This is a great list, something I think people miss is the RESEARCH please google pet training techniques watch TH-cam do not ignore the training. It's almost more important than some of the stuff people think is nessiary.

Just because he’s small doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be walked always exercise your dog ( also it help when training because he’ll be more relaxed and tired out so he will be able to focus better ) .
He looks to me like there is some poodle in the mix as well? Those are highly energetic dogs,just as border collies. I walk my poodle 4 times a day, 1,5 hours in total

I've had dogs my whole life and this is my must-have list for a puppy: - INSURANCE. If you can't afford insurance, you can't afford the pet. A vet bill for surgery after a sudden accident can suddenly be up to around 5000 dollars. With insurance, you just have to pay maybe 250 depending on which insurance you have. - Bowls - Collar with an ID-tag where you have your number and address written down. - Harness - Dog food - Poop bags - Leashes. Leather-ones or paracord-braided ones are the best for every day. They don't stink, dry easily, and easy to clean. - Chew toys in different materials and different hardness. Sometimes they want to chew something hard, sometimes something softer. - Quality squeaky toys. Preferably those with many layers of fabric, because dogs often want to get to the squeaker inside and can eat and choke on it. - Cage. It's a must for puppies to get used to it so they can feel safe there in the beginning. Can be ditched once they grow up and won't chew on everything anymore while you're not watching. - Different treats. Healthy ones, along with ''high status''-ones they LOVE. These are often more unhealthy but will get your puppy more motivated and rewards them more. - Reflective vest when going for walks in the dark. (Along with a reflective vest for yourself too). - Brushes for your dog's coat. Ask breeders what they use or research. The wrong brushes can damage their coats and skin. - Towels or blankets to have in their cage. Giving a dog-bed to a PUPPY will most likely result in it being chewed up once you turn away. They could also eat the stuffing inside the bed and need to go under surgery to remove it. - A longline, so you can train on recalling without them being totally off-leash. - Pawsocks for extreme winters and burning hot pavements during the summer. - Clothes depending on your dog's ability to preserve heat in the cold. - Raincoat. - Activity-toys like balls you fill with dog-food or treats to kill boredom. - Scissors and/or electric shaver if your dog has hair instead of fur. - A microfible noodle mat to soak up moisture from the dog's coat after getting wet. (Scruffs is a good brand). - Medical kit - Paw-cream - Salt-water eye-drops - Puppy pen (optional, depends on how well the room can be puppy-proofed)
I think a lot of people should be watching this. Too many people go and buy "a cute dog" or "a big dog" just for the pleasure of themselves, or their children. Then, they scold and punish the dog once the dog reacts to uncomfortable things, bad training, and harsh treatment. It kills me when people buy the wrong dog, and aren't prepared for the responsibility a dog comes with. Thanks for making this video to make it easy on new owners and future owners! 🐕
Just a tip 💜: Please read the ingredients on every dog food and treat you buy for them. Rawhide is a no 👎🏼 and when checking ingredients it shouldn’t have artificial coloring, no soy, no wheat, no flour, no corn, no grain. It caused health problems in the long run. RED coloring especially for poodles can cause seizures. 🥺 Just a few tips for your pups health 💕
Honestly when u first get your dog you don’t HAVE to get dog bowls and a mat u can just use human bowls and a towel, you also don’t NEED a treat bowl but there is good things that you put in there :) not hating

I may only be 13 but I've had 12 dogs throughout my whole life and currently have 4 and lost one last summer but just know you can't actually prepare yourself for a puppy even with experience. My mom had found a dog (we named him max) being dumped and she picked him up and we had to spare about $1,200 because he hadn't gotten any shots but also right before that we had gotten another puppy from someone who didn't want him so if you really want a dog just prepare money!
Bless your heart that you really believed them. Petsmart uses the cheapest products but will always recommend and sell you the expensive ones. Their sales staff are not knowledgeable at all especially trainers because of their free puppy playtime my dog became aggressive from them slowing bigger dogs to pounce on him no stop. Should I mention the treats that come with moths in them yea that was not cool at all
If you are tying to transition from one food to another start by replace 1/3 of ur dogs food with the new one and do that for about one day then in the second replace half then so on. I recommend Rachel rays dog food iv been using it for a few years because my dog is allergic to grains.

Yes! Good luck! For shedding dogs you may want certain vacuumes that tolerate dog fur, and since that can be big, make sure to get rubber toys, I would make them a bit bigger because they need to teeth. 😄 Also get sticky things, like tapes or rollers to clean the couches!

yes yes the only reason you would need a protective suit is if you’re training your dog for personal protection. If that is what you are doing, you should know that it is a big commitment and you need to have full control over your dog at all times. If you’re not experienced with dogs than you probably shouldn’t do that. German shepherds can be amazing pets, just like any other dog, if they are trained properly. They are very loyal and can be protective over their owners if you let them get too attached and don’t socialize them enough. Good luck with your dog and enjoy the puppy experience!!

