So glad you got to experience this bit of gaming history. To. This. Day. There are those that will scream this legend's name while running headfirst into danger or certain death. The spirit of Leeroy lives on.
Leeroy is playing a plate wearing class, Paladin. That boss is optional and dropped the priest shoulders which paladins could wear. They were planning what to do (if you touched the eggs the spawn dragon whelps) and he just charged in screaming his name and wiped the whole party. I know you’ve already recorded a bunch, but for Halloween I definitely recommend PlatinumWow’s video on the HeadlessHorseman ( yes real life Hollidays are in the game)
Furthermore, the very-detailed plan that the raid leader is discussing before Leeroy just ran in...? It's completely nonsensical if you know what that encounter is like and what the mentioned abilities do. Divine Intervention, for instance, puts a bubble of invincibility on a targeted ally (and took them out of combat) at a cost of the paladin's life. Also, the ally in question can't attack or cast spells for the duration. Using it on a mage is absurd. It was normally used on a healer if the raid was about to wipe, so the healer could resurrect everyone after the encounter reset. In short, to regular World of Warcraft players, this video is an absolutely hilarious parody of hard-core raiding guilds. As a footnote, the real Leeroy Jenkins appears in person in the "15 Years of World of Warcraft" celebration video.

Dungeon raids are all about teamwork where everyone has to do their part. Your group could spend hours dying ('wiping') on the same boss before you got it right. One person could get everyone killed. Ok real talk, considering the current "situation" we are all in worldwide, I really recommend you check out a video talking about the famous World of Warcraft Corrupted Blood incident (or read about it). Today I Found Out's video is pretty good detailing it.
If you haven't seen the A Toast to 15 Years video for warcraft, Leeroy Jenkins is in it and the voice acter for eyebrows, she is an old lady in the vid
Btw it's funny cause you can feel the bond\connection with each other player with him as he coordinates his game plan with a variety of other ability potential and strength to win and yes the gaming lingo is def another beautiful thing to know 😂 cause it sounds like another dialect of English for some masses and i find it funny cause I understand them but know those who don't and glad I came accros your channel to see you enter the world of oddities as I should say respectfully and playfully while fully referring to the term gamers 😁 may chicken be with you
Some other gaming platforms you might even see the name Leroy Jenkins, he was very famous back in the day so he is kind of a game phenomenon for suiciding/poor strategy or tactics. Glad you even found this, I laughed so hard when in Heartstone there was a card named Leeroy Jenkins. Love your reaction
Hi Hannah, great reaction. :D It might be worth looking into an iconic incident in WoW’s history called the Corrupted Blood plague, which ended up being the real life study of people researching how people would act in an actual pandemic!
I remember that.. and wasn't it like... even if you played years after... if your guy was infected.. you could still infect people long after this was done? That was crazy...
After seeing Leeroy Jenkins I guess it’s time for all the cinematics for Hearthstone. After that clip Leeroy became a card in the game and makes an appearance in the League of Explorers Announcement Trailer. Bet you would have fun with these;3 Keep up the good work^^
That section of the video the Air Force TOC is hilarious. But I couldn’t figure out how they were using it. I think someone customized a computer alert signal, like an incoming message “ting” or beep. I once sang the McDonalds menu song from microphone at my work station to another operations center across the world cause you can get kinda stir crazy on late night shifts. Almost got in serious trouble...lol
SDomething else they left out, The title of "Jenkins" can be added onto your characters name if you spawn and kill 50 Dragons at once inside of Blackrock spire. TItles are basically just bragging rights for acheivements that you get a list for and can pick and choose titles whenever you want. Like "HannahsCharacter" The seeker, the noble, the patient. You could even have assistant professor. SO you can actually be A jenkins too.
craig r did a pretty good job of explaining the general situation, but there are a few bits of lingo you may not be familiar with; AOE- stands for "area of effect," the abbreviation is used to refer to any spell or ability that affects an area instead of a single target. Intimidating shout- an ability that causes a temporary fear effect among nearby enemies, causing them to run away for a few seconds divine intervention- classic.wowhead.com/spell=19752/divine-intervention causes the target to stop taking damage for a bit, but neither they nor the caster can move or take action for the duration
Hi, this is really late, but you should check out Extra Credit's video on the Corrupted Blood incident, a bug in World Of Warcraft that ended up causing so many problems that the devs had to straight-up reset the game, which is virtually unheard of in MMOs.
