I'm so glad that I finally have come to know and love Steve Hillage. I've been watching a bunch of his mid to late 70s live stuff as well as some recent performances including his demonstration of his gliss technique. I'm glad that he is with us and sharing his gift. He's the real deal. Give him all your money.
I was expecting a stoned wrinkled old hippie but what I got was a very together, relatively young looking and eloquent Steve Hillage! This man is an awesome musician, I personally prefer the Gong era but his amazing talent is very evident in all of his projects. He comes across as a really nice bloke too.

i'd love to see some 'smart' peoples of music over the world that usually think the beatles was too mainstream to watch this fckin' video,and hope they will find the right path...Hillage kill it man!
Great in his day, however, found his other scene, and i don blame him for doing what he wanted to do, but turning his back on this scene and claiming he never liked it anyway.
For sure , he has been influenced by Jimmy , and it can be heard on so many solos he had played , if I can add a word , just real moments geniously jocky, within so deep and strange atmospheres , well , hope Steve could do more now , if possible without repeating ...Wait for the Great Hillary Show !!!
Bless musicians and composers who do their own thing, and thank GOD for prog, without which music would be a much, much poorer artform, at least outside the classical mold.
I see what Steve means about people not getting his dance music albums and how they relate to what he was doing in the 70's. I'm really not into dance music. I'd much rather hear a real drummer playing those pre-programmed beats. For me, those digital drum machines removes most of the human element that made Gong and Steve's music in the 70's work so well for me, but at the same time, it's not my music, it's Steve's and Miquette's music and their entitled to do whatever they want with it.

I found Steve's answer very interesting, that he's not sure that the people who hate his dance music really understood what he was doing in the 70s. When I listen to "Power of 7", for example, I can see how it has evolved directly from what he was doing in the 1970s. Still experimental, just different, a different kind of energy I can really get into. I guess he had had enough of guitar noodling. Though I love his 70s guitar stuff too.

A really nice bloke and seriously under represented given the massive contribution he made to the musical renaissance of the early to mid 70's.
Steve saw Jimi playing at close quarters, well that explains everything, Steve and Jimi will ever be geniuses.