I just came across your video and I wanted to say thanks! I just wanted to comment about your mention to grain free dog food. I absolutely don’t want to judge what you feed your dog and I absolutely respect it. However I wanted to comment on this because I lost my dog a few months ago due to a heart disease and I want to bring awareness on that issue. When the cardiologist saw him he told me that recent studies show that a lot of heart diseases in dogs are related to new grain free diets. So I advise you get your Vet’s opinion or do some research before having your dog on a grain free diet for a long term.

even if you dont have cold weather you should always have boots because the hot pavement can burn their feet so its a good idea to have them :)

Just because he’s small doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be walked always exercise your dog ( also it help when training because he’ll be more relaxed and tired out so he will be able to focus better ) .
He looks to me like there is some poodle in the mix as well? Those are highly energetic dogs,just as border collies. I walk my poodle 4 times a day, 1,5 hours in total

I've had dogs my whole life and this is my must-have list for a puppy:
- INSURANCE. If you can't afford insurance, you can't afford the pet. A vet bill for surgery after a sudden accident can suddenly be up to around 5000 dollars. With insurance, you just have to pay maybe 250 depending on which insurance you have.
- Bowls
- Collar with an ID-tag where you have your number and address written down.
- Harness
- Dog food
- Poop bags
- Leashes. Leather-ones or paracord-braided ones are the best for every day. They don't stink, dry easily, and easy to clean.
- Chew toys in different materials and different hardness. Sometimes they want to chew something hard, sometimes something softer.
- Quality squeaky toys. Preferably those with many layers of fabric, because dogs often want to get to the squeaker inside and can eat and choke on it.
- Cage. It's a must for puppies to get used to it so they can feel safe there in the beginning. Can be ditched once they grow up and won't chew on everything anymore while you're not watching.
- Different treats. Healthy ones, along with ''high status''-ones they LOVE. These are often more unhealthy but will get your puppy more motivated and rewards them more.

Reflective vest when going for walks in the dark. (Along with a reflective vest for yourself too).
- Brushes for your dog's coat. Ask breeders what they use or research. The wrong brushes can damage their coats and skin.
- Towels or blankets to have in their cage. Giving a dog-bed to a PUPPY will most likely result in it being chewed up once you turn away. They could also eat the stuffing inside the bed and need to go under surgery to remove it.
- A longline, so you can train on recalling without them being totally off-leash.
- Pawsocks for extreme winters and burning hot pavements during the summer.
- Clothes depending on your dog's ability to preserve heat in the cold.
- Raincoat.
- Activity-toys like balls you fill with dog-food or treats to kill boredom.
- Scissors and/or electric shaver if your dog has hair instead of fur.
- A microfible noodle mat to soak up moisture from the dog's coat after getting wet. (Scruffs is a good brand).
- Medical kit
- Paw-cream
- Salt-water eye-drops
- Puppy pen (optional, depends on how well the room can be puppy-proofed)

I think a lot of people should be watching this. Too many people go and buy "a cute dog" or "a big dog" just for the pleasure of themselves, or their children. Then, they scold and punish the dog once the dog reacts to uncomfortable things, bad training, and harsh treatment. It kills me when people buy the wrong dog, and aren't prepared for the responsibility a dog comes with. Thanks for making this video to make it easy on new owners and future owners! 🐕

Just a tip 💜: Please read the ingredients on every dog food and treat you buy for them. Rawhide is a no 👎🏼 and when checking ingredients it shouldn’t have artificial coloring, no soy, no wheat, no flour, no corn, no grain. It caused health problems in the long run. RED coloring especially for poodles can cause seizures. 🥺 Just a few tips for your pups health 💕

I may only be 13 but I've had 12 dogs throughout my whole life and currently have 4 and lost one last summer but just know you can't actually prepare yourself for a puppy even with experience. My mom had found a dog (we named him max) being dumped and she picked him up and we had to spare about $1,200 because he hadn't gotten any shots but also right before that we had gotten another puppy from someone who didn't want him so if you really want a dog just prepare money!

Bless your heart that you really believed them. Petsmart uses the cheapest products but will always recommend and sell you the expensive ones. Their sales staff are not knowledgeable at all especially trainers because of their free puppy playtime my dog became aggressive from them slowing bigger dogs to pounce on him no stop. Should I mention the treats that come with moths in them yea that was not cool at all
If you are tying to transition from one food to another start by replace 1/3 of ur dogs food with the new one and do that for about one day then in the second replace half then so on. I recommend Rachel rays dog food iv been using it for a few years because my dog is allergic to grains.

Yes! Good luck! For shedding dogs you may want certain vacuumes that tolerate dog fur, and since that can be big, make sure to get rubber toys, I would make them a bit bigger because they need to teeth. 😄 Also get sticky things, like tapes or rollers to clean the couches!

yes yes the only reason you would need a protective suit is if you’re training your dog for personal protection. If that is what you are doing, you should know that it is a big commitment and you need to have full control over your dog at all times. If you’re not experienced with dogs than you probably shouldn’t do that. German shepherds can be amazing pets, just like any other dog, if they are trained properly. They are very loyal and can be protective over their owners if you let them get too attached and don’t socialize them enough. Good luck with your dog and enjoy the puppy experience!!

I just came across your video and I wanted to say thanks! I just wanted to comment about your mention to grain free dog food. I absolutely don’t want to judge what you feed your dog and I absolutely respect it. However I wanted to comment on this because I lost my dog a few months ago due to a heart disease and I want to bring awareness on that issue. When the cardiologist saw him he told me that recent studies show that a lot of heart diseases in dogs are related to new grain free diets. So I advise you get your Vet’s opinion or do some research before having your dog on a grain free diet for a long term.