Okay, so the gag is that there's a group trying to get past a very infamous encounter and they've been dying to it and "Leeroy" decides to go get something to eat while they're discussing and gameplanning out how to beat it, then he just comes back and runs into the fight, killing the group yet again. It became a meme about foolhardy and senseless behavior that ends in disaster. It's thought that it was actually staged but even if it is it's just hilariously funny, especially if you have any experience in playing in groups. It's spread way beyond even WoW, like the term zerging spread beyond Starcraft.
It's the dragon whelp egg room in Upper Blackrock Spire. Basically if you touch the eggs in the room, they burst open and create a dragon whelp. If you're a bunch of idiots, you chaotically run about like tools and spawn whelp after whelp, the group gets overwhelmed and everyone dies. The boss is at the end of the room, so you have to carefully make your way to them. It's an optional boss, and 99% of groups just skip it because the loot is bad and it's a painful room. The only reason the group attempts the room, is because Leeroy wants an extremely sub-optimal for him piece of loot from the boss. The group makes a plan to deal with the room, and Leeroy isn't even listening as he's getting food delivered. He returns to his computer and immediately runs into the room and aggros basically everything. The group as a result gets completely wiped and everyone dies. But at least Leeroy has his hot chicken. Thus to "Leeroy Jenkins" something, means to run in without a plan, armed with little more than your overconfidence. It's like a Hail Mary in football, except you do it right at the start of the game when there's absolutely no need to, and you lose the entire game if it fails. Which it usually does lol.
They were planning out a boss fight in the next room, the raid leader was giving the game plan on how to not wipe but Leeroy was AFK (probably went to grab some chicken) so before the raider leader could finish Leeroy came back and jumped the gun and hauled ass into the room and the rest of the team who wasn't prepared got wiped out hilariously.
Leeroy is funny because he's that one guy that is in every world of Warcraft Raid group that runs in and does something stupid that gets everyone killed this became so popular that they added the title Jenkins to the game so that you can run around with that name on the end of your character's name so for example say your name is lightheart it would be lightheart Jenkins. During warlords of draenor they added a quest to the game in one of the dungeons where you escort Leeroy through this dungeon to get his devout shoulders you have to kill everything before he runs through and makes everything attack you.
It's spread even further. Author Aleron Kong has his main character and his best friend yell it towards the end of book 7 of his The Land series. It's a litrpg/gamelit series that transports the main character into a world that is run on gaming rules with character and item stats, levels, quests, etc.
I'd hoped they'd include the Mass Effect version of Leeroy, an extra party member, Private L. Jenkins that is part of your group in the first battle but dies in the first combat cutscene.
There is a little easter egg in the witcher 3 regarding leeroy and its a post that says Leeroy's Dead The knight known as Sir Leeory has died during a one-man raid against monsters, carried out of his own volition and against everyone else's better judgement. He left no family or relations of any sort. He wanted to be a hero. May he rest in peace. All those who are interested are hereby informed that a funeral cefemony conducted according to Lebioda's rite will be held in three days 💀💀💀
It's obviously a set up skit for that particular room. It's just a room with a ton of dragon eggs inside and a bunch of decent larger enemies, the lizard centaur dudes, that your group has to progress through on the way to the boss of the whole particular dungeon/raid. It's actually a tough room to get through if you're group is trying to speed run given there is so many enemies inside that you have to fight all at once, basically. Not to mention, there is an in-game achievement for beating that room quickly and at this point I believe the achievement references Leeroy Jenkins, if I recall.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Oh, I'm sorry. My apologies. I made a bunch of those comments on your videos last night after work. I was tired and too quick worded. I was just happy to see a non-gamer reactor of sorts looking deeper into the lore of such things given most just stop at the trailer and never look any further than that.
