Got a few thoughts here: 1. I think wargaming hit the nail on the head with the new spotting mechanic and the fuel mechanic. Overall this makes destroyers and light cruisers much more enjoyable (I’m a battleship main, so hopefully I’m not too biased here). 2. I think your point on the speed up and slow down not having any skill is valid! I believe the best way to balance it would be to have the planes burn more fuel when speeding and less fuel when slow (more than proportional), so you are trading off range for speed. This allows a high skill ceiling as players can learn strategies to reach ships that might otherwise be out of range or hit close threats at a rapid pace so long as they don’t lose all their planes. This is also realistic as planes generally burn exponentially more fuel with speed. 3. I like the idea of a spotting plane that can fully spot ships but I think it would be best as radar style ability (maybe called “relay” or “recon”) rather than a separate plane. The ability would allow the carriers team to fully see all ships the carrier can for x amount of time. This means the carrier would have to trade fuel and time to stay near a destroyer or some target to spot for their team. This would couple well with the fuel mechanic and give the carriers much more team play strategy that is needed now that full spotting is removed. 4. This increase in utility could be used to justify a small nerf in damage to make carriers more enjoyable for other players. Also the utility being added here requires carriers to not solely hunt damage, giving some relief to the otherwise relentless attacks. 5. Possibly other cool ideas here is allowing carriers to buff allies or anything that can give the carrier depth and value without deteriorating the fun for the other team. Some cool ideas are dropping aerial smoke screens or resupplying ally consumables. There’s already a command for “I need a smoke screen!”
A big problem we have is getting unbiased info because it seems half the conversation are carrier mains who want them armed with nukes and the other half never play carriers and want them gone entirely That said, a completely unbiased thought of mine. Carriers HAVE to have some kind of close-range danger. That close-range danger should be losing planes. However, if you just respawn planes infinitely then that danger no longer exists. In a perfect world a carrier would have to play strategically and bring as many planes back as possible after an attack run to keep from running out completely. My biggest change would be to eliminate plane respawn. You get what you get (40, 50, maybe 60 depending on carrier and nation) and when they're gone they're gone. Do you go hard and try to end the game early? Do you play cautious and focus on the long game? Can you attack strategically in ways that conserve planes? Maybe not very "new player friendly" but about the most fair single bit of balancing I can think of
I'll be playing more AI and avoiding Standard when and where possible. This updated has made it easier to move onto another game. I've spent a lot of time and money on this for the enjoyment, but I'm not enjoying this update.

Thank you for the support on that flank. I got the cap but as you saw I had a Monty pushing and some enemy ships over there. My AA range is 8.7km with that build : )
So I have heard ( not verified ) that carrier “mains” are like 7% but let’s say 10%. Why from a business standpoint would you make a huge change to please 10% and anger 90% and I’m sorry most new players gravitated to the big guns (BB). I dont understand who thought yep this is a good fix.
They're not trying to make the rest of the players angry, they're trying to make carriers more appealing for use. They overtuned for sure! But, this is just the first wave of CV fixes.
I'm a CV main and I have many friends who are CV main and a lot of these changes we never asked for. In fact BB and DD players pushed for these changes and now they (like most of the time) refuse to take responsibility for the monster they created.

Carriers killed the PC version of WoW's and now they'll kill the console version. Carriers are the noob tube of this game. They required next to no skill before and require even less now.

I think the place that Carriers had in Naval military history and power projection can’t be overstated…so many ships and carriers in WW2. It’s 100% made sense with $$ considering
Tommy, i disagree with decreasing squadron sizes. Right now with the fuel, only occasionally will you get the 2nd strike off, almost rarely a third They should: 1. decrease alpha damage across the board 2. increase fuel time (and consumption base off of speed) 3. Reduce plane regen times This makes is so good fuel planning and target placement for multiple strikes will net the player good results. However, if a player plays poorly and looses many planes, ppaces their carrier poorly; they will be punished

I've said this before, we should have an opt out of carrier battles. Now there are more than ever and I have found this week so far that they are still as O/P as ever.
They didn't have to change the spotting, all they had to do was add the gas mechanic and tske out the over heating. It solves perma spotting, and the carrier not having to move from the back of the map. Also if the carrier can only spot ships for itself then that mechanic needs to be done to sonar and radar too. If the carrier can't relay hard spotting, neither can the other ships.
Honestly, I kinda wish I didnt pick up the the admiralty backing this patch. I am not enjoying the current state very much and just not having fun. I also feel obligated now to play because I did pay for the backing. Yeah CVs needed to be tweaked a bit but not overturned like they are now.

