*DO NOT* do the genocide route unless you want your copy permanently tainted. Unlike most games, Undertale remembers if you've completed killing everyone and will mock you for trying to make up for it later by resetting.
Flowey also mocks you for killing and then sparing Toriel. Part of why I liked pewdiepie’s playthrough. He was one of the only ppl to see that dialogue.
Flowey's odd introduction isn't a byproduct of the genocide route, as he's the first monster you will see in a playthrough. Flowey can remember previous timelines, so if you restart the game (without reaching the true pacifist or genocide ending) he'll remember what you've done. This is most notable when doing neutral endings, as well as quitting out after killing Toriel in order to go back and spare her.
The internet turned him into a normal dude, we don't know what or who he really is although he has a big role in Deltarune with characters such as jevil and spamton. Jevil is kind of insane with his boss fight as hard as sans, he says he's the only one who's free but his freedom is very lonely. Spamton on the other hand is terrifying, on the surface he's an unhinged and funny man but behind that smile is something dark and sinister. Spamton is a lot more insane and has a much deeper lore than Jevil.

I think Chara is more of the "consequences of your actions" than the villain of the Undertale. (As the player is Canon to the Undertale lore, making us the "True Villain" in. The geno route)
It's hilarious how genocide route is basically just a normal RPG but in Undertale it's regarded as psychological horror just because the game outwardly tells you you're evil.
A very good undertale horror experience is Undertαle ( with the alpha a). Its a sprite comic that revolves around an imposter pretending to be some of the game characters, like Toriel. It has a few different endings that makes it unique. Also, Horrortale was originally a comic by SourAppleStudios, who has even made their own ( albiet short) game of horrortale. The main plot is that soon after Frisk leaves the underground, the CORE shuts down, causing all of the monsters to begin to starve. Its interesting honesty
there are also a few unique moments during these neutral sub endings. namely, if you killed papyrus during a neutral run (non genocide run) then undyne has a very unique death scene. It’s regarded as one of the saddest death scenes in the game, yet very few people will see it.
My friend went into Undertale spoiler-free (Unlike me, who only had Deltarune as spoiler-free), and got Exiled queen W/O Undyne or Mettaton. I told her... well, Alphys would definitely commit die.

NOTE: Ive been getting alot of people commenting about how Genocide is not the fault of Chara but me the player, I am aware of this, as I was the one who chose to go down that route for the video. chara was just a character that needed to be mentioned in order to truly cover the horror aspects of undertale, with that being said Ive gotten 50+ comments ridiculing me about this one issue alone so I am addressing it here.