From the looks of confusion on your face basically Leeroy Jenkins was a World of Warcraft skit that turn into a viral meme and is a reference a trope used today basically it's what happens when a person who stupidly idiotically goes out of his way to not listen to but also screw up a perfectly laid out plan to extremely difficult but manageable problem basically a person that does more damage than good by not listening or in other words a person that makes a bad situation worse than it is and wind up getting his whole squad or team killed in the process the meme/ Trope became so popular that the Army uses it as an example while training new recruits in strategy
Yeah, they also made an achievement in-game where you could get a title (something displayed with your name above your head) Jenkins. Was pretty cool. As a gamer, might I recommend some of the FFXIV (Final Fantasy 14) Movies, Flames of Truth is a fantastic one.
That channel has a lot of good videos if you're interested in current or history of esports. I very much recommend Evo Moment 37: The Daigo Parry. The greatest moment in competitive gaming.
It's so good because even people who have never played WOW hear about it and then the build up is just you watching a bunch of guys take it so seriously and nerding out so hard, especially to anyone who has never played a game this involved, and then a classic idiotic tv joke trope happens and you watch everyone die because of it... It's perfect LMAO.
This was cute and your laughter made it better. If you're interested in another real life affecting WoW event, check out Bellular's "WoW’s First CRISIS: The Accidental Plague That Threatened To Wipe Out Azeroth | History of WoW." As someone who survived the Hakkar Blood Plague, it was way more annoying and funny in person (my lvl 35 druid hiding in the water from other players) but I think you'll be amazed that it actually is very relevant to our current day pandemic.
Wait, Leeroy Jenkins was a skit?... Damn, I thought it was real... That kinda makes it less good... But still... The legacy stands, the legacy stays. LEEROOOOOOOOOY JENKIIIIIIINNNSSS

The point of the story is you have a group that is making detailed plans to accomplish a task that is derailed by a careless coworker. While they were planning, Leroy was getting chicken. Once Leroy got back, instead of communicating with the team, he ran in and started the event before they were ready. Causing them to fail the task. Finishing with his off hand remark, at lease I got chicken.

Part of the joke of the original Leeroy Jenkins video, is: The plan the group made (Casting Divine Intervention on their mages, and knocking back the Whelps with Intimidating Shout) was *BATSHIT INSANE,* and doomed to fail from the start. First, Divine Intervention: Nowadays, it simply saves the life of a Paladin if they take a hit that would've killed them. But back then, Divine Intervention *instantly killed* the Paladin who used it, and put a shield on the ally they targeted. The ally in question would be completely invincible, but unable to move or attack. The intended use of Divine Intervention was: If you knew you were about to wipe (A "wipe" means everybody in your party is dead, as in "wiped out"), you'd have a Paladin cast Divine Intervention on, for example, a Priest. The Priest could then resurrect the party (Since resurrection abilities technically aren't "attacks", Divine Intervention didn't block them). Because of this, casting Divine Intervention on a Mage was *absolutely stupid.* Because not only did it take one of your Paladins (a character who could both soak up damage and cast some extra healing spells) out of the fight, but when cast on a Mage, it basically paralyzed them (No attacks = no damage being dealt, and Mages are *built* to deal damage). Second, Intimidating Shout: The plan discussed in the video was for one of the Warriors to use Intimidating Shout (An ability that forces low-level enemies to run away from you for a few seconds); after that, another Warrior would use Intimidating Shout, and then a third Warrior would do the same. At that point, the first Warrior would Shout again; rinse, and repeat. The thing is, though: This would only keep the Whelps (You know the swarm of flying monsters that killed everyone in the video? Those were Whelps) away from the party for a short while, before dumping even more on them. Finally, the plan was *completely unnecessary* to begin with: The Whelps only spawned if you ran over their eggs. A competent party wouldn't need such an overly convoluted and counterproductive plan in the first place, as they could simply *not break the eggs.* And if you watch the original video, the player who's recording does *nothing but* stomp on the eggs. So, in conclusion: While Leeroy's actions may have hastened their defeat, the party was going to get themselves killed anyway due to their own asinine plan. Edit: Fixed a few typos.
