I wanted to be judgemental, but it’s very obvious how hard the decision was, you are a team, a family and you need to make the decision that’s best for all. ❤

You have done the right thing for all concerned. It’s totally understandable that it’s not fair on you husband to be so affected by your cats. I hope they’ve settled down nicely in their new homes.

My heart breaks for you. 💔
I remember you helped Barry with an HR matter back in 2019 from De Velde.
We also relocated and at the time I also had an offer to rehome our cat who was a rescue since she was a kitten we have had her. During lockdown, I was alone in CPT and she was my only companion. The thought of giving her away at the time broke my heart and it is not an easy decision to take them with or leave them behind in someone else's care.
We also have a little one, he's an energetic 3yr old and luckily our Jellybean is a gentle and patient soul who also craves attention.
I felt just like you post-partum, sensory overload, breastfeeding every day, all the stimulus that comes with that alone.. feeling like being 'over touched' even though the only one to actually be around you all day is your baby. I know what that was like for me and can only imagine how tough it must be for you.
Here in the UK finding a place that is pet friendly is also a challenge and never mind the cost of living. To struggle with health issues that no one understands is in itself a whole other challenge.
I'm so sorry you are getting backlash for the most difficult decision a person can make when it comes to their pets. I cried the whole video through cause I felt your pain so deeply - maybe also made me remember leaving my pets behind when we moved houses and towns shortly after we finished with school. I still miss my pets even though they are now in a better place 😔
People will judge and won't always understand the decisions we make, and that's ok, but then they shouldn't judge or leave hurtful comments no matter the result, they have no clue what you are going through, emotionally, mentally, being a new mom and figuring things out, no support network of friends or family...
You did what you felt was the best decision for your family and yes you will miss your cats and they will never be replaced, but your soul can be at peace knowing they are still loved and cared for by another family that will look after them as well. 🤗🌸

I also wanted to add, have you tried a calendula based cream. I know Weleda had a nappy cream that Calendula based and this helped my sons rash which the Dr's had no clue what it was. We also have dry air in the homes due to having heaters on all winter. I know you maybe have tried everything but maybe a soothing and healing cream as such might give some relief. Hope Ian's skin gets better soon.

It's always sad to have to rehome pets, but if they make someone in the household sick, there's just no other way.

People who doesn't live on the prairies can't imagine how dry our air is, especially in winter. And people who doesn't live here can't imagine how extreme the cold is which force us indoors much more than provinces that have milder weather. So any allergy in this environment, especially winter, is much worse here.
I know when my husband's hay fever would start in spring, he was extra sensitive to things that normally won't trigger allergies in him. I think your husband's allergies were enhanced for so long by the cats that it will take time for his body to come down to normal levels. I think you will only see the advantage of not having cats anymore, once your husband's allergy levels are down and you will notice no flare-ups anymore or not to the extend when your cats were still with you. Did you replace the filter in the furnace after you re-homed your cats? Maybe also get a furnace cleaning company come and clean the furnace and ducts in case there are some cat hair still somewhere.
I'm glad you found great homes for your cats. Now it's your heart that needs to heal. They are fine and are happy. Older cats that grew up in a quiet low-key environment doesn't always adapt well to children and the chaotic environment that comes with little kids. They become very stressed. So you did them just as much a favor.