Two things I love about the genocide route that people get wrong is that it doesn't matter if you do it or not. You considered it at one point And that sans isn't trying to kill you, he knows he can't, his goal is to actively fuck with the player to get them to reset or stop playing. He isn't a badass like Undyne or Asgore, he's just trying to get you into giving up
I like this analysis, but i noticed a issue i have with a lot of these discussions. That being: referring to "the player" as a different entity to yourself. It kinda removes some of the accountability this route comes with. Although, maybe you addressed this, I haven't watched the whole video yet
Tbh Flowey feels like a creepypasta when you think about it. I mean, he knows about Saving and Save files, something that a video game character should not know about, he shares a completely different worldview that’s the complete opposite of the actual game (kill or be killed compared to the games be nice and help others), he can be seen watching the player at times, many of his faces are just straight up terrifying, and the Photoshop Flowey fight is straight out of a classic artstyle switch. He even comments that if you kill Toriel and reset after then spare her, he knows that you must have felt guilty so you went back and spared her.
I liked the video, I would like to say first of all, the flowey thing is just if you’re restarting a file you didn’t finish and so you’d already met flowey. You wouldn’t have been able to start genocide yet as you haven’t encountered enemies. Otherwise, you did a good job explaining stuff.
Man, I love seeing people's first reactions to this route especially after completing the Pacifist route. The story just shifts so much and it's so interesting to follow, even if heartbreaking. I remember the first time experiencing the route being close to tears during Papyrus's death, n being highly disturbed by how much Undyne tried to fight back uselessly (her Neutral death is so much more gruesome too, people don't talk enough about it!) and then yeah. Sans made me cry first time around. Honestly having this creepy dark route in the game made me appreciate the good ending so much more :')
3:05 The sad part comes from a fan game, called Storyshift Chara Facing Demons, if you tried to immediately spare her, there’s a bunch of text at the end that really brings you to tears
Wanted to point out that the stuff regarding Flowey recognizing you as Chara at the very start of the game at 2:41, this is actually just a lesser known line of dialogue if you start a playthrough of undertale and restart before you fight Toriel (not 100% sure if it happens specifically before you fight Toriel but the dialogue changes based off of the story progression from whenever you reset your savefile)
Actually, the dialouge at the beginning with Flowey that the video stated was him recognizing you as Chara has nothing to even do with Chara. In Undertale, if you reset before you get an ending, the game doesn't treat it as resetting a file, but more resetting the timeline, hence determination being called the power to change fate in Undertale, and Flowey knows about the timeline because he has determination, so he asks why the player had him reintroduce himself because he remembers the other playthrough you did.
On Undyne the Undying, I felt the same way. It took me a whole week to beat him. NOW I’M STILL STUCK ON SANS AND I’VE BEEN FIGHTING HIM FOR A MONTH NOW!!!!!!!!!
Sans basically cheats. He bends the rules of the game, because at that point he’d do anything to stop the human. He gets the first attack, he dodges attacks, his attacks ignore invincibility frames and apply KR, he even attacks you in the menu. As a last resort, he doesn’t do anything on his turn, so that the player never gets their turn.
Fun fact: Chara Isn’t the bad guy. Here’s proof. If you repeat the genocide a couple times chara will sound very disgusted with you Also I tried playing genocide route, i just don’t got the guts too
The Papyrus fight literally broke my heart when I first did genocide, like it genuinely H U R T, I actually deleted my save and did Pacifist I felt that awful.
honestly i feel like the assumption that the genocide route is directly chara's fault is a bit lame it sorta gives a scape goat to the idea of the genocide route, which seems to exist entirely to make the players who went through it think about the attrocities that were committed tbh i dont even think chara being completely in control of frisk's actions was even the intended message, rather she's reffering to her control over the game itself (ie. erase button and fucking up future passivist runs

To be fair the monster are kind of at fault here spoilers ahead. They killed children so they can take their souls to amass enough power to break a barrier. This spawned a vengeful soul that lead to their destruction. The monsters were placed in a barrier to begin with because they waged war with the humans to begin with, if i recall to amass power by stealing souls go figure. While going through the game from beginning to end pacifist or genocide you are attacked through the entire thing. And this isn't even counting the horrible experiments they were doing to their own. Even the queen of the realm abandoned them because of how horrible they were being, going as far as to say you are just like them when you backstab her in a brutal way. Not saying genocide is the answer just saying the monsters are very much at fault here.

The Genocide Route being "the wrong way to play" is such a dumb mindset. I understand why people don't want to play it, but it's not "the wrong way to play". It's just another route to take, and imo it's an important experience that fans should have. It's supposed to make you feel awful. It's supposed to be harder than the other routes. It's supposed to make you question your own morality. That's the point.