This might be a very weird recommendation for some videos to watch but I would say to watch Barney64s classic wow videos. At least the Tales Of A Happy Camper, it shows what great personal stories the game can spawn, that is besides the in game stories, as well as give a idea of how the game actually looks and plays compared to heavily CGI'd trailers. Regardless of the recommendation, love the videos girl! Keep doing it!

Ok real talk, considering the current "situation" we are all in worldwide, I really recommend you check out a video talking about the famous World of Warcraft Corrupted Blood incident (or read about it). Today I Found Out's video is pretty good detailing it.
I love that you did this and your neighbor made you do this. Leroy is an absolute legend
Hahaha yes.
Ah yes, the early days of the internet, when memes were fresh and new, and Leeroy was a hero to all WoW players :D
If you haven't seen the A Toast to 15 Years video for warcraft, Leeroy Jenkins is in it and the voice acter for eyebrows, she is an old lady in the vid
Ooh! The legendary leeroy jenkins!! Very cool. Good luck on the next novel; sounds like you’re making good progress
Btw it's funny cause you can feel the bond\connection with each other player with him as he coordinates his game plan with a variety of other ability potential and strength to win and yes the gaming lingo is def another beautiful thing to know 😂 cause it sounds like another dialect of English for some masses and i find it funny cause I understand them but know those who don't and glad I came accros your channel to see you enter the world of oddities as I should say respectfully and playfully while fully referring to the term gamers 😁 may chicken be with you
Omg, just thought of the celebrity world of warcraft commercials. You should do it for William Shatner alone, but there's much more to it
Some other gaming platforms you might even see the name Leroy Jenkins, he was very famous back in the day so he is kind of a game phenomenon for suiciding/poor strategy or tactics.
I love how you got excited over all the facts in the second video :) Awesome reaction, keep it up :)
After seeing Leeroy Jenkins I guess it’s time for all the cinematics for Hearthstone. After that clip Leeroy became a card in the game and makes an appearance in the League of Explorers Announcement Trailer. Bet you would have fun with these;3
Keep up the good work^^
Thanks!
I love how you progressively go from I don't understand the joke to this is the funniest shit I've ever seen
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 legit.
SO you can actually be A jenkins too.
craig r did a pretty good job of explaining the general situation, but there are a few bits of lingo you may not be familiar with;
AOE- stands for "area of effect," the abbreviation is used to refer to any spell or ability that affects an area instead of a single target.
Intimidating shout- an ability that causes a temporary fear effect among nearby enemies, causing them to run away for a few seconds
divine intervention- classic.wowhead.com/spell=19752/divine-intervention causes the target to stop taking damage for a bit, but neither they nor the caster can move or take action for the duration
Lol! I never saw the entire video before.
That was Great!
Thanks 😊
Just subscribed yesterday
Thank youuuuu
Great video Hannah. What a pleasant surprise to get today. Good luck on your November venture. Take care and stay safe my friend.
Planned to perfection, until Leeroy Jenkins goes full rambo
They were discussing strategy for killing the whelps/baby dragons and Leroy said the hell with this lets go
In my heart of hearts, I still believe that it wasn’t scripted, and Leroy is just a moron.
My favorite parody is from Phineas and Ferb xD It was so funny to see it in a modern Disney cartoon hahaha
It's also a nod to the movie The Last Dragon. Main character is named Leroy Jenkins and the bad guy yells his name exactly the same.
