Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid. So exactly whose show was it?
It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘Thx, Rock!

It is not hard to draw parallels between the two bands. My main metric is how many songs they have that keep me engrossed. Band Maid by far has more songs that I listen to over and over. The next artist with many songs is Linda Ronstadt! Then , maybe Elton John. But most of the groups I like have 3/5/10 I can do repeat listens to.

@@RockCandy-ix3nnIt took some ageing and experience to appreciate just how good a singer she is. When I was young, she was just one of many other, I thought, equally fine performers. Now, I feel she is at least, first among equals. Her last album, Adieu False Heart, highlights that. Linda claimed to be at 30% normal, due to her illness. Could have fooled me! Sounded as good as ever.

Great discussion and commentary. It seems both the Beatles and Band-Maid have their own particular sound where a song of theirs heard blind for the first time is recognizable as belonging to that particular band. It's not that the song is a cookie-cutter product of a similar previous song, but rather the spirit and essence of the band is infused into the song itself which makes it recognizable to the listener that that song is from that one certain band. Very few bands can do that consistently, but both the Beatles and Band-Maid have that ability to produce a signature sound that identifies their music as their very own and no one else's.

Excellent play on Band-Maid titles, Rock. Here's one I did a few years ago:
I knew You would Play an Unfair Game. So, What now? Don't You Tell Me to get all Yuragu and Shake That Thrill before we have some kind of Order. I guess you're the One And Only who can Look At Me and say, let's put a Freezer on this Puzzle and go fly to Gion-Cho for a Summer Drive. Don't Let Me Down now and go Hide-and-Seek. You know that The Real Existence is to move Forward, Screaming Freedom with a Smile, all the way to Glory! I mean, YOLO, man! But, wait! If we Don't Apply The Brake now... OMG, I can't stop... I was okay Before Yesterday... Honey? Where's my shrink's phone number...? Where you going? Don't leave me Alone! Honey? HONEY! Damn You Band-Maid!

funny intro - how many BM tunes did you work into that one ? i think i counted 20 ! amazing how the ladies in japan have been putting other rock and metal bands to shame for quite a while now. whoda thunk it ? i introduced a former band mate of mine to LOVEBITES last month and he had never heard of j-rock or j-metal. i bought him the 'clockwork immortality ' as an early xmas present. needless to say his jaw dropped. we had a jr. high rock band in the 60's and he just moved back to the area after 40 years in california. good time to exit that dumpster fire
