Hello mate - I hope you understand that many of us watch this channel not just because we are interested in Germany and all its quirks, but because we like you too and enjoy hearing your thoughts. Some of my favourite videos of yours are ones where are just at home explaining something about Germany that hasn’t passed into English language media. You are talented at explaining nuances and context, and I appreciate that. I’m a 38 year old Australian, on the other side of the world, but you often remind me of myself, especially your championing of public transport. I shall have to live vicariously through you until I can make it back to Europe, hopefully sooner rather than later 😉
Small correction: As the tagesschau reported on Dec 21, Stendal will recognize the Deutschlandticket at least until end of April 2024. There were 30 votes in favor, four against and nine abstentions in the Kreistag. Looks like it could be longer than April, but on the other hand, there seem to be elections scheduled for June. Fun moment in this video: 2:07 "Unfortunately it has been raining pretty much non-stop since about" [looks at watch] "October." I'm looking forward to your new travel videos, I always enjoyed them. Please carry on the good work.
Hey, we are some people who have a wristwatch (digital in my case, Casio) that tells the date and year - with century! Let me see... a bit less than a quarter past the 20th, isn't it?
You've been looking like you know what you're doing for some time now. I for one love your insights into German life and your trips and also silly videos about the history of Germany. I did donate to the shelter and was very happy to help out a little. Please keep rocking and being the awesome person you are.
I liked the idea of the fixed camera on the green meadow while the year passed so very much. Simple but nice. Also, I think part of the charm of your channel is that there is nothing sensational about it. You go visit places like anyone could do or you sit at your desk talking about news. Simple can be good. My wish for your channel is to keep up the already good job. Improvements will be, of course appreciated, but the existing channel is nice already.
I won't be making any major changes, and I'm not going to go all Mr Beast on you. I've been making adjustments and tweaks throughout the last year or two, nothing drastic.
2:52 I probably was a part of that wave, as I already had seen a few of your YT Shorts quite a while ago but the algorithm fed me a lot more of them recently and I started watching some of your longer videos as well.
This channel is amazing! I will say that I started digging into German related videos after deciding that I likely want to move to Germany since things in the US are falling apart. You make great stuff and I'm happy to be here ❤️
Let me guess, You Sir, are not a German? No German would ever wish Happy Birthday or a Happy New Year in advance. In the latter case we say Guten Rutsch in's neue Jahr (good slide into the new year) or just *Guten Rutsch*
@@hansmeiser32 You'd be right, I'm not German indeed. I know it's an early wish but given this was probably Andrew's last video of the year I though it was a good time for doing so. As for birthdays yeah, better be on the right day regardless of the circumstances. Thanks for the cultural context, appreciated.
Andrew, After finding your channel, and incredibly soothing voice, it had been hard for me not to watch your videos. I have a suspicion that your demographics would include quite a few cat owners, Germanophiles, and travellers. Possibly all three.. or maybe that’s just me..? Anyhow, thank you for your efforts and talents on this platform. All the best wishes and fortunes this year! Cheers.
Please release "Doktor Wer", because firstly, now you have triggered my curiosity and secondly, it would be sad to discard everything and all the work that you have already done for this project.
Andrew! I have a quirky space for you to stay. My partner and I built a tinyhouseboat in Berlin that we use as a little floating cottage. It’s Anchored near Treptower Park so lots of interesting places to explore near by. Anyway, I’m happy to let you use the space for 2-4 days. I think my messages keep getting flagged as spam… but I’m serious 😅.
The Landkreis Standal has indeed reversed its decision and will accept the Deutschlandticket at least until the end of April 2024. There is obviously still a lot of haggling going on in the background.
Andrew, I loved the additional in-video of what can only be assumed is a small paddock beside your home. At first I thought it was neglected but when the cows turned up, well that was a surprise. Quick question - are they yours??? As an Aussie who grew up in country Victoria, I could smell the wonderful country aromas but I hope for you, it was minus the flies. I enjoy your content so keep up the good work. Grüße aus Australien. Tschüss.
The cows belong to a local farmer. In this area, a lot of farmers have rights to allow livestock to graze on small parcels of land scattered about, and they move their livestock around these plots every few weeks.
@@rewboss Andrew, thanks for clearing that up. It’s not every day one sees cattle grazing in a residential area. Thanks again for your channel, I’ve enjoyed the content on living in Germany. I’ve been studying German language for three years (progressing slowly) and visited Germany back in 2019. Even with some little background, I found there is a cultural difference with many Germans I encountered on that trip. Again, keep up the good work and thanks. Grüße aus Australien. Tschüss.
@@peterfromgw4615 hehe well.... just keep in mind that - in case Germany had as much space as you have in Down Under - no cattle would ever be grazing in a residential area. Clive, I don't know if you're a conspiracy theorist or something, but I've met the guy and he's a harmless nutcase. He couldn't conspire to save his life. Berlin, Germany, 1989, the day the Wall came down, he barged into me, apologised, grinned and said, "Oh, it's you again. Fancy bumping into you like this." Well, the Deutschland-Ticket is completely unhelpful if you mostly in home-office and just very spontaneously in office that where you're already loosing very much time when using an ICE (where it usually isn't valid) and at home usually using a bike or if you have to transport much a car.
