Well the pear preserves are completed. This is how much preserves we got with 2 and a half 5 gallon buckets of pears. Okay with a neighbor lady's help she got 13 pint jars of pear preserves and we got 16 pint jars and 4 jars of pear syrup... the pear preserves are absolutely beautiful. Cant wait to put some on a hot buttered biscuit.🤗🥰 Thanks so much for the recipe. Even though my honey and I are Sr Citizens we are Newbies at canning!😉
Recipe and directions: Wash, peel, and then cut pears with an apple cutter. Place pears in a large pot. Add one quart (or one cup per quart for less sweet) of sugar for every two quarts of pears, to the top of the pot. Pour 1/2 cup lemon juice per 2.5 of gallon pears over top. Put the pot in the fridge overnight. Cook pears, stirring constantly until they turn amber and syrup slightly thickens (don't overcook). Heat up jars in 180 degree oven for 10 minutes. Add a cinnamon stick in each jar if you want. Pack pears in jars, then top with juice. Wipe rims, put on lids. Follow hot bath canning procedures and boil for 10 minutes
What a wonderful family daddy. You must be one proud man raised a son wants you and momma to live on for eternity, showing the world his wonderful parents.....who used integrity, built a beautiful home, garden, son, loving, God loving people. It’s beautiful.
Oh my gosh, he's as cute as Momma Joyce! Makes me miss my grandparents and aunts and uncles so much. I love canning fresh food but have never done pears. I can't wait to try this!

Thank you for sharing the recipe and love to hear the conversation between your dad and you. It is so touching and I want to cry for joy! Send our love to your dad and your family 🌹🌹

I can’t wait to watch this... my mother use to make pear preserves...I still have receipt ... there is a art to making them good! I from middle Tennessee
Any idea what breed your tree might be? My parents’ old pear tree died and I’d love to find another…. Yours looks similar and like my parents’ tree produces firm, tart pears…. I don’t like grocery store pears, BTW. THANKS!!
My mama says Frigidaire also. That’s what they learned to call every refrigerator... no matter the brand. Pear preserves are my favorite. I tried to make some one time and I over cooked and had a jar of concrete. 😂 Thanks for sharing. Also...the juice looks thin...does it thicken up some as it cools...like a thickened jelly? Now to go see if my pear tree is gonna produce. Where do y’all live?
Sir I thank you very much for sharing your video with this I wanted to see this again because when I was a kid my mom used to can. As well she made all kind of jellies into preserves and desserts so I wanted to see how it was done again me being older I'm just want to get into it myself compare preserves they were always delicious you could just eat them with biscuits homemade bread and it was very filling so thank you again sir both of you may the Lord continue to bless you and bless The works of your hands.
Thank you so much for coming to youtube I have been looking for a REAL pear preserves thank so much I am now a true follower blessings to you and your parents I love all the recipes
I always like to get all my pears out of the tree the 1st weekend in August, around the 8th. There still a little hard, so when they hit the ground it will not hurt them. I also do not mow under the tree for a month before I shake them out, makes a nice soft pad for them to hit on. Then I sort them out to the ones ready to cann, and the ones in a few days, and so on till there all canned. Pears do not all ripen at same time so you got to wait. Usually by the 2nd weekend there repining fast, and the sugar level hits its peak in 6b area. Apples are usually ripping at the same time here, and you can shake them out a week early same as pears. If they ripen to much they will break or splatter when they fall and you lose a lot of pears. So shake them out early and put them in a cool place till ripen up. It wont take long and you do not haft to hurry and cann them.
Hello CCB with Marshall! We haven't made pear preserves in a loooong time so we looked at all the vids on YT. This is the *one* we chose to go by. The preserves are in the jar and we're waiting for the pot to boil to make pear jelly with the leftover juice. (The pint jar of preserves had to be topped off again as the resultant product was sampled by me with a spoon. Monstro delicious!) One 5 gal bucket made 4 and a half quarts.... Looking at 8 pints of jelly with a little left over for pear honey. GREAT and needed advice! Super thanks! Note for your fans: The slicker way to peel the hide off those nuclear bomb proof pears is to heat 'em up. Drop a half dozen or so into boiling water, wait a couple of minutes and then dunk 'em in a bowl of ice water. While you are peeling, have the next half dozen bubbling. You still have to peel, but it's easy. Doing it the old way is hard. Real hard. Use a round, cheap apple corer with the side handles on the peeled pears. Makes it crazy fast to chunk 'em out. Side note. My father died before home video, but I did manage to audio tape his recollections aboard ship in the Pacific theater in WWII. This served as the nucleus for a whopping website I made dedicated to him and his shipmates. I wouldn't take ANYTHING for those recordings. Ya done good by making this video. You'll see that more in times to come. Your bestest fan from Alabam, Norm

Never knew the name of our pears. Country Boy says Bradford, so I'll go with that. No need for pectin for pear preserves....but you'll need it if you decide to do pear jelly with the leftover liquid, of which there will be lots. We dumped a 10LB sack of sugar in the stock pot which was about 4/5ths full after all was said and done. One 5 gallon bucket of pears made 4 and a half quarts.
My granny had a pear tree and she made preserves every year. You're right, those pears aren't good for eating! I'm surprised your Dad didn't use a canning funnel or wipe the tops of the jars--did they all seal?
No, I followed his recipe to the t and didn't add water just sugar n lemon juice n added cinnamon stick. 😋 thank you Sir, Grandma was from the country and used to make jam but I never wanted to learn, now that I'm old I wish I had, but thanks to this kind gentleman , i can use my pears from My 🌳. 🙌

Absolutely 😊
You said 2 1/2 gallon makes 14 pints? Is the 2 1/2 gallon peeled or not peeled ? If that makes any sense!!

Love the accent. 🥰
When you put your jars in the oven, did you put water in or around them? Thanks.
No..put them in by Them selves~Marshall
Where did you get the core gadget from? I've never seen one like this before
Great job.....Rosanne
Don’t forget to wipe the rims of the jar before the lid otherwise it might not seal.
What the name of the pear?
Hey..these are Bartlett pears Buffy
What is the name of the pears? And has anyone ever used pectin? I like this recipe better ... Looks like the ones my grandmother made :)
These are Bradford pears...Dad has never used Pectin

👍❤️😊
My neighbor just gave me enough to make about 60 quarts. And I’m gonna do it.
You don't add water?
No, I followed his recipe to the t and didn't add water just sugar n lemon juice n added cinnamon stick. 😋 thank you Sir, Grandma was from the country and used to make jam but I never wanted to learn, now that I'm old I wish I had, but thanks to this kind gentleman , i can use my pears from My 🌳. 🙌
How do you make apple jelly
I bet a little mollasses added to the recipe would be great.
Thank
My mother made this and I loved it. You can’t find anything like it in the store.
I covet that huge fig tree. Can you please show your parents property sometime?
darn , is there a recipe
OH YES GROW YOUR OWN.
Sniff sniff I miss my country family!
You didn’t clean the rims of your jars.
The rim's, lids and jars were all put in boiling water!
@@sandramiles4724 what they were asking i think was after jars were filled to wash & wipe off rims of jars any food that would prevent good sealing!