I didn't know that!! Cool!
Btw, if you are into board games, this 11:41 is Hearthstone - online card game, that is based on it's physical version - WoW TCG (Trading Card Game)
I feel so old watching this but I love it.
There is a little easter egg in the witcher 3 regarding leeroy and its a post that says
Leeroy's Dead
The knight known as Sir Leeory has died during a one-man raid against monsters, carried out of his own volition and against everyone else's better judgement. He left no family or relations of any sort. He wanted to be a hero. May he rest in peace.
All those who are interested are hereby informed that a funeral cefemony conducted according to Lebioda's rite will be held in three days
💀💀💀
It's obviously a set up skit for that particular room. It's just a room with a ton of dragon eggs inside and a bunch of decent larger enemies, the lizard centaur dudes, that your group has to progress through on the way to the boss of the whole particular dungeon/raid. It's actually a tough room to get through if you're group is trying to speed run given there is so many enemies inside that you have to fight all at once, basically. Not to mention, there is an in-game achievement for beating that room quickly and at this point I believe the achievement references Leeroy Jenkins, if I recall.
You say obvious... But I'm not a gamer, remember? 😅😅
@@SiouxTube np!! Thanks for watching!!
"Save him" guy is proof, that good old days are gone.....
The greatest moment in competitive gaming.
least i have chicken
It's so good because even people who have never played WOW hear about it and then the build up is just you watching a bunch of guys take it so seriously and nerding out so hard, especially to anyone who has never played a game this involved, and then a classic idiotic tv joke trope happens and you watch everyone die because of it... It's perfect LMAO.
React to corrupt blood incident
That is a good one
You will def have to remind me again as everything into December is already filmed.
@@HannaHsOverInvested It's a thing that was mentioned in a real life epidemiology study. Definitely worth a look. :)
@@HannaHsOverInvested Corrupted Blood, basically a plague that accidentally spread across Azeroth killing everyone in the game for days
@@HannaHsOverInvested This gaming incident is helping real Life epidemologists even today in their studies. It's pretty Epic...and weird.
Another good video to watch is the Abbott and Costello parody who's the tank
Wait, Leeroy Jenkins was a skit?... Damn, I thought it was real... That kinda makes it less good... But still... The legacy stands, the legacy stays.
LEEROOOOOOOOOY JENKIIIIIIINNNSSS
the most famous ninja pull raid wipe in warcraft history, you should check out "raid wipe animation" another hilarious raid wipe video. I had no idea Leeroy Jenkins became so mainstream. I wish I had the patience to read, the covers of your books look cool.
I knew about the LEEEEEROOOOOOY JEEEEENKINS battle cry, never saw the full video though. Goddamnit, I actually cry laughing. I am not joking, my tears went all out confused "has anyone died? If so, why is this asshole smiling?!!!".
They were trying to prepare for a big monster battle called a "Raid". They are very difficult and require a large group of players to plan and work together.
HELLO ! check out destiny 2 forsaken fall of the cayde 6 -
background : ( he is a hunter as a character in game he was human before and he died 6 times and that's why his name is cayde '6' and he had a son named ACE when he was a human, but he can only remember his name and he doesn't know that ACE was his son's name ! you will understand after you watch the video.)
you can also watch a video full of his cutscene he has a personality like deadpool in the game. you will like it !
