There's definitely swordsmanship-proof stuff here, like maybe half of it. The cut & parry stuff is mostly valid and some elements of movement & repositioning are viable to my eye. Of course you'd need to take it seriously outside the HDGD practices with someone dedicated to really claim this. Although the same would apply to pretty much any martial art.
Sometimes martial arts originate from somewhere and it may be perfected elsewhere. It’s honestly amazing to learn the origins and how situations and terrain could create something so new.
haha, yeah, considering korea had swords and therefore sword based martial arts before the japanese i'd say that's a strong disagree. you may not like it, but the fact that china was the one to invent swords in eastern asia leads to the assumption that it first spread to korea, who then (probably through one of the many quarrels they had with the japanese) spread it to japan. gotta give credit where credit is due, japan is just really good at publicity

There are similaritiea in korean and japanese sword style but they have their own unique features