2:32 A bit of an error here. They recognize you as an old friend after you did Genocide in the ruins, the reason is who Flowey used to be, and they think Chara feels the same way since both of them died!
I think the most screwed up part of undertale is the sadistic choices you can make such as killing siren at the height of her singing or killing toriel when she spares you. The game looks at you like the monster you are and really makes you feel like a horrible person for what you did. The most screwed up thing you can do is kill the two royal guards after they just fall in love for each other. It's so brutal.
I don't want to be picky. However, Flowey (at the beginning) will only use that dialog if you meet him and then reset. Flowey can recognize resets and, unless its a true reset. Flowey will give different dialog.
There are like 70 endings to the game: Genocide, True pacifist, a ton of neutrals like flawed pacifist, the you cheated ending and not a different ending more of a sub-ending of True Pacifist which I call the True Hypocrite route (you do a pacifist but because after you get the phone call from Undyne you're locked on true pacifist you can start killing)
I get what youre saying, throughout most of the game i felt a certain sense of melancholy and slight unease, esp the snow area, which i hardly ever see mentioned by others
i do not want to do a genocide route, i'd feel so incredibly guilty killing these characters after recently finishing a pacifist route, but i really want to see the alternative dialogue.
2:27 that just happened whenever you erase the save and restart. Although most people would see it when trying genocide mode, so I see the mistake. I figured that out when I erased my save because I wanted to start from the beginning (I started a while ago and wanted to finish, but I haven’t played in a while so I was inexperienced)
Just oen thing i wanted to add, is that the player, as in, you, the person playing the game, is meant to also be a character influencing the world and actively taking part Chara embodies the stats and is a mirror of You, that's why they have such vague backstory and can be named anything, you are meant to see yourself in them, and in Genocide, Chara is but a mirror of yourself, You are the one contorlling Frisk around, pupettering them, and using them for yoyr bidding, whatever that might be, Chara is merely the facilitator between the game and you, but this is entirely part of the game's story, so much so that in both Pacifist and Genocide endings, Flowey and Chara ddress YOU very directly as a person You are a in-universe character, and i think this wasn't as understood before we had Deltarune which delves much more on the Player-Played Character relationship that admittedly Ubdertale didn't go too deep into
Me and my brother played Undertale for the first time. We killed many characters in the game, not everybody tho. And when we met Sans, thinking we were going to fight him, he instead disappears, and never showed up again.
After Deltarune came out, the horror aspect was kinda turned up after Chapter 2, snowgrave is said to feel like an actual creepypasta, and with Kris ripping out “their” soul and with characters saying that while with “their” soul, they don’t feel like themselves really hammers in the idea that YOU are the one causing this, not Frisk, not Chara, but YOU, the player cause this genocide
the fandom apparently hating the genocide route of undertale is crazy considering the fact it's a literal route you can pick on the game. Personally genocide route is my favorite out of all of them because it gives you the most interesting lore out of the other 2.
Imo I think.. Gameplay Wise: Neutral. Best bosses. Alot to do. Genocide. Only 2 bosses that is absolutely amazing. Pacifist has some slammers like Mettaton, Asgore etc.. Idk why people flak on the genocide route when it's just the absolute inverse of the pacifist (doing [INSERT THING HERE] to every single encounter in a room)
when you reset your save file WITHOUT a True Reset, certain characters remember that and have different dialogue. E.g. Toriel having different dialogue depending on what preference you selected in the first run, and which one you selected in the next run (same or opposite).
alright so the thing about you doing the genocide route is that if you try to get true pacifist after it chara does a little trolling and murders everybody anyways
If the only monster you kill in your entire run is papyrus when sans is judging you, he will ask you that if you have a special power shouldn't you use it for good. If you answer yes then he will say "T h e n w h y d i d y o u k i l l m y b r o t h e r" and when he says it his eyes will go black and no music or or the noise of him speaking will play.
1:09 For one, it can’t be self defense because Papyrus and Monster Kid don’t even attack you, and Undyne who’s a seasoned warrior almost gets instantly killed by you after you attempted to murder Monster Kid! At that point, Undyne was right to fight you! Also Chara sadly gets blamed for all of that, because they’re the only character to directly confront the *PLAYER* and not Frisk about their actions!
Chara is not the one to blame. The player is the one at fault. Chara is even disgusted by your "twisted sense of humour" if you do the genocide route twice in a row.
Genocide is a very underrated route, it really makes you feel awful, but the curiosity of what lies at the end, continues to push you forward It doesn't even reward you, Toriel and Papyrus go down with no fight, Undyne makes you angry, but sadly dies, Mettaton hypes up a huge boss fight, but is easily defeated in one hit by your pure strength, just for Sans to make you fall into despair, the character who has been laid back in the Pacifist Route, and shows up multiple times to check up on you, and hang out Even using all his power, dodging attacks, causing damage per-frame, and keeping his turn going on forever as a last ditch effort to stop you, fails, as he bleeds out, and imagines his brother before turning to dust And if that wasn't enough, your actions had revived the First human as a thing of pure destruction, Chara was always messed up, but they were never evil, you twisted their mind, and its too late to go back, you are either with them, or against them, but either way, the outcome is the same Maybe the real monster is truly Human kind also quick correction, 2:33 is not from Genocide, you cant even start Genocide until after this room This dialog is for when you do a soft reset after having already met Flowey
I couldn't bring myself to do genocide because there was nothing to be gained, and everything to lose. It wasn't worth doing for me, at the cost of gaslighting a child into believing killing was the only way, that's too cruel for me. Chara has already suffered enough. Oh yeah, and killing everyone when they could instead be spared, cant forget about that either.