Ben Schults a.k.a. Leeroy Jenkins is also featured in the short video from Blizzard titled "A toast to 15 years", which they made in honor of the re-release of WoW Classic in 2019
It's on the World of Warcraft TH-cam channel if you want to watch it. /watch?v=iCn14KLCerY
My favorite bit of internet meme/gaming history :D
Leeroy definitely inspired me to make some YOLO stock plays ahahaha
Hannah meets the most respected Paladin in The History of Azeroth, Champion of The Alliance and Member of The Pals 4 Life Guid, Leeroy Jenkins!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Since you like it, you should see "A Toast to 15 Years" music video celebrating 15 years of World of Warcraft, and the launch of WoW Classic. With cameos including Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Ronda Rousey (wrestler and actress), Patty Mattson (voice actor of Sylvanas), Ben Schulz (the man, the myth, the legend himself) and many others. I know you are bussy right now, it doesn't have to to be reaction video, just something for your enjoyment. :)
I learned something new! I also did not know of this Leeroy Jenkins. I like your video! keep up the good work! I check out your work!
Leeroy Jenkins also got a Miniature in the short-lived WoW-Mini's set.
Oh cool!
@@HannaHsOverInvested I have tranafered it to a 1-inch base, in preperation of playing him in D&D... But not yet 😉
Leeroy is that guy that mess something up and was named after this guy.
The most recent leeroy appearance was in the WoW 15th anniversary video along with some other celebrities that are fans of WoW and even Sylvana's voice actress in case you want to watch it: th-cam.com/video/iCn14KLCerY/w-d-xo.html
This was fun to watch.😁
Internet historian made an amazing documentary on Leeroy
The score esports channel (the channel that made the little leeroy Jenkins documentary you watched) has an amazing series explaining some of gaming most iconic memes. You should check it out. It would give you a better insight into gaming culture.
Thanks. I may do that!
@@HannaHsOverInvested cool i believe the series playlist is called what is.../ overexplained
The point of the story is you have a group that is making detailed plans to accomplish a task that is derailed by a careless coworker. While they were planning, Leroy was getting chicken. Once Leroy got back, instead of communicating with the team, he ran in and started the event before they were ready. Causing them to fail the task. Finishing with his off hand remark, at lease I got chicken.
ok so i just discovered hannah, and i love watching her gaming video reaction, theyre so pure and real ! love it. but why is she still not a gamer? shes wearing the merch and everything, and she seems so interested in this stuff !! just wondering if she ever gave a reason in the past or if she''s just simply not into games, but loves the stories around them
Merch? I made that shirt!
@@HannaHsOverInvested Oh snap, just consider it a compliment then xD
Part of the joke of the original Leeroy Jenkins video, is: The plan the group made (Casting Divine Intervention on their mages, and knocking back the Whelps with Intimidating Shout) was *BATSHIT INSANE,* and doomed to fail from the start.
First, Divine Intervention:
Nowadays, it simply saves the life of a Paladin if they take a hit that would've killed them.
Second, Intimidating Shout:
The plan discussed in the video was for one of the Warriors to use Intimidating Shout (An ability that forces low-level enemies to run away from you for a few seconds); after that, another Warrior would use Intimidating Shout, and then a third Warrior would do the same. At that point, the first Warrior would Shout again; rinse, and repeat. The thing is, though: This would only keep the Whelps (You know the swarm of flying monsters that killed everyone in the video? Those were Whelps) away from the party for a short while, before dumping even more on them.
Finally, the plan was *completely unnecessary* to begin with:
The Whelps only spawned if you ran over their eggs.
Ah, yes, Leeroy Jenkins. I remember when going into the Rookery, our guild/party would all yell LEEEERRRROOYYY JENKINNNNSSS!!! Good times!
Good luck this month, don't burn yourself out!
Thank you!
Nanowrimo helped me finish my first book, but it was way too stressful and ended up just making me hate writing. I'm sure it's useful for some people, but I need to be able to write at my own pace! lol.
Totally agree. Thats why I am doing my own version. I dont think I could ever just sit down and bang on my key board.
Leeeeroyy Jeeenkinss!

You should react to some of the Legion ingame cinematics
Example:broken shore
Edit:there are horde and alliance pov
You should check out Wow's version of 'The internet is for p*rn'. It was an early favorite of players back around the same time as Leroy. Players making their own videos with Wow graphics is still a thing today.
