Sorry for the delay, didn’t expect a question on lessons from this video. Have you tried some of the tutorial videos? What level are you? Beginner/ intermediate?
Ladyva's playing is absolutely magical, coupled with her magical ability to swap her bracelet from one wrist to the other whilst playing is an astounding skill
Good one Cliff. Surprised her dress didn't change to multi coloured floral as well. They must've edited and mixed and matched for sound quality reasons or something similar.
Totally agree. I think she deserves a better place than 5th. In my opinnion, the right ranking should be 5) Stephanie Trick; 4) Dona Oxford; 3) Ladyva; 2) Winifred Atwell; 1) Martha Davis.
I am surprised Ladyva being fifth. She has a flow that is magical and to watch, it is not merely her hands playing but all of her - she is totally into her own play and that makes her number one, I say.
I would love to see the last lady in the red shirt and black skirt play with Dr K Boogie Woogie! I've already seen the first lady play with Dr K and she is awesome! Love this music!
The right speed is great point, even the great Meade lux Lewis succumbed to trying to play too fast in the end. It’s important to be able to hear those rolls and feel the swing.
Wow brocks boogie! Rocks!!!! Dona oxford no. 1. She just blew me away! And what a beautiful performer! Hall of fame fingerwork! A++. Thankyou dona oxford my depression is lifting! My father was mr. Boogie woogue, lumbros kourlis. We called him pops lefty. You are on his level. He passed away 35 years ago in my arms large cell carcinoma cancer in 3 months and left a hole in my heart sooo bug you can drive a mack truck thru it still! You reall hit that keyboard so perfect it had me floating and looking fir my drum sticks, a Big big big "thankyou" !!!!!!!!!!!❤😂🎉 Truely the best ive ever had heard!!! Im buying you recodings...thankyou jesus!!!❤😂🎉
Lumbros kourlos was was a tax account in st. Clair shores, michigan. 48080 on 21941 9 miles rd. After he finished your taxes he would often get up and play 30 mins of boogie boogie for you on his Steinway baby grand piano! He was a left hand stride fats waller copy cat! Trust me if you ever heard him you would all agree he was the GOAT! REST IN PEACE DADDY! ILL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN SOON!
I had to smile. My mother played the Bumble Bee Boogie. She was born in Iowa in 1918 and grew up in the Roaring Twenties. I think playing boogie woogie was a small act of rebellion, a way of telling her parents that she would make her own choices.
I think this is one of the best comments I have ever received for a video. That’s why I play, teach and broadcast boogie woogie, so glad it connected with you Steve and a great story. Maybe we have some similar experience from other viewers?
The first lady that played, I thought , by golly she is as beautiful as the music she plays. I was tappin my toes and boopin my head to the beat, and she smiled and I thought damn she is good. She's extremely great at Boogie Woogie and off the charts beautiful.
And she does that AMAZING magic trick where her bracelet keeps switching from her left wrist to her right wrist and back, all while playing the piano. She should bring that trick to Penn and Teller.
Sheesh, that Dona Oxford is not only a boogie woogie master but a great showwoman! They're all great in this vid. Thanks for creating/sharing it, Boss.
She is awesome, never new bout her till show on New Orleans La. Smoking that key board , would have luv to seen her jam with Killer Jerry lee Lewis in his younger days They would have knock your socks Off lol 😝, God bless them both
Thank you--my soul instantly recognized Ladyva as my twin flame! ...and she acknowledged it in her song/video "To Whom Do I Want To Lie" (remember, she's Swiss, thinking in German) ❤I don't want this to end, Vanessa! ☦
No.5 , got my vote for no.1, but, they all are phenomenal musicians, but, the grace and the beautiful atmosphere of the lighting, the settings, the way the keys flowed beneath her fingers, like fine silk rustling in the breeze. Did I mention that she was HOT!. It did it for me. A class A act. Simply beautiful....
I get that, I’ve played music all my life mainly guitar but when I started on the piano boogie woogie was like a calling. 90% of my music time is spent enjoying boogie woogie.
.... they are all great ... but ... Miss Ladyva's left hand is a "force of nature" ... it is like the Union Pacific's #4014 ... the "Big Boy" ... the most powerful steam engine ever built that ran/runs on the RR tracks of the USA, to this day ... Powerful and Relentless !!!! ... AWESOME !!! ... and then there is that SMILE !!!
She is one of the top 10 in my library of misic ranging from A-Z, I can't stop listening to her, when I listen to someone else, I end up back to LADYVA!!!
The reverse image is being displayed when the camera shows just her hands compared to the image showing her face and torso. You know the bracelet is the same.
@@jamesbockenstette4332 1 seconde geleden @James Bockenstette It is not a reverse image because the low&high notes as well as the brand name of the instrument are not reversed! Also is she wearing clearly only one bracelet
I love Lady Va, but Dona is just the heart and soul of Boogie Woogie. Her performance just bounces every time. If you see someone playing boogie woogie and they're not bouncing and smiling, they're just not in that zone.
These phenomenal women are literally blowing my mind! The talent. individuality, incredible skill, dedication and time it would have taken to play like that...
My Mum was a great pianist who had been classically taught, and she was a big fan of Winifred Atwell. Whenever Mum played the Boogie Woogie we kids had to sit in the windows to see if our grandparents were coming along the road. If we saw them we would immediately warn Mum and she would change to playing Rock of Ages . They were big church people and did not approve of such decadent music as the Boogie Woogie.
They are all outstanding pianists and I love Ladyva for her all round talent, but Dona Oxford wins this hands down for her showmanship as much as her piano playing. What an awesome performance!
In terms of performances, my top two favorites in this are indeed Martha Davis and Stephanie Trick. AFAIK Ms Davis is IMPROVISING and Stephanie is PLAYING A TRANSCRIPTION, but I’ll be damned if she doesn’t NAIL that transcription perfectly, with the right feel and everything.

They are all good and have unique individual style. It’s not right to put one against the other. My favorite is Ladyva!

She made me go and buy a piano
Now I wish you would come to my house and teach me how to play it
Ladyva is till my fave and I am 84 and have heard it all.
I'm glad to hear that - she knocked me out with her playing - best I've hear in 60 years!

I frankly never imagined piano music can be this...danceable...i love woogie boogie...!
I’m 85 and it’s this music that gets me up off the couch dancing! Wow!
ladyva---- magnificent, magical!
My favorite is Ladyva. She plays GREAT piano AND can magically move her bracelet from one arm to the other between notes.
LOL!
She makes a great video, her director was probably the reason for that, not her. Her talent was flawless.... director, not so much....
Very good!!
🙄😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's magic ..
Too funny.
Ladyva is the best l have ever seen she should be number 1
WE SAW LADYVA IN 2015 , ON THE JERRY LEE LEWIS ,LONDON SHOW. SHE WAS EXCELLENT !! ---- JOHN UK --
For me one of the best Boogie Woogie players. Gongratulations Ladyva.

Just recently discovered her and have been totally amazed with her playing. All the ladies on this vid are outstanding.
an understatement amigo
It’s Ladyva for me. She has the right speed, the excellent left hand, the beautiful way of playing proper boogie woogie, and, the looks.

Wow!! What a left hand Martha Davis!! Jaw dropping!!
Dona.....wow what an entertainer she is!!!

For a non player of any instrument, but a lover of great music, this is magical ! 💐
You could pick up an instrument and work at learning enough to play along a little. It is a lot of fun.
