Third generation Floridian here and I was born and raised in the salt water. My father used to be a scuba instructor, sailor, fisherman and surfer and most of my family have boats. Ten years ago I finally moved from the inland to one of Florida's amazing beaches and every day when I step outside the salt air fills my lungs and the gulf of Mexico is right across the street. I have never been more at peace. I joke with people saying, "The only way I'll ever leave the beach is if I move to another beach!"
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." ~Jacques Cousteau
Im 24 trying to find my way in life, and this i don't know why it gives me a calmness and feeling of "its gonna be alright." I wish everyone nothing but the best in this mysterious life.
I'm right there with you man
We're all gonna make it bro
@@dietcoke759 I sure hope so man, lost a couple buddies already at such young ages. I just hope everyone finds peace in this life, and makes the most of this mysterious time we randomly was given in a infinite chance. I deeply Love everyone who reads this and hope they are doing well and achieve the goals they have.
@@dietcoke759 I hope so bro what ever is in the after life I hope its peaceful, a god reigned realm or just endless exploration as a form of seamless energy. I just hope everyone who lived and who will live, love endlessly and cherish every moment of this glimpse of reality and are at peace. I wish everyone great luck and truly hope you find happiness.
Keep watching this guy my friend 😊
A poem for Malcolm:
Into his study we venture, with a spark of curiosity in mind,
He greets us with a cheerful smile, his disposition ever so kind,
Whiskey neat, cozy chair, an aroma of tobacco tickling our nose,
Listening intimately on the edge of our seat, to the talk that Malcolm will compose
Will he relate to a poem, music, art, or a religious writing of his,
The discussion ever entrancing, if we're lucky we'll get Tolkein or Lewis
We so relish our afternoon tea and chats, until the time to depart hath come,
And so concludes another warm and fruitful visit, with our dear friend Malcolm.
thanks for this little poem, you are most kind!
"A quiet sleep and a sweet dream after the long trick is over."
Just lovely, thank you Malcolm.
God bless you.
When I was young, I lived near the sea, then I went to sea in the Navy, but now at 60, I turn to my garden. Wonderful poem.
Done roaming 😊
😢😢😂
Oh, praise to the Lord who made this earth and filled it with creative folk who love Him!
' I must go down to the sea again ,
To the beautiful sea and sky .
I left my vest and pants there ,
I wonder if they're dry.'
"I went down to the Sea again,
A-search for my vest and pants;
Gulls were nesting in my vest,
And my pants were full of ants. " 🐸🌌
y'all are too funny 😂
Just quoting Spike Milligan. No disrespect intended.
‘I must go down to the sea again,
Have to do so “in the buff.”
I hope no copper sees me,
Lest I end up in cuffs.’
This reminds me of the words of Legolas in The Return of the King:
"To the Sea, to the Sea! The white gulls are crying, the wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying. West, west away, the round sun is falling. Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling, the voices of my people that have gone before me? I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me; for our days are ending and our years falling.”
Yes, I wonder if Tolkien was deliberately echoing Masefield
In my imagination 'Sea Fever' is one of a triumvirate that also comprises Tennyson's 'Crossing the Bar' and Tolkien's many hymns to the inveterate, self-estranging "wild call" of the sea.
Live on youtube long enough and you get little nuggets of knowledge from a man that has both a big library as well as miscellaneous pipes. My kind of source to pull from
I have no idea how i came across this I have never smoked I hardly ever read books and don't do poetry But i am so glad i did I love just sitting down and listening to you and forget about the daily problems for a short time, Thank you
Hah! Now I've got Bryn Terfel singing Sea Fever in my inner ear now......what a wonderful video
I saw the title of the video and immediately started humming.
I love to see Malcolm Guite's 'subscriber' numbers climbing.
He deserves a huge audience.
Nothing stirs the soul quite like the deep and restless sea.
Thanks for sharing this; your library chats are so comforting to so many.
"I ALWAYS FLOAT UPON THE SURFACE OF YOUR MYSTERY". How beautiful and profound!!!!!!!!
This channel is a godsend.
This reminds me of a great privilege I had to hear a recital from the great Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel sing this poem at La Scalla in Milan. The art song is by John Ireland.
Thank you, Malcolm. Even as an American, there is something stirring to me about an Englishman extolling his love of the sea. The recitation and the reading were splendid. Thank you for the moment of joy. The smile on your face is wonderful to behold.
Thank you for inviting us in Malcom.
oh man, this man got me into pipes a week ago i bought my self a cheap starter kit. now this week im going to buy my self 2 more little more expensive pipes. its so good. thanks Malcolm!
Same! I'm sticking to my starter inexpensive starter pipe for the moment.
Enjoy!
My wife just got this book in the mail about a week ago and we have been using it every day for all sorts of moments througout our days. It is truly a treasure to behold and pair with further scripture reading during the day. It has helped us immensely as we have been grieving from the loss of our infant daughter this past month. It reminds us every day how good Christ is and that nothing changes His character. God bless.
