Really like this piece William. I won't be trying anything with wings for a long time until I have loads more experience. I quite fancy keeping my fingers intact & not breaking my arm or wrist. Great job mate 👍🏴

What beautiful colours! Great finish and design to show them off. I have a similar crotch piece of ash to cut up and turn, I don't think I'll brave the wings, although if it has those colours.....
If you look at the finished piece the longest side of the piece the bark was a little green, but the tree was dead hadn't produced any leaf in the past two years. 😊
I put a scrap piece of wood in the chuck with a bit of router matt to make a friction drive, place the piece between it and pointy live center and turn most of the tennon away then power sand the little nub away, hope that answers your question, Kind regards From Will 😊

Thanks. I was curious as the initial shaving were peeling off smoothly, that had me thinking it might have been green wood. All ths best.