I'm sorry, but Flowey getting chopped into a salad will always be the most satisfying thing in the game to me. Also, to this day, the community at large still has very little idea of who/what Chara actually *is.* Sure, they're the first human, yadda yadda yadda, but we really don't know their whole motivation or reason for the genocide route. Are they doing it? Are they going along with the player? Are they the consequences of your actions? Why do they call themselves a demon? They're also the narrator too, and they might be in Deltarune Chapter 1's opening.
Feel like you left out the most creepy part of the genocide run in Undertale. It's permanent consequences... (Spoilers) So, if you replay the game doing the true pacifist run, after finishing a genocide run, everything is exactly the same except for the very last scene (which varies depending if you stay with Toriel or not) which implies that Chara takes control of Frisk's body, and then maybe proceeds to kill everyone. So doing a genocide run permanently taints the good ending of the game because of the consequences of your actions.* *Unless you edit the save file... Or your like me and just use task manager when Chara offers you the choice to destroy the world, showing this demon child that their not the one in control. "Ha! Your not going to take my happy ending away from me just because I wanted to fight sans!"
Thought this was gonna be a video essay about in-game horrors, but then it kinda went all over the places. Oh well. Really hate the audio mixing in this though - the narration is very quiet, and the game sound and jumpscares are much louder. Had to keep my finger on the audio level button.
Hey i haven't watched the whole video yet, so i probably shouldn't be commenting yet, but question: How the heck did you think Undertale was a horror game? Anything the Internet might've told you about Undertale before playing it probably wouldn't have clued you in to it's scarier aspects(i.e people making memes about sans), or at the absolute most spoilery, you would've known that its scary moments are few & far in between, and thus hit harder because they catch you off guard. I'm not trying to be nitpicky, it just struck me as really odd.
To be honest idk, I never really looked to much into it before recently, which is what inspired me to make this video in the first place is going into what little creepy aspects the game does have (although they are rare)
the feeling of dread you get when sans confronts you for the first time in the judgement hall it genuinely makes you ache when you realize that hes not going to spare you, hes gonna do what you did to his whole kind.
You forgot one thing: The true lab (from undertale, not the .exe fangame), two things that make it CREEPY is the determination on monsters and the fact that it is abandoned (mostly) with someone there, letting you know that _you are not alone_ lil explanation of determination on monsters: determination is normal for humans, but not for monsters, making them melt and get REALLY disturbing and gross, one example of melted character is undyne itself, that melts when she dies because of her determination. determinated = unable to die, but can make you *suffer* if you're a monster.
I was just like you, since most of my undertale knowledge before playing it were some scary moments in the true lab, which I thought to be the ENTIRE GAME, I got way too scared to even try searching further, lol