“Your creation for my recreation “ What a gift ❤❤ thank you God❤❤
I don't know how I came across this channel but I'm very greatful for it. So pure and genuine, it's refreshing.
"And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing, fellow raver."
Beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing, Malcolm!
Every Words is WORTH 💥
I enjoyed the "visit" Malcolm. 😊
I am so fortunate to live most of my near 61 years, just a stones throw (literally) from the Salish Sea of the Pacific NW (USA).
I am equally blessed to be surrounded to the east by the mountains of the North Cascades, but my 1st love is the sea, and no matter where I reside, I must be near the sea.
God bless you good sir!
Rev Guite - i thrill every time your videos pop up in my feed. i feel about your videos as you feel about "smoke rings from your pipe"... a way to get out from under the day, relax a moment, and be myself.
By far my favorite video on the TH-cams. I keep coming back to this one over and over again.
I must go down to the seas again…
In days of yore when life was young,
And love was but a song,
We met beneath the silver moon,
Our hearts entwined as one.
With eyes aglow and cheeks flushed red,
We danced through fields of green,
Our laughter echoed 'cross the land,
As we sang our dreams serene.
But time doth march with steady tread,
And youth doth fade away,
The seasons changed as love remained,
A flame that burned each day.
We grew old yet still held tight,
Our hands entwined 'til the end,
As life's last chapter gently closed,
In death we did extend.
Now in a field of emerald hue,
Where once our love did bloom,
A stone marks where our hearts did beat,
And memories do consume
This is simply the best respite for my soul.
Got myself a sail boat (pipedream) and a sailors pipe! The time and tide waits for no man!!
What a chipper respect for life’s existence and heavenly hope.
I had the pleasure of cruising the Norfolk Broads not long ago, just last year. A friend I had made on the Tall ship Tenacious had a boat on the broads and enthusiastically showed a few of us his boat and let us cruise for the day
Delightful, sparkling intelligence. Clearly a Polymath. Thank you Malcolm. I’ve just lost one. Here’s hoping that I’ve found another.
Malcolm , the so much for sharing your divine gift of wordings … I listened to your moments from St Kevin and the Blackbird by Seamus Heaney . Greatness in our God ! ‘ Call him to all we cannot call to mind .’ thx , kev
The sailing prayer that you shared is incredibly beautiful. It is an elegant treatment of the Bible’s beautiful depiction of the Holy Spirit, found just before Pentecost Sunday. :) I have pondered joining the local sailing club in my town, but maybe you have convinced me to finally do so.
Oh, I want a Peterson Holmes Lestrade. The Holmes series is amazing. I love the Watson and the Professor. Marvelous pipes both.
I miss living near the sea
This channel is a blessing.
Absolutely
Glad I found this channel!! Just what I needed today!! Going to go on a binge watch now 😂… thank you sir!!
Malcolm you are an absolute joy. I wish I had your memory for poetry and prose; it must give you much comfort and solace to be able to recite wonderful passages to yourself at need.
Yeah that last poem was beautiful
Always puts a smile on my face. 😀
Thank you.
I am not religious at all, but I love watching these before bed. Also when I'm smoking a pipe or having a class of whiskey, so I suppose we have something in common there 😅.
Beautiful.
‘Further up and further in!’
Beautiful I love your episode about wind in the willows. When ratty said there is nothing absolutely nothing better than messing around in boats. Superb thank you.
It's a fools spring according to our local farmers in Northumberland.
a fellow c.s lewis lover , P,Linkens got me interested in this channel and i cannot get enough
Such a lovely poem. Thank you for remembering of it. My uncle built a 16’ sailboat, which I fortunate enough to sail when I was teenager. Many years later when I was a father I bought a small lapstrake dinghy. My boys both learned to row in Merry Rows! Later I built a her sailing rig, a sewed her sail from a discarded Genoa found in a skip.
What a nice man!
Spring is my favourite time of the year. Birth, revival and longer days of sun. God bless Rev Guite
What a beautiful poem and prayer, I look forward to the day you can take all of us aboard your little boat and show us the beauty of God’s creation around you.
Ah a beautiful poem to start my weekend. Thank you so very much.
“harbored with my Saviour”
I recall having to memorize that poem in 6th grade, more decades ago than I care to admit. Being from the hills and deep woods, I was never able to understand my teacher's obsession with all things nautical. I can still recall most of the lines, though..
Thank you, I love your nautical poetry!
Thank you Dr. Guite
Wow that was a lovely poem about the Lord and meeting him hallelujah 🙏 🙌 👏.
I shall attempt now out of inspiration to create a poem of my own about the most high Ιησούς.
