- Hello JACO fans. Here is a demo of the first of three JACO relic basses I put together with used Fender, Squier and various other parts and accessories. This is Relic No.1; the FRETLESS JAZZ BASS
I'm covering the short live version of my favorite JACO tune: "CONTINUUM". My playing has a lot to be desired but this video is just to sample the sound of the bass. I'm playing it through a Roland Bass CUBE100 using the BASS360 sound model and a combination of chorus/reverb effects. I hope you like it.
Coming up next; Relic No.2. Thanks for watching. - เพลง
The articulation, the harmonics, the vibrato, the way the notes sustain, it's all there, and those nuances are the most important parts to the Jaco style and tone that separate him from the rest. I wish I could be in the room with this thing and hear all the low end and fundamental I'm missing. Computer speakers and youtube compression don't do it justice. Beautiful recreation and technique.
You are very kind. Thank you.
I intended this video to be a showcase of the "relic" bass that I put together with cheap used parts but it is great to be appreciated for my playing too. But I'm just a hack. JACO is the greatest!
Super cool you are !!!
Stunning stuff. What a great looking room!
Thank you sir! That is just the built-in chorus effect on the ROLAND BASS CUBE 100.
Blessings and peace to you.
Thank you for the kind comment.
You sound great Nolet! I love the bass too!
Nice playing.
Thanks for watching and for the advise.
Thanks Von! You're very kind. Hey, if you want that sound in your next album, let me know. Ha ha!
Nice Playing!! =-)
@RaginRog Thank you, sir.I appreciate it.
Well done! :)
Thank you, sir!
Jaco < Who loves u ;)
Cool stuff! But you shouldn't play Rotosound strings on that thing. It's gonna wear the wood down, and sound a bit too bright.
Thanks for appreciating. The Rotosounds are just fine because the
fretboard is ebonol. The brightness is because I was using only the
bridge pickup with the tone all the way up. I have since learned to pull
that back and it sounds better. Mahalo for the tips!!
Do you have the tabs for this or notation? I know this is from the live version of Continuum but i cant find anything for it.
I'm sorry I don't have any tabs or notation for this version, I just learned to play it by ear.
jacomacca I’ll try it out then. Amazing video by the way, very beautifully played!
Thanks for appreciating. Frankly, I didn't think my playing was up to par; this video was mainly to showcase my homemade relic Jaco bass, put together using Squier and Fender jazz bass parts. Way cheaper that the Fender Custom shop relic. Mahalo!
And those MXR digital delays had a low frequency oscillator circuit!
Do you know what Chorus is and how it works?
Beautiful bass and playing. Which parts did you use to build this one? I'm looking to do some exploring through the world wide web to find parts like this.
Thank you. What effect should I be using instead that will fit?
wow man!!! u really sounds like jaco!!! what chorus do u use??? blessings...
you really need to back off the treble. Jaco's tone was not that bright. Make it warmer
C'est vrai, je pensais pareil ;-) Sur ma Squier je baisse les aigus de moitié.
beaucoup trop de vibratos à mon sens
Merci pour votre commentaire
the chorus effect doesn't fit. besides that it's nice! and bass is nice too ;)