Don’t buy it until you finish the campaign. There is no bonus for having it early. You never know what the future holds, you might not be able to finish it for some unforeseen reason.
Although i for one enjoy the new buffs and options as a carrier player,i feel more useless taking into fact that i cant directly spot for my team and that makes carriers seem like damage chasers instead of supporting classes.

BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU WISH FOR. In the past what separated highly skilled cv players who consistently rack up high damage points to your average cv player barely getting any damage points is DISTANCE. Skilled CV players always play as close to the enemy team as possible to not only shorten their flight time to the target but also be able to launch squadrons of torp/bomber planes at a faster rater. BB, DD players got their wish on forcing cv players away from the back and now they are regretting it. A large portion on why cv players are now stacking up damage points at a rate never before seen is because they are forced to play close to the enemy just like the skilled cv players. I'M NOT SAYING THIS IS THE ONLY REASON BUT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT REASON.

Okay, That being said… I’m diving into Carriers again. If anything, this update will get curious players to try CVs again. Personally, I’m finding the rework and “buff” an equalizer of sorts. Carriers are now a force to be reckoned with and only decent teamwork is needed to wipe them out. I’ve been enjoying how decent they are at deploying ordinance damage now… I experimented with TIER 3 thus far with US & IJN VERY dangerous with UK, USSR & G, a not as lethal, but still fun (with some fly by practice) Overall, This update is an EXPERIMENT BTW the fuel limit is VALID, forcing a different way to play (get closer/no WALL STRAFING)
As suggested below, a total plane limit or depleted/ damaged squadrons if too many are lost would feel a bit fairer and make the players think a bit more about strikes. In the same way turrets and torps can be incapacitated or destroyed - I've had many French BB games when I get both turrets blown up and have to get the crew to throw their shoes at the red team - a carrier who is too aggressive should run the same risks
I think either adding another sub-menu to the comma rose/communications, or clicking down on a stick (or both) while you have the comma rose up (r1/right bumper), having the then ability to select what sector of AA you want active may be an option. It would make sense to put it there as the secondary battery and AA on/off are already there. Or, outside of that comma rose, just clicking right and left stick simultaneously to then open up the options of what sectors of AA could work and wouldn’t be that hard to program, or be too cumbersome (maybe DDs that would be hard during active evasive maneuvers)
How about restore the AA mounts after they are bring destroyed. If your ship gets blasted with HE for 5 mins, the AA guns and secondaries are destroyed like 90%. Why cv can get planes if thin air, why not AA? Now the cv prints planes thus it always has them. Ships lose AA with the progression of the match
I played 4 matches since the update Friesland, Mino n Worcester n Petro let me tell even with full AA spec it didn't seem to make any difference. I was already on bubble about how much I wanted to play this patch. But if we're doing an organized rebellion I'm all for it.
I like it better now. I can't wait for it to come to PC. I'd love to be able to use my 20 carriers in WoWs PC to strictly damage farm. I hate being used for spotting only to wind being last place in every match. It'd be great to do high damage so I can get those +1's (karma). I'm actually a DD main, but like playing CVs once in a while. What I don't like is everyone getting upset that I don't spend 100% of my time spotting. With how AA is its hard to spot DD's but they have super AA (Halland) and waste all my planes in just 2 seconds long before I can spot them. Currently DDs are impossible to spot and still do an attack run, thanks to the machine gun delay attack mechanic. With this new rework, it seems rocket attack runs are now possible again.
I'd be happy if running a top AA ship with all AA mods and commanders would guarantee a no fly zone for planes, literally no planes could get through to attack. Would create a hard counter for Carriers and encourage better team play.
Tommy i have a few thoughts on this and Id like to get your opinion. I, personaly, hate the loss of utility of the cvs. Im okay with the arial spotting type but I see an issue. Id like to have the arial spotting pass on the ship names to your teamates. As it is now, unless your are on comms in your cv, the rest of your team has no idea if that cruiser is radar or if the dd spotted is a torp type or a gunboat, has lie a 5.9 km sonar and so on. 2nd is the dd detectability problem. Ive seen dds just rush right between my teamates and come strait to my cv. Flying right over it the whole time, my team can do nothing to help despite being 6km from it. Id like to see a small Detection Bloom to be caused by arial spotting. 1 to 2 km. Hope to hear what you think of my suggestions
Yep...my usual "breaks" from the game mean don't get Adm Backing, and only play a few times a week...THIS break means don't bother logging in until some change is made. I will continue to watch videos, though...good one Tommy!
I think it js more appropriate to consider a cv planes more as the payload vs the armaments attached to a ship as cvs need to conver their time and distance into dmg vs a bb,dd,or crusier firing their gun then waiting for the shell to hit.
spotting changes are great..the unlimited planes and increased ordinance is horrible..after nearly 6 years of playing,i will uninstall if they dont fix the carriers.