honestly i think you should have talked about saving and reloading and resetting more, cause it really shows how utterly hopeless the underground is in genocide as even if the play dies they will come back and come back and come back, bit by bit learning and overcoming the fights, and sans's end goal is to anger and bore you into resetting and in fact thats what the whole game does, undertale the game punishes the player for doing the genocide run, all the fun is striped away and you are left with just a grind, 2 very hard bosses and all for a bad ending that leaves your copy tainted.
Sans knew he cannot beat you, his objective wasn't to kill Frisk, it was to make you leave the game. He is comparing you/the human to a god of his world and we can theorize this is the reason of why Sans is so lazy because only him (and maybe Flowey) know that there is nothing he can do. If you spare Sans, he will instant kill you but he was actually trying to help you with this because he said that if you are his friend, you wouldn't come back, meaning that you need to reset. If you still come back, he will tell the most heartbreaking quote in my opinion : "Wow you look REALLY pissed, guess I did a good job. In the end, we never were friends, aren't we ? Do me a favor, please don't tell this to the others sans, ok ? They will be really sad if they know the truth about you." I don't remember the dialogue correctly but I think I got the idea.
14:37 the entity who did this... was *you* Your name is there. Chara is an influenced entity from your actions. The reflection of what you are to *them* . But... there's something worse... not even a soulless chara... thinks you are sane. Chara is pure influenced by your LV like frisk is. Frisk killed sans, asgore and flowey by themself because well... they follow your lead right? But something is different about Chara. They will seem like a monster but.. every genocide you complete, chara will reveal that they thought you were "doing this of curiosity at first" but second time? They think you are sick. They will keep saying stuff to you in the next ones that make it even worse the feeling of being a *monster* . The game is trynna say: Chara has more morals as a soulless entity than you.
Oh, and, by the way, Chara isn't the evil one, while doing the genocide route, YOU are the real monster, as you control Frisk, who do you think the Narrator is? Chara.

This is my opinion on the matter Chara. If you disagree, that's fine. Listen, Chara is just an enabler. Chara didn't 'control' you throughout the entire game (maybe a bit toward the end) but it was YOU, the player. YOU had chosen to go through each place and seek out all those monsters. The genocide ending is glorified. A majority of it is not fun, and it's meant to not be fun. It's meant to get you to stop going down this path. The encounters get less and less frequent each monster you kill, and all fun events/puzzles are disabled. But no, YOU continued. YOU chose to see it through to the end, and what did you get? Your future playthroughs of this game forever tainted (unless you go into the code or something). I understand using Chara as a scapegoat, but Chara didn't do anything but encourage you. Do not be mistaken.
i'm one of the ppl that cant do genocide, after doing both pacifist and neutral you've probably have got some love for the characters(unless you're heartless) and kill all those characters that protected you and stayed with you until the end becomes a hard choice...
Well technically I didn’t beat sans…. Due to time constraints and getting this video out in a timely manner, taking 10+ hrs to perfect a boss for a 2 minute clip is super impractical. So all of the clips used that aren’t mine are linked in the description
I first discovered Undertale thanks to a video by SomeOrdinaryGamers, back when he was mostly creepypasta-focused. Because of the fact it was on his channel, I assumed it was some weird, niche, indie horror game. The thumbnail being black and white really reminded me of Strawberry Cubes, which I had just watched him play immediately prior. Safe to say, I was totally expecting something fucked up to happen the whole time he was going through the Ruins. And then, when the 3 episodes of his playthrough ended (the rest was lost due to hard drive failure, I believe), I knew I had to seek out another playthrough. I wanna say the next one I watched was Vinesauce Joel's? It's hard to remember. Either way, it's funny how Undertale can give off that sort of "weird indie horror game" vibe when it's not that at all. Also, an inventory-ful of pies during the Sans fight? Nice inventory editing.

A very good undertale horror experience is Undertαle ( with the alpha a). Its a sprite comic that revolves around an imposter pretending to be some of the game characters, like Toriel. It has a few different endings that makes it unique. Also, Horrortale was originally a comic by SourAppleStudios, who has even made their own ( albiet short) game of horrortale.
The main plot is that soon after Frisk leaves the underground, the CORE shuts down, causing all of the monsters to begin to starve. Its interesting honesty

there are also a few unique moments during these neutral sub endings. namely, if you killed papyrus during a neutral run (non genocide run) then undyne has a very unique death scene. It’s regarded as one of the saddest death scenes in the game, yet very few people will see it.
My friend went into Undertale spoiler-free (Unlike me, who only had Deltarune as spoiler-free), and got Exiled queen W/O Undyne or Mettaton. I told her... well, Alphys would definitely commit die.