My heart is weak and wounded, Lord, where is your peace? The world is full of sorrow, and sin brought it to its knees. My temple is my home 🏡 I guard it with my life. Lord, please send down your spirit to stay with me one night. The world 🌎 is full of evil-there is no place to turn. If creation is without you, im certain it will burn.
Ohh Lord, where is your peace? Please send your spirit down to me, you are the house of all creation only you can ever be.
Enter yourself again my Lord and come to us once more, to take the weeds up from the wheat and burn them forevermore.
Ohh acient king of kings your footstool makes a sound, its screws are loose its wobbly, only your hands can fix it now.
So come ohh King of Kings, lift up your feet from rest, the stool your feet was resting on has had its fair use spent.
Repair the damage father, remove the wobble out, replace the screws that came all loose and make it stable to the ground.
You are the King of Kings, the one who sets slaves free, with every ounce of your power come home and deliver me.
One of my favorite poems and a new one (to me) as well! This just after watching the pipe video gives me fond memories of my Dad who used to smoke a pipe when I was little. Happy to have discovered your channel. :)
Absolutely beautiful work! Thank you Mr Guite!
All I do is smile when I listen to you read such wonderful poetry and stories. I think every family needs a Malcolm Guite to read to them every night (young and old). 😁
Lovely poem! Evocative of the sea and the Lord of creation.
I first met the sea when she was coming through Dublin. She was North but said she was Atlantic.
Much love from France, you, my dear sir, have one of the best channel on the Internet ! Thank you very much for being who you are !
Good day to you Sir.
Wonderful 😊❤
Good Evening 😊 Beautiful Pipe , tobacco and waist coat😍 Nice weather you having 👍🏼 Autumn will be soon arriving in the South 😉 Great Poem to start the weekend 👏🏼 Have a great day 🤗 Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
This poem is quoted in Star Trek by Captain Kirk in one of the original episodes "The Ultimate Computer" and the movie "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier".
From kindling a fire, 🔥 to bird 🕊️ watching. Look what I found Steven Cruz, a picture 🖼️ there's me with this very pipe, there's a win meal. To delight in your creation for my recreation. Always float 🛟 on your mercy. So as I trim my sails. When that homecoming comes, harboured with my Savior, in a haven of love.
Thanks your videos uploads amazing 😂🎉
I hope you’re happy . I went to the smoke shop and bought myself a nice pipe and some tobacco. Had a nice relaxing time listening to audio books and puffing on my pipe . Now I’m hooked 😂
I love this channel so much!
Loved it!❤
Hello Malcolm, I lived across from the sea for many years, she is the most violent, rambunctious, calm and peaceful place a heart could ever be.
wonderful
Fantastic just Fantastic
Once again thank you for your words.... Peter
Thank you for your great content! The slow, soothing ambience and appreciation for the small and quiet aspects of life, is much needed in this world.
I would love to hear readings of some G.K.Chesterton, namely “The Rolling English Road” and “Gold Leaves”, if you can spare the time to do so.
On my daily walks my senses are alive with the sound of birdsong, Lapwings, Meadow Pipits, Larks ascending, they are my poetry in motion and the sounds of spring are what bring light to my troubled mind. If I lived by the sea, I would not hear the light.
How lovely
Inspiring as always.
A lovely way to start the day
Love these!
Well done!
I think that is one My Father would have loved, he spent a lot of his life in The Merchant Navy and I so used to love him telling me about his life at sea when I was a young Boy. Thank you for that Malcolm.
What a lovely channel and comforting soul . I knew a man who took out the front window of his house and carried it to the beach sat down and looked through it he had always wanted to look through his front window and see the sea.
Love your videos !! Always thinking of Arnold Bax music in the background. Cheers
Such a beautiful prayer.
I crewed a little boat that sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Captain was a member at my Anglican Church. Thank you for this gem, Malcolm. I look forward to your videos so much!
What a start to the day !!!! Thank you Malcolm
Chills with these prayers
As we prepare to take the “caravan” camping, I think I will bring the canoe and a Peterson. Perhaps I will treat the waves with the wonders of PS24.
Amazing. I need to acquire a copy of that book. Thank you, Malcolm.
A treasure - and the poems were lovely too.
A wonderful poem spoken by a wonderful gentleman.
What an incredible illustration to accompany your poem!
Love this!!! Thank you for the recommendation of “Every Moment Holy 3” On page 186 there is a guide on “A single person going to church”. Tears streamed down my face and comforted me that someone else knows how this feels. Thank you Malcolm!!!
I have recently moved to Holland MI my childhood summer place and have been trying to find a good job and safe place to live. Anyway I joined Pillar church and saw you speak back in October. So grateful to follow you and I’ve learned so much. Was a charter flight attendant and love all things England so I hope to get back over there and see you again!
Thank you Malcolm, God Bless you and please continue to guide, instruct and entertain us all! 🙏💗🌊
Thank you, Malcolm.