I think that they should bring the clear sky requirements back down to 20, I don't know about other players but I ve always struggled with it. In my wowsl career I win it once. And that was on a tier 3 match.
I like a carrier no way they are. They’re really needs to be no different changes other than either add the mechanic to spot back. Keep the fuel. Reduce the detection range of carriers there are a few carriers like the pan Midway to the Russian carriers and one of the German terriers that could use a little nerves but other than that, I enjoy it. I think it fits perfect. There are many ways to counter AA with bubbles, etc.. play smart and another thing they could do is add a third inspiration for legendary commanders. I have been asking for that for a long time that would address every issue simultaneously all in one.
Make it so the player can manually target and shoot the planes. There are some ships with the dual purpose armaments, let people build into hunting the planes.
I’d put money on independence is coming next month in the store….also I think when/if they tone down the carriers they gotta tackle the focusing issue. PC is gonna get a rage meter I’d like to see it come to legends

I played one match as a carrier and was second last to die. One of my planes “survived” and I flew around the map for over 4 mins til the game ended on time. I even got “ your team depends upon you” message. And when it’s all done, the post game stats showed I survived the game… I bet that frustrating for the enemy team to have to come cap my base, while seeing me fly around the map spotting them
If I hadn't spent the 2.5k dubs on getting the backing for the crap campaign ship already (bought mostly for the extras), then I wouldn't be playing this update. I'm a longtime player like most of us (5 yrs) and have seen busted ships/updates come and go - but this update has even me not want to play with the carriers being so OP now. I have 2 carriers and I tried them out and was just embarrased by the sheer damage I could get and I couldn't play them to save myself. Your suggestions are on par with my own thoughts as well. I think they'll be popular for this update until WG nerf them back, then the player base will revert back to normal - whatever that looks like, but its not this.
I got a 180k dmg Shoukaku (who did not receive a squadron increase and in fact a decrease before her upgrade she only drop more bombs of which was needed on her, she either needs to have planes restored reduced to 2 and keep the current restoration time or increase her restoration time.) game yesterday which is my all time record, granted at least 2 bbs had there aa turned off but I got 2 perma floods and a really long burning fire on a crusier. I as a ijn cv player love this I can't win a game on my own thankfully and if i get spotted I am sunk. A step in the right direction but cv's are overtuned but they are not fundamentally broken a number you can fix and tune increasing restoration across the board with the amount varying on the cv and the nation. If more premium cv's get added I will absolutely by them.
i’m a carrier main and i admit the fact that you don’t lose planes ever is broken, but i don’t think they should be nerfed into the ground either and be basically for spotting since carriers are the prevailing force at sea. In game, if you are spotted you are done. They can’t outrun any ship. There’s terrible gameplay from the team out there. They don’t coordinate properly and play solo like an island. In almost all the matches i’ve played with carrier since it came out once i was spotted i was done for
Just redownloaded the game. Got in a battleship, lost all my health to a carrier, got finished off by a battleship. Did effin nothing the whole game thanks to untouchable carrier and his endless swarm of torpedo and bomb bombers. F this game and all carrier players.
In my opinion i think the carriers are fine now, maybe make a few small changes but they are fine, instead of nerfing them how about we buff AA, extend the range on most ships and buff the damage
I love to hear BB main whining about CV’s. Especially from their high skill click every 30” from 15km with P2W captain/ships!!! One more thing since Wows Legends is a WW2 game: which ship is the most decorated of the war? The one that fought in ALL main Pacific theatre battles? After 8 years with tanks and ships I've finally got off the forced treadmill! I love these games. How ever I'm not interested in spending hours every day just grinding operations. I know Tommy knows this . A game should be fun not work😊
I really used to love this game but the balance is so far off to buff a small% of players who play carriers. I am not knocking these players but if you buff carriers this much aa needs to be buffed for all ships. this is one of many reason I have quit this game the devs just dont listen anymore. there is a reason me an alot of players have quit this game an just moved on to other games
It seems to me it's just the legendary tear carriers that are extremely overpowered my tier 7s the Saipan and the cago they don't seem that much better
I played my Saipan and it feels nerfed from the old content. However the Kaga is a DD killer now with the improved accuracy for dive bombs. Kaga is my goto over the Saipan now.
Yes speed of aircraft makes aa way less effective they always gonna get the drops off not enough time to do damage to the planes so absolutely the first thing that needs change is speed! Of aircraft! But AL Chapayev doing 10k with HE every 7 secs is ok, Shimas killing a 110k BB with one torp drop is ok, Now with CVs doing damage is OMG world over, day 2 of Work in progress, and Russian CV is ok right now
Yeah this. I’m seeing a lot of people freak out about 30k CV drops. Don’t BBs get 40k easy not including citadels at legendary tier? Because my damage results at the end of game in a CV and other classes are now more on par with each other
I think the play rate of CVs was so low because carriers were fairly ineffectual before this update besides spotting. Look at the performance of the graf zeppelin. I wouldn’t say the player base doesn’t want CVs at all but they want CVs to be more engaging.
I'm going to be the heartless one here for a minute. I could care less about what carriers were like before this shit went down. This is NOT ok! No way should a carrier overwhelm a ship like an Iowa, which has GOD levels of anti-aircraft. Their AA helped their survival overall in real life. That's why they barely got hit by any kamikazes in the latter half of WW2. All that has happened in this "update" is something akin to what happened with the carriers over on PC. They were alright, but they didn't need an entire rework done, NOR have they done so here on Legends, regardless of what the numbers say. If anything, don't rework what doesn't really need a significant change.
Half of BBs are already backline Betty bitches and now it's gonna get worse....what's the incentive of pushing up when you lose 70 percent or more of your hp in jus 2 fuckin bombin runs. . . Needs more than jus consumables changed

