I just kept irrationally thinking how delicious the candy colored figures looked.

There didn't seem to be much going on with the volcano...

I really liked this one but agree that 3+ is way to go

6/10 is being nice on this one.
But a great review - I agree in many of your points.
Thematically, I had a TON of interest in this game, and I was really attracted to the minimalistic and slightly abstract nature of the game. But....it seems too “this and that”. I love simple games that have complex strategy, and this misses the mark - by just a smidgeon.
The cover looks AWESOME. It’s what first got me to check out the video.
    The board - WOW !
But seeing the game play and mechanics, I was a little confused - routes, fish and shells. Hmmm. The mech on the volcano exploding at any moment was cool. But everything else seemed - contrived.
Like they were trying to make a good game idea better than it really needed to be.

The routes, resources and capture points made me think of Concordia. This seems a bit lighter and lacks the interesting card play. Board is much prettier though.