Two things I love about the genocide route that people get wrong is that it doesn't matter

I like this analysis, but i noticed a issue i have with a lot of these discussions. That being: referring to "the player" as a different entity to yourself. It kinda removes some of the accountability this route comes with. Although, maybe you addressed this, I haven't watched the whole video yet
Tbh Flowey feels like a creepypasta when you think about it. I mean, he knows about Saving and Save files, something that a video game character should not know about, he shares a completely different worldview that’s the complete opposite of the actual game (kill or be killed compared to the games be nice and help others), he can be seen watching the player at times, many of his faces are just straight up terrifying, and the Photoshop Flowey fight is straight out of a classic artstyle switch. He even comments that if you kill Toriel and reset after then spare her, he knows that you must have felt guilty so you went back and spared her.

I liked the video, I would like to say first of all, the flowey thing is just if you’re restarting a file you didn’t finish and so you’d already met flowey. You wouldn’t have been able to start genocide yet as you haven’t encountered enemies. Otherwise, you did a good job explaining stuff.
Man, I love seeing people's first reactions to this route especially after completing the Pacifist route. The story just shifts so much and it's so interesting to follow, even if heartbreaking. I remember the first time experiencing the route being close to tears during Papyrus's death, n being highly disturbed by how much Undyne tried to fight back uselessly (her Neutral death is so much more gruesome too, people don't talk enough about it!) and then yeah. Sans made me cry first time around. Honestly having this creepy dark route in the game made me appreciate the good ending so much more :')

The sad part comes from a fan game, called Storyshift Chara Facing Demons, if you tried to immediately spare her, there’s a bunch of text at the end that really brings you to tears
Wanted to point out that the stuff regarding Flowey recognizing you as Chara at the very start of the game at 2:41, this is actually just a lesser known line of dialogue if you start a playthrough of undertale and restart before you fight Toriel (not 100% sure if it happens specifically before you fight Toriel but the dialogue changes based off of the story progression from whenever you reset your savefile)
Actually, the dialouge at the beginning with Flowey that the video stated was him recognizing you as Chara has nothing to even do with Chara.
In Undertale, if you reset before you get an ending, the game doesn't treat it as resetting a file, but more resetting the timeline, hence determination being called the power to change fate in Undertale, and Flowey knows about the timeline because he has determination, so he asks why the player had him reintroduce himself because he remembers the other playthrough you did.

12:59 funniest part is, sans isn't even strong, he has one attack and one defense, people only find him hard because of KR and no inv frames.
Sans basically cheats. He bends the rules of the game, because at that point he’d do anything to stop the human. He gets the first attack, he dodges attacks, his attacks ignore invincibility frames and apply KR, he even attacks you in the menu. As a last resort, he doesn’t do anything on his turn, so that the player never gets their turn.
Fun fact: Chara Isn’t the bad guy.

To be fair the monster are kind of at fault here spoilers ahead.
They killed children so they can take their souls to amass enough power to break a barrier. This spawned a vengeful soul that lead to their destruction. The monsters were placed in a barrier to begin with because they waged war with the humans to begin with, if i recall to amass power by stealing souls go figure. While going through the game from beginning to end pacifist or genocide you are attacked through the entire thing. And this isn't even counting the horrible experiments they were doing to their own. Even the queen of the realm abandoned them because of how horrible they were being, going as far as to say you are just like them when you backstab her in a brutal way.
Not saying genocide is the answer just saying the monsters are very much at fault here.

A bit of an error here.
They recognize you as an old friend after you did Genocide in the ruins, the reason is who Flowey used to be, and they think Chara feels the same way since both of them died!
I think the most screwed up part of undertale is the sadistic choices you can make such as killing siren at the height of her singing or killing toriel when she spares you. The game looks at you like the monster you are and really makes you feel like a horrible person for what you did. The most screwed up thing you can do is kill the two royal guards after they just fall in love for each other. It's so brutal.
I don't want to be picky. However, Flowey (at the beginning) will only use that dialog if you meet him and then reset. Flowey can recognize resets and, unless its a true reset. Flowey will give different dialog.
There are like 70 endings to the game: Genocide, True pacifist, a ton of neutrals like flawed pacifist, the you cheated ending and not a different ending more of a sub-ending of True Pacifist which I call the True Hypocrite route (you do a pacifist but because after you get the phone call from Undyne you're locked on true pacifist you can start killing)