Literally nothing has been fun since destroyers got overtuned by having so many get added and cruisers that can shoot over islands get added too many damn Atlantas in the game

Why not give team mates extra points for playing support of the CV's ? I have a friend that stays within range of my carrier the whole match. If an enemy ship starts coming he engages, wouldn't be great if carriers got points for staying with team mates and providing air cover/support and vice versa for the other ships. You could almost make a mode where defending/attacking the enemy Carriers is a key obj.
Only thing I'm not really a fan of with you is the recon plane. I'm 100% in with DDs being the eyes of the battlefield. Always was more of a fan of the A beat B beats C game style of DD being the eyes but can nuke unaware BBs out of the water, Cruisers being the DD hunters and DPM ships, and BBs being the tank/ sniper esk ship that is the direct counter to cruisers. My exact stance on what should be done with CVs from here was exactly everything else you said. In fact there was a comment on reddit I left that said pretty much everything you're saying. I want CVs to be a full on support ship class that acts as a DCP pressure tool. Think of them as the elemental slingers or DoT classes from MMOs. Now with the added fire & flood chance I do think there would either need to be changes to either the DCP cooldown, perks in skill trees especially those for ships with limited DCPs. There's an answer there I'm just not sure how far we would need to go until we see what a DoT class looks like. They would need to still tone down either the resto of CVs, or lower plane HP even further, or like you suggested lower squadron size drastically. Because like everyone else is saying right now even with AA builds on the enemy team it really doesn't matter how much planes are shot down the CV will almost always have full squads to play with. I would love to see CVs be the support class that acts on pressuring the DCPs of ships. Keep the resto pretty quick but not Neverending like it currently is, severely lower the alpha damage per launch but increase the fire and flood chance by a pretty good amount, and then in my opinion CVs could be in a really good place. Hopefully WG is willing to give this idea a shot because I honestly think if they just lower the alpha they'll still be a problem for either cruisers or DDs.
Dumb rant in the end this rework was to promote more teamwork and less lonewolf dds sitting on edge of the maps . its a fine change just get use to it and stop crying or stop playing
I was Playing Tier 3 british cruiser Danae for a mission and I got one shot nuked by an enemy russian carrier Komsomolets. I honestly don't know how it happened, I just know it was with the bombs. I was flabbergasted
Why can't they give planes more health?Make the carriers not be able launch when being fired on.Then with the planes having more health only give the carrier the historical amount of planes it can carry.
I am over 50 and have been playing over 3 years. I play wowl to relax some nights after work. I don't play carriers because to play good, It is a frantic playstyle. I spent $500 last Xmas to collect more ships, so WG has plenty of my money. I guess they don't want amy more. Already bought the campaign and went 11-0 last night with my fleet. But I will keep my playing time to a minimum going forward. I am not having fun at LT and tier 8.
Everybody is bitching about cvs being too powerful that now they'll just damage hunt, well, haven't they already been doing that? I don't care about cvs, but it feels like nothing really changed, besides the spotting. They already were difficult to deal with, so not like things are different. Just now, pilots don't spot, that's about it
Well the problem is they increase the damage a lot to the point where people are easy able to get 300 to 400k games which before was rare even with the other class and oh boy if you are using a ship with weak AA just considered you're self dead as they will mostly target you first and kill extremely fast
Carriers didn't ruin the game, but most players didn't want them. Wargaming's mistake (which they often do) was spending development money because of the cries of a vocal minority who will always find something to criticize

