The process of drawing a dragonfly with colored pencils/part five
First, I choose a soft pencil to sketch light and subtle lines to indicate the outline of the dragonfly. I start with the thin and graceful body, moving towards long, transparent wings that appear as fragile as glass.
I then move on to darker, richer pencils to add depth and detail. I carefully work each line, giving them volume and texture. I use different shades of green and blue, black to convey the shiny and metallic texture of the dragonfly's body, which shimmers in the sun.
For the wings I use a mixture of light blue and green and yellow to create the illusion of shimmer. I add thin lines to imitate the veins on the wings, making them look realistic.
At the end I add some bright accents: yellow dragonfly eyes that look like little lights. These bright colors attract attention and make the drawing more vibrant and memorable.
As I step back to look at the finished work, the dragonfly seems almost alive, ready to flap its wings and fly off the paper. It's a moment of magic that I strive to capture on video for my viewers. ✨