Just oen thing i wanted to add, is that the player, as in, you, the person playing the game, is meant to also be a character influencing the world and actively taking part
Chara embodies the stats and is a mirror of You, that's why they have such vague backstory and can be named anything, you are meant to see yourself in them, and in Genocide, Chara is but a mirror of yourself, You are the one contorlling Frisk around, pupettering them, and using them for yoyr bidding, whatever that might be, Chara is merely the facilitator between the game and you, but this is entirely part of the game's story, so much so that in both Pacifist and Genocide endings, Flowey and Chara ddress YOU very directly as a person
You are a in-universe character, and i think this wasn't as understood before we had Deltarune which delves much more on the Player-Played Character relationship that admittedly Ubdertale didn't go too deep into

After Deltarune came out, the horror aspect was kinda turned up after Chapter 2, snowgrave is said to feel like an actual creepypasta, and with Kris ripping out “their” soul and with characters saying that while with “their” soul, they don’t feel like themselves really hammers in the idea that YOU are the one causing this, not Frisk, not Chara, but YOU, the player cause this genocide

when you reset your save file WITHOUT a True Reset, certain characters remember that and have different dialogue. E.g. Toriel having different dialogue depending on what preference you selected in the first run, and which one you selected in the next run (same or opposite).

If the only monster you kill in your entire run is papyrus when sans is judging you, he will ask you that if you have a special power shouldn't you use it for good. If you answer yes then he will say "T h e n w h y d i d y o u k i l l m y b r o t h e r" and when he says it his eyes will go black and no music or or the noise of him speaking will play.
This happens when you have killed Papyrus in your current run, it doesn’t matter whether you killed any other monsters or not

For one, it can’t be self defense because Papyrus and Monster Kid don’t even attack you, and Undyne who’s a seasoned warrior almost gets instantly killed by you after you attempted to murder Monster Kid! At that point, Undyne was right to fight you!
Also Chara sadly gets blamed for all of that, because they’re the only character to directly confront the *PLAYER* and not Frisk about their actions!
Toby gets away with far more than what should be legally allowed.
Chara is not the one to blame. The player is the one at fault. Chara is even disgusted by your "twisted sense of humour" if you do the genocide route twice in a row.
Genocide is a very underrated route, it really makes you feel awful, but the curiosity of what lies at the end, continues to push you forward
It doesn't even reward you, Toriel and Papyrus go down with no fight, Undyne makes you angry, but sadly dies, Mettaton hypes up a huge boss fight, but is easily defeated in one hit by your pure strength, just for Sans to make you fall into despair, the character who has been laid back in the Pacifist Route, and shows up multiple times to check up on you, and hang out
Even using all his power, dodging attacks, causing damage per-frame, and keeping his turn going on forever as a last ditch effort to stop you, fails, as he bleeds out, and imagines his brother before turning to dust
And if that wasn't enough, your actions had revived the First human as a thing of pure destruction, Chara was always messed up, but they were never evil, you twisted their mind, and its too late to go back, you are either with them, or against them, but either way, the outcome is the same
Maybe the real monster is truly Human kind
also quick correction, 2:33 is not from Genocide, you cant even start Genocide until after this room

Also, to this day, the community at large still has very little idea of who/what Chara actually *is.* Sure, they're the first human, yadda yadda yadda, but we really don't know their whole motivation or reason for the genocide route. Are they doing it? Are they going along with the player? Are they the consequences of your actions? Why do they call themselves a demon? They're also the narrator too, and they might be in Deltarune Chapter 1's opening.

So, if you replay the game doing the true pacifist run, after finishing a genocide run, everything is exactly the same except for the very last scene (which varies depending if you stay with Toriel or not) which implies that Chara takes control of Frisk's body, and then maybe proceeds to kill everyone.
So doing a genocide run permanently taints the good ending of the game because of the consequences of your actions.*
*Unless you edit the save file... Or your like me and just use task manager when Chara offers you the choice to destroy the world, showing this demon child that their not the one in control.