That said, a completely unbiased thought of mine. Carriers HAVE to have some kind of close-range danger. That close-range danger should be losing planes. However, if you just respawn planes infinitely then that danger no longer exists. In a perfect world a carrier would have to play strategically and bring as many planes back as possible after an attack run to keep from running out completely. My biggest change would be to eliminate plane respawn. You get what you get (40, 50, maybe 60 depending on carrier and nation) and when they're gone they're gone. Do you go hard and try to end the game early? Do you play cautious and focus on the long game? Can you attack strategically in ways that conserve planes? Maybe not very "new player friendly" but about the most fair single bit of balancing I can think of

I'll be playing more AI and avoiding Standard when and where possible. This updated has made it easier to move onto another game. I've spent a lot of time and money on this for the enjoyment, but I'm not enjoying this update.
GG Tommy from the Worcester that game I shot down 39 planes from Hakuryu that game almost clear skies : ) No DFAA needed but your air support was appriecated majorly. Thank you for the support on that flank. I got the cap but as you saw I had a Monty pushing and some enemy ships over there. My AA range is 8.7km with that build : )
So I have heard ( not verified ) that carrier “mains” are like 7% but let’s say 10%. Why from a business standpoint would you make a huge change to please 10% and anger 90% and I’m sorry most new players gravitated to the big guns (BB). I dont understand who thought yep this is a good fix.
They're not trying to make the rest of the players angry, they're trying to make carriers more appealing for use. They overtuned for sure! But, this is just the first wave of CV fixes.
I'm a CV main and I have many friends who are CV main and a lot of these changes we never asked for. In fact BB and DD players pushed for these changes and now they (like most of the time) refuse to take responsibility for the monster they created.

Tommy, i disagree with decreasing squadron sizes.
Right now with the fuel, only occasionally will you get the 2nd strike off, almost rarely a third
They should:
1. decrease alpha damage across the board
2. increase fuel time (and consumption base off of speed)
3. Reduce plane regen times
This makes is so good fuel planning and target placement for multiple strikes will net the player good results.
However, if a player plays poorly and looses many planes, ppaces their carrier poorly; they will be punished

I've said this before, we should have an opt out of carrier battles. Now there are more than ever and I have found this week so far that they are still as O/P as ever.
They didn't have to change the spotting, all they had to do was add the gas mechanic and tske out the over heating. It solves perma spotting, and the carrier not having to move from the back of the map.
Also if the carrier can only spot ships for itself then that mechanic needs to be done to sonar and radar too. If the carrier can't relay hard spotting, neither can the other ships.
Honestly, I kinda wish I didnt pick up the the admiralty backing this patch. I am not enjoying the current state very much and just not having fun. I also feel obligated now to play because I did pay for the backing. Yeah CVs needed to be tweaked a bit but not overturned like they are now.

