Ladyva's playing is absolutely magical, coupled with her magical ability to swap her bracelet from one wrist to the other whilst playing is an astounding skill
Good one Cliff. Surprised her dress didn't change to multi coloured floral as well. They must've edited and mixed and matched for sound quality reasons or something similar.
Totally agree. I think she deserves a better place than 5th. In my opinnion, the right ranking should be 5) Stephanie Trick; 4) Dona Oxford; 3) Ladyva; 2) Winifred Atwell; 1) Martha Davis.
I am surprised Ladyva being fifth. She has a flow that is magical and to watch, it is not merely her hands playing but all of her - she is totally into her own play and that makes her number one, I say.
The right speed is great point, even the great Meade lux Lewis succumbed to trying to play too fast in the end. It’s important to be able to hear those rolls and feel the swing.

I had to smile. My mother played the Bumble Bee Boogie. She was born in Iowa in 1918 and grew up in the Roaring Twenties. I think playing boogie woogie was a small act of rebellion, a way of telling her parents that she would make her own choices.
I think this is one of the best comments I have ever received for a video. That’s why I play, teach and broadcast boogie woogie, so glad it connected with you Steve and a great story. Maybe we have some similar experience from other viewers?
The first lady that played, I thought , by golly she is as beautiful as the music she plays. I was tappin my toes and boopin my head to the beat, and she smiled and I thought damn she is good. She's extremely great at Boogie Woogie and off the charts beautiful.
And she does that AMAZING magic trick where her bracelet keeps switching from her left wrist to her right wrist and back, all while playing the piano. She should bring that trick to Penn and Teller.
The reverse image is being displayed when the camera shows just her hands compared to the image showing her face and torso. You know the bracelet is the same.

Go Lady-Va. You are “Ms Boogie-Woogie” as far as I’m concerned. The Best in the World. Devinely Blessed. Absolutely Brilliant. Magically Captivating. A Uniquely Classy Woman. And, The Piano is merely an extension of your Heart and Soul. They say that a Military Jet-Fighter Ace, is not just a good pilot, but rather a person who, as they sit down in the ejection seat, metaphorically straps their body and their mind into the aircraft, and the Two become One. When I want to be light hearted, smile, or feel good - I listen to you play! What is interesting is that I have never played any instrument, nor do I know anything about music. But, when I hear great music, it captivates me. I’ve heard Mozart in a small German Classical Music Hall, and can still to this day see the orchestra and hear his music, which was over 30+ years ago. I was in Las Vegas over 4 decades ago, and Elvis was playing. I took this once and a lifetime opportunity for granted, and thought that I could see him some other time. I regret that to this day. In my mind, Lady-Va, you are in the same class of the greatest musicians in history. I may be a music-nobody, but I’m surely one of your best fans.
I love Lady Va, but Dona is just the heart and soul of Boogie Woogie. Her performance just bounces every time. If you see someone playing boogie woogie and they're not bouncing and smiling, they're just not in that zone.
Always simply great! The Boogie Ladies are good to look at and wonderful to listen to. You forget the time and what you were about to do. Thank you very much. Thx boogie woogie.

My favorite is Ladyva. She plays GREAT piano AND can magically move her bracelet from one arm to the other between notes.