Hey i haven't watched the whole video yet, so i probably shouldn't be commenting yet, but question:
How the heck did you think Undertale was a horror game? Anything the Internet might've told you about Undertale before playing it probably wouldn't have clued you in to it's scarier aspects(i.e people making memes about sans), or at the absolute most spoilery, you would've known that its scary moments are few & far in between, and thus hit harder because they catch you off guard. I'm not trying to be nitpicky, it just struck me as really odd.
To be honest idk, I never really looked to much into it before recently, which is what inspired me to make this video in the first place is going into what little creepy aspects the game does have (although they are rare)
the feeling of dread you get when sans confronts you for the first time in the judgement hall it genuinely makes you ache when you realize that hes not going to spare you, hes gonna do what you did to his whole kind.
You forgot one thing: The true lab (from undertale, not the .exe fangame), two things that make it CREEPY is the determination on monsters and the fact that it is abandoned (mostly) with someone there, letting you know that _you are not alone_
lil explanation of determination on monsters: determination is normal for humans, but not for monsters, making them melt and get REALLY disturbing and gross, one example of melted character is undyne itself, that melts when she dies because of her determination.
determinated = unable to die, but can make you *suffer* if you're a monster.

honestly i think you should have talked about saving and reloading and resetting more, cause it really shows how utterly hopeless the underground is in genocide as even if the play dies they will come back and come back and come back, bit by bit learning and overcoming the fights, and sans's end goal is to anger and bore you into resetting and in fact thats what the whole game does, undertale the game punishes the player for doing the genocide run, all the fun is striped away and you are left with just a grind, 2 very hard bosses and all for a bad ending that leaves your copy tainted.

Sans knew he cannot beat you, his objective wasn't to kill Frisk, it was to make you leave the game. He is comparing you/the human to a god of his world and we can theorize this is the reason of why Sans is so lazy because only him (and maybe Flowey) know that there is nothing he can do. If you spare Sans, he will instant kill you but he was actually trying to help you with this because he said that if you are his friend, you wouldn't come back, meaning that you need to reset. If you still come back, he will tell the most heartbreaking quote in my opinion : "Wow you look REALLY pissed, guess I did a good job. In the end, we never were friends, aren't we ? Do me a favor, please don't tell this to the others sans, ok ? They will be really sad if they know the truth about you." I don't remember the dialogue correctly but I think I got the idea.

Listen, Chara is just an enabler. Chara didn't 'control' you throughout the entire game (maybe a bit toward the end) but it was YOU, the player. YOU had chosen to go through each place and seek out all those monsters. The genocide ending is glorified. A majority of it is not fun, and it's meant to not be fun. It's meant to get you to stop going down this path. The encounters get less and less frequent each monster you kill, and all fun events/puzzles are disabled. But no, YOU continued. YOU chose to see it through to the end, and what did you get? Your future playthroughs of this game forever tainted (unless you go into the code or something). I understand using Chara as a scapegoat, but Chara didn't do anything but encourage you. Do not be mistaken.

Well technically I didn’t beat sans…. Due to time constraints and getting this video out in a timely manner, taking 10+ hrs to perfect a boss for a 2 minute clip is super impractical. So all of the clips used that aren’t mine are linked in the description

I first discovered Undertale thanks to a video by SomeOrdinaryGamers, back when he was mostly creepypasta-focused. Because of the fact it was on his channel, I assumed it was some weird, niche, indie horror game. The thumbnail being black and white really reminded me of Strawberry Cubes, which I had just watched him play immediately prior. Safe to say, I was totally expecting something fucked up to happen the whole time he was going through the Ruins.
And then, when the 3 episodes of his playthrough ended (the rest was lost due to hard drive failure, I believe), I knew I had to seek out another playthrough. I wanna say the next one I watched was Vinesauce Joel's? It's hard to remember. Either way, it's funny how Undertale can give off that sort of "weird indie horror game" vibe when it's not that at all.
Also, an inventory-ful of pies during the Sans fight? Nice inventory editing.