Don’t buy it until you finish the campaign. There is no bonus for having it early. You never know what the future holds, you might not be able to finish it for some unforeseen reason.
Although i for one enjoy the new buffs and options as a carrier player,i feel more useless taking into fact that i cant directly spot for my team and that makes carriers seem like damage chasers instead of supporting classes.

BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU WISH FOR. In the past what separated highly skilled cv players who consistently rack up high damage points to your average cv player barely getting any damage points is DISTANCE. Skilled CV players always play as close to the enemy team as possible to not only shorten their flight time to the target but also be able to launch squadrons of torp/bomber planes at a faster rater.
BB, DD players got their wish on forcing cv players away from the back and now they are regretting it. A large portion on why cv players are now stacking up damage points at a rate never before seen is because they are forced to play close to the enemy just like the skilled cv players. I'M NOT SAYING THIS IS THE ONLY REASON BUT THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT REASON.
I think they need to have a 12 ship version of the game where carriers are allowed then just remove them from the traditional 9 ship games

I’m finding the rework and “buff” an equalizer of sorts.
Carriers are now a force to be reckoned with and only decent teamwork is needed to wipe them out.
I’ve been enjoying how decent they are at deploying ordinance damage now… I experimented with TIER 3 thus far with US & IJN VERY dangerous with UK, USSR & G, a not as lethal, but still fun (with some fly by practice)

BTW the fuel limit is VALID, forcing a different way to play (get closer/no WALL STRAFING)
As suggested below, a total plane limit or depleted/ damaged squadrons if too many are lost would feel a bit fairer and make the players think a bit more about strikes. In the same way turrets and torps can be incapacitated or destroyed - I've had many French BB games when I get both turrets blown up and have to get the crew to throw their shoes at the red team - a carrier who is too aggressive should run the same risks
I think either adding another sub-menu to the comma rose/communications, or clicking down on a stick (or both) while you have the comma rose up (r1/right bumper), having the then ability to select what sector of AA you want active may be an option. It would make sense to put it there as the secondary battery and AA on/off are already there. Or, outside of that comma rose, just clicking right and left stick simultaneously to then open up the options of what sectors of AA could work and wouldn’t be that hard to program, or be too cumbersome (maybe DDs that would be hard during active evasive maneuvers)

If your ship gets blasted with HE for 5 mins, the AA guns and secondaries are destroyed like 90%.
Why cv can get planes if thin air, why not AA? Now the cv prints planes thus it always has them. Ships lose AA with the progression of the match
I played 4 matches since the update Friesland, Mino n Worcester n Petro let me tell even with full AA spec it didn't seem to make any difference. I was already on bubble about how much I wanted to play this patch. But if we're doing an organized rebellion I'm all for it.
I like it better now. I can't wait for it to come to PC. I'd love to be able to use my 20 carriers in WoWs PC to strictly damage farm. I hate being used for spotting only to wind being last place in every match. It'd be great to do high damage so I can get those +1's (karma). I'm actually a DD main, but like playing CVs once in a while. What I don't like is everyone getting upset that I don't spend 100% of my time spotting. With how AA is its hard to spot DD's but they have super AA (Halland) and waste all my planes in just 2 seconds long before I can spot them. Currently DDs are impossible to spot and still do an attack run, thanks to the machine gun delay attack mechanic. With this new rework, it seems rocket attack runs are now possible again.
I'd be happy if running a top AA ship with all AA mods and commanders would guarantee a no fly zone for planes, literally no planes could get through to attack.
Would create a hard counter for Carriers and encourage better team play.
Tommy i have a few thoughts on this and Id like to get your opinion. I, personaly, hate the loss of utility of the cvs. Im okay with the arial spotting type but I see an issue. Id like to have the arial spotting pass on the ship names to your teamates. As it is now, unless your are on comms in your cv, the rest of your team has no idea if that cruiser is radar or if the dd spotted is a torp type or a gunboat, has lie a 5.9 km sonar and so on. 2nd is the dd detectability problem. Ive seen dds just rush right between my teamates and come strait to my cv. Flying right over it the whole time, my team can do nothing to help despite being 6km from it. Id like to see a small Detection Bloom to be caused by arial spotting. 1 to 2 km. Hope to hear what you think of my suggestions
Yep...my usual "breaks" from the game mean don't get Adm Backing, and only play a few times a week...THIS break means don't bother logging in until some change is made. I will continue to watch videos, though...good one Tommy!
I think it js more appropriate to consider a cv planes more as the payload vs the armaments attached to a ship as cvs need to conver their time and distance into dmg vs a bb,dd,or crusier firing their gun then waiting for the shell to hit.

