Casio has made the previa to be a center piece inside a room/home. The design of their pianos are miles ahead of the competition.

@@HighlandStudio91 Thanks for your input. I've just started researching for a digital piano to buy for myself. I hadn't heard about Kurzweil until I read your comment so I looked them up and I have to say that I'm thoroughly dissapointed. They have some of the most average looking digital pianos I've come across yet. Most of their designs look like cheap plastic boxes. I will credit though that their higher end digital pianos aren't as bad, at least they look like they're only 5 years behind instead of 10.

Other brands should wake up, people want nice design pieces in their home, not particleboard box with fake wood on top looking like a writing desk from 90s. Finally make pianos look stylish.

Thanks Jack for your great review. I think Casio design team have done a great job. This may be a wake up call for other brands to stop repeating old designs with new names. Casio has also made great progress in recent years regarding sound and action quality.

    • @HighlandStudio91
      @HighlandStudio91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Casio is a wake up call? You are completely delusional. Kurzweil puts Casio to shame and does it for less money. Do you even have the slightest clue, as to the price tag of this shit-box? Casio wants $2,700 for a puke-yellow keyboard with a miniscule display screen. There are so many other vastly superior options, at this price point.

4:22 "I am sure some people will put weights on it and measure it and all such things." Those weights mean IMHO very little. Yamaha P-515 needs pretty much weight, but has excellent response, better than the Kawais and Rolands I tested in my local piano-center. And I tested thoroughly, multiple times. Both speed runs and repetitive hammering on one key.
Thanks for another great review from JH! I appreciate his videos very much!

If I recall correctly, one critic I've seen in the past Casio piano is about the differences between the white key and the black key next to it. The required weight to push down the key is drastically different so the reviewer call it off.

As I'm sure others may have pointed out... those two buttons top left are assignable. Out of the box they trigger the arpeggiator, but can be whatever you want them to be, incl transpose +/-, calling up effects or other patches. The "control" button toggles the leslie speaker rotation on/off. The keyboard also has 100+ rhythms incl full accompaniment mode with full band and basses, the individual instruments of which can be changed to whatever you wish, and which will follow your left, right hand or both very smartly. Bluetooth audio in only, BT MIDI out.
Not a fan of the mustard but the gloss black is just stunning. I actually bought one but I'm sending it back b/c my OCD will make me crazy: the control wheel is a virtual (not mechanical) wheel, which means hours of spinning your finger around on the glossy surface which will leave smears and make me crazy.
I also don't like all the layering and FX controls being buried in the menu system and all the tapping and scrolling. Fine for at-home entertaining the neighbors, I suppose, but a nightmare onstage where you have to make changes on the fly, where a CP88, a Studiologic Numa X Piano GT (with real wooden keys, not just veneers, triple sensor and escapement for $1999), or, of course, the bestial Nord would come in handy.
I don't need the speakers, would never or at least rarely use them because I've never heard onboard speakers worth the weight they add to the board. If it's just me I can use headphones, if I'm playing live I'm always in my own sound rig and/or the house.
Being this slick and this overpriced makes this the Apple Watch Pro of home keyboards, when you consider the many other alternatives priced below $2k (this thing is $2.5k). It's a very nice, extremely well-built status toy for people into that sort of thing, when comparable performance value exists at a lower price point. I bought one because it looks cool, and it really, really does. But then I woke up and sent it back. It's a great board, but I need a tool not a toy.
BTW: the Casio Privia PX-S3100, which performs 90% of what this thing does and has nearly twice the number of voices and is also almost the exact same form factor of glossy black nightmare, is $1,621 less than this and a grand less than the s7000's (somewhat) less expensive version, the s6000. I'm not sure what I was paying the extra THOUSAND dollars for--the wood veneers on the side of the keys, I suppose.
I am likely to grab up an s3100 just so it can sit it in my living room and look pretty.

Phew, I really like it, loads of good ideas, but it's quite pricey, even the yellow paint costs £240 extra 😱 According to the press release, the PX-S7000HM will have a price of RRP £2,249, THE PX-S7000WE/BK at £2,099, the PX-S6000 at £1,499 and PX-S5000 offered at £999, release date in October.

@@Echochamber79 To be fair, these people have a point, this Casio Privia S7000 at $2,500 for either black or white and $2,700 for the Harmonious Mustard color is the most expensive digital piano on the market right now being Casio's flagship model. In comparison the flagship model from Rowland, the FP-90X, is currently at a price point of $2,000 the flagship model from Yamaha the P515 is only $1,600, and the flagship model from Kawai the ES920 is only $1,800 and all 3 of these brands have been making high end digital pianos for a long time now. Casio on the other hand, is just breaking into the high end market with this expensive new offering. I agree that the sound, improved action, and design of this piano is breathtaking and to die for, but at the same time I don't think that expecting the Privia S7000 to be closer to a more reasonable price point like the established competition from Roland, Yamaha, Kawai, etc., means you want the piano for peanuts. Peanuts would be expecting to pay $1200 or less for this which I agree would be crazy. I do think Casio are being unreasonable for charging an extra $200 just to get the piano in the Harmonious Mustard color as opposed to getting it in either black or white. Luckily for me, I find the mustard color off-putting and much prefer it in white or black.

Price point is high! Also wanted to rest a 61 key Nord stage compact on top but can’t cause of that rotary knob in the way. Studio logic do the same with knob right in the way. Let’s face it Casio piano sounds still aren’t there with piano sound so using this as a lower tier midi 88 controller is the good choice as a slave for the Nord. However looks like Roland a88 pro is the choice or doepfer lmk4 for best action and space to rest on top other keyboards.

Why can't they just add a pitch bend and a few MIDI buttons to a low-end digital piano.

I'm assuming the lights "throbbing" is due to the camera speed and not actually happening in the room?

I love your demos sir!! You make anything sound good!!! I just have my own preferences. I own a nord stage 2 and kawai mp 7se, both have amazing sampling technology and the finest action to me better than anything I’ve played. Can the s7000’ lead you through a worship service just fine? I like my nord and kawai because you have the mixers on them. I just don’t see that on the casio

RTFM, jokes jokes, there are plenty of tutorials online.
Music theory helps, understanding chords helps to but it's about muscle memory and knowing what notes are where.
      Practice, practice and practice.

For your initial warm up start with major scales and major and minor chords. Learn the scales and chords in both hands. Start in the key of C but the goal is to be fluent in every key.
Next try to learn a song taught at the beginner level. Pay attention to the four most common chords in songs. In the key of C that's C F G A (also referred to as the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th degree of the major scale).

Camera shutter speed is out of sync with the refresh rate of the keyboard LED lights, that's why they are flickering, you need to choose a better shutter speed next time, it takes no more than a 5 second test.

Is there an easy way to adjust the layer volume, on the fly while performing?
Can it be assigned to the wheels? Or is it stuck in a menu?

I got the opportunity to try out the s6000 and s7000 in a shop, and the speakers on there seemed absolutely terrible compared to other keyboards, maybe the placement settings were wrong or something? I think ill be getting the yamaha ck88 instead.