I think that they should bring the clear sky requirements back down to 20, I don't know about other players but I ve always struggled with it. In my wowsl career I win it once. And that was on a tier 3 match.
I like a carrier no way they are. They’re really needs to be no different changes other than either add the mechanic to spot back. Keep the fuel. Reduce the detection range of carriers there are a few carriers like the pan Midway to the Russian carriers and one of the German terriers that could use a little nerves but other than that, I enjoy it. I think it fits perfect. There are many ways to counter AA with bubbles, etc.. play smart and another thing they could do is add a third inspiration for legendary commanders. I have been asking for that for a long time that would address every issue simultaneously all in one.
Make it so the player can manually target and shoot the planes. There are some ships with the dual purpose armaments, let people build into hunting the planes.
I’d put money on independence is coming next month in the store….also I think when/if they tone down the carriers they gotta tackle the focusing issue. PC is gonna get a rage meter I’d like to see it come to legends

Nicely done, people have two years talking about CVs but they don't use AA builds, I have that on my Georgia from a long long long time
I played one match as a carrier and was second last to die. One of my planes “survived” and I flew around the map for over 4 mins til the game ended on time. I even got “ your team depends upon you” message. And when it’s all done, the post game stats showed I survived the game… I bet that frustrating for the enemy team to have to come cap my base, while seeing me fly around the map spotting them

Absolutely horrendous. They didn’t need a change. If anything if they just reworked AA and added fuel that would’ve balanced better.
Even when this game was frustrating previously, I played most days. I just have no desire to play all now.
If I hadn't spent the 2.5k dubs on getting the backing for the crap campaign ship already (bought mostly for the extras), then I wouldn't be playing this update. I'm a longtime player like most of us (5 yrs) and have seen busted ships/updates come and go - but this update has even me not want to play with the carriers being so OP now. I have 2 carriers and I tried them out and was just embarrased by the sheer damage I could get and I couldn't play them to save myself. Your suggestions are on par with my own thoughts as well. I think they'll be popular for this update until WG nerf them back, then the player base will revert back to normal - whatever that looks like, but its not this.

I got a 180k dmg Shoukaku (who did not receive a squadron increase and in fact a decrease before her upgrade she only drop more bombs of which was needed on her, she either needs to have planes restored reduced to 2 and keep the current restoration time or increase her restoration time.) game yesterday which is my all time record, granted at least 2 bbs had there aa turned off but I got 2 perma floods and a really long burning fire on a crusier. I as a ijn cv player love this I can't win a game on my own thankfully and if i get spotted I am sunk. A step in the right direction but cv's are overtuned but they are not fundamentally broken a number you can fix and tune increasing restoration across the board with the amount varying on the cv and the nation. If more premium cv's get added I will absolutely by them.
i’m a carrier main and i admit the fact that you don’t lose planes ever is broken, but i don’t think they should be nerfed into the ground either and be basically for spotting since carriers are the prevailing force at sea. In game, if you are spotted you are done. They can’t outrun any ship. There’s terrible gameplay from the team out there. They don’t coordinate properly and play solo like an island. In almost all the matches i’ve played with carrier since it came out once i was spotted i was done for
Just redownloaded the game. Got in a battleship, lost all my health to a carrier, got finished off by a battleship. Did effin nothing the whole game thanks to untouchable carrier and his endless swarm of torpedo and bomb bombers. F this game and all carrier players.
Why not use the communication wheel to set a priority sector and just remove most of the unused items in the current wheel.
In my opinion i think the carriers are fine now, maybe make a few small changes but they are fine, instead of nerfing them how about we buff AA, extend the range on most ships and buff the damage

It seems to me it's just the legendary tear carriers that are extremely overpowered my tier 7s the Saipan and the cago they don't seem that much better
I played my Saipan and it feels nerfed from the old content. However the Kaga is a DD killer now with the improved accuracy for dive bombs. Kaga is my goto over the Saipan now.
Cv strength to me, gets more apparent as you go up the tiers.

I think the play rate of CVs was so low because carriers were fairly ineffectual before this update besides spotting.
Look at the performance of the graf zeppelin. I wouldn’t say the player base doesn’t want CVs at all but they want CVs to be more engaging.

I'm going to be the heartless one here for a minute. I could care less about what carriers were like before this shit went down. This is NOT ok! No way should a carrier overwhelm a ship like an Iowa, which has GOD levels of anti-aircraft. Their AA helped their survival overall in real life. That's why they barely got hit by any kamikazes in the latter half of WW2. All that has happened in this "update" is something akin to what happened with the carriers over on PC. They were alright, but they didn't need an entire rework done, NOR have they done so here on Legends, regardless of what the numbers say. If anything, don't rework what doesn't really need a significant change.

Why not give team mates extra points for playing support of the CV's ? I have a friend that stays within range of my carrier the whole match. If an enemy ship starts coming he engages, wouldn't be great if carriers got points for staying with team mates and providing air cover/support and vice versa for the other ships. You could almost make a mode where defending/attacking the enemy Carriers is a key obj.
Only thing I'm not really a fan of with you is the recon plane. I'm 100% in with DDs being the eyes of the battlefield. Always was more of a fan of the A beat B beats C game style of DD being the eyes but can nuke unaware BBs out of the water, Cruisers being the DD hunters and DPM ships, and BBs being the tank/ sniper esk ship that is the direct counter to cruisers.
My exact stance on what should be done with CVs from here was exactly everything else you said. In fact there was a comment on reddit I left that said pretty much everything you're saying. I want CVs to be a full on support ship class that acts as a DCP pressure tool. Think of them as the elemental slingers or DoT classes from MMOs. Now with the added fire & flood chance I do think there would either need to be changes to either the DCP cooldown, perks in skill trees especially those for ships with limited DCPs. There's an answer there I'm just not sure how far we would need to go until we see what a DoT class looks like.
They would need to still tone down either the resto of CVs, or lower plane HP even further, or like you suggested lower squadron size drastically. Because like everyone else is saying right now even with AA builds on the enemy team it really doesn't matter how much planes are shot down the CV will almost always have full squads to play with.
I would love to see CVs be the support class that acts on pressuring the DCPs of ships. Keep the resto pretty quick but not Neverending like it currently is, severely lower the alpha damage per launch but increase the fire and flood chance by a pretty good amount, and then in my opinion CVs could be in a really good place. Hopefully WG is willing to give this idea a shot because I honestly think if they just lower the alpha they'll still be a problem for either cruisers or DDs.

But you gotta remember some carriers like Zuiho Graf Zeppelin and LT and tier 3 carriers needed this tho too

I was Playing Tier 3 british cruiser Danae for a mission and I got one shot nuked by an enemy russian carrier Komsomolets. I honestly don't know how it happened, I just know it was with the bombs. I was flabbergasted
Why can't they give planes more health?Make the carriers not be able launch when being fired on.Then with the planes having more health only give the carrier the historical amount of planes it can carry.
I am over 50 and have been playing over 3 years. I play wowl to relax some nights after work. I don't play carriers because to play good, It is a frantic playstyle. I spent $500 last Xmas to collect more ships, so WG has plenty of my money. I guess they don't want amy more. Already bought the campaign and went 11-0 last night with my fleet. But I will keep my playing time to a minimum going forward. I am not having fun at LT and tier 8.

Everybody is bitching about cvs being too powerful that now they'll just damage hunt, well, haven't they already been doing that? I don't care about cvs, but it feels like nothing really changed, besides the spotting. They already were difficult to deal with, so not like things are different. Just now, pilots don't spot, that's about it
Well the problem is they increase the damage a lot to the point where people are easy able to get 300 to 400k games which before was rare even with the other class and oh boy if you are using a ship with weak AA just considered you're self dead as they will mostly target you first and kill extremely fast

Carriers didn't ruin the game, but most players didn't want them. Wargaming's mistake (which they often do) was spending development money because of the cries of a vocal minority who will always find something to criticize

I think we all started playing this game because of the original, "3 ship dynamic"..boats on the water , shooting guns at one another...now its turned into a flying game...im just not interested in it
