    I really enjoy these sorts of videos, helpful when thinking about planting some of these and expected growth, possible issues, etc.

      Glad you enjoyed. I have a few Tulip Poplar and Yoshino videos. I started the channel back when I was planting trees so it's how the channel got started.

    I got one that is 70 ft tall that I planted 25 years ago . Just added 3 more. Love the fall leaves in the wind.

    Thank you for this. It was so helpful. We are thinking about putting a Tulip tree in our backyard.

    Nice vid man. Would love to plant one of those poplar trees here but out of room after planting 6 new trees since last fall lol. We had issues with late freezes as well (northwest Illinois), and two of the newly planted trees were pretty much defoliated because of it for several weeks. Keep us updated on how these progress!

    I hate late frosts so much, such a bummer when new growth gets killed.

    Ive liked this but got 2 questions on this,
    1. Where would you say you've got these?
    2. What about planting a Ginko or Catalpa tree near Dan?
    I do like the progress of these 3 trees and I wish I could plant one but I live on a hill side as the ground has a lot of gravl and sand

      I bought them at a local nursery in East TN. I’m looking to plant another tree or two in the fall, I’ll look into the two you mentioned, thanks for the suggestion.

    Should you cut the leader out on a younger (10 foot) to encourage it to branch outwards, or is it better to leave the natural leader alone do you think? I have just planted one and it’s really tall and narrow unlike yours.
    Thanks.

    • @weekendhomeprojects
      @weekendhomeprojects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd give it some time to grow, the natural leader will likely show itself, then you can trim away the dead leader once it's obvious.

    Late frosts are just the worst, and there is no point of their existence, but rather cause stress and pain for plants. This year's frost severely affected my Japanese Maple tree and scarred and destroyed most of It's canopy.

    • @weekendhomeprojects
      @weekendhomeprojects  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. This year none of the trees looked as good as last year. Hoping for no late frosts next year. (fingers crossed)

      @@weekendhomeprojects Yeah I agree, but probably next there is a chance of no late frosts occurring just the lack of late frosts back in 2019, but I can only hope for that.

    Hi! Thanks for the clip!, I saw one clip from your channel about this plant and I actually have adquired one tree here in Mexico city, but I was surprised that this is not liriodendron tilipifera, this is liriodendron chinese 0=, so you can notice the difference in the leaves where chinese variant has leaves with more figures or form, and does not resist the cold as the american does, and grow less to. Thanks for your clip and I guess I am almost sure your tree as mine are chinese spicies, thanks a lot and keep us with news and be sure I am telling the true. Greetings!

      Interesting comment. The trees label when I bought it said Liriodendron Tulipifera. I’ll research some more. Not sure why they’d label as such. But I saw the pictures of the leaf comparison as you mentioned.

      Which tree(s) from video were you talking about? The smaller new ones? Or the large one? I just checked leaves from the large one - it’s the same as liriodendron tulipifera. Right now raining so I can’t check new ones.

      @@weekendhomeprojects I am not sure which clip, but actually I thought I adquired tilupifera but until yersterday and after month I new the one that I adquired was chinese, and I guess the large you planted is to, but it could be a good idea to check on the web and be sure, even could be lirioendrom X, an hybrid between them but I could't find many information and pictures.

    • @weekendhomeprojects

      @@angelzugarramurdi6922 I checked after the rain, and the three smaller ones I planted last year are all Liriodendron Chinese, based on the leaves. The large one (50ft tall - 15 years old) does appear to be a Tulipifera. So we are in the same boat - I thought my other three were Liriodendron Tulipifera, but they are the Chinese versions. I read up on them, and both are often referred to as the Tulip Poplar. I guess my nursery figured I wouldn't notice. ha. I didn't. Thanks for the good eye my friend. I'll mention that in my Fall '21 Update video.

      @@weekendhomeprojects Even I think nurseries sometimes don't know they are selling chinese as tilipifera and as you say, they take for granted this cause tulip poplar allude to both. Unfortunately I couldn't find more about the hybrid, to which might be another option in the nurseries they sold to us, but I am not sure. Regards and thanks!

    Will tulip poplar grow in tropical weather.....

    • @reuniteireland
      @reuniteireland 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Zones 4-9 so depends on how far south you are talking. They will grow in Florida and Louisiana. Much more tropical than that and you are likely to have issues.

    Hello, I wanted to ask if you cut the main branch, continues to grow in height or will only give branches and stay small.

    • @weekendhomeprojects
      @weekendhomeprojects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends how far down. But in my newly planted tree's case, I had to cut off the dead main branch (the lead) and it established a new one further down. It'll continue to grow taller with that lead, leading the way. I would assume this could be the case even if you cut further down, but am not certain.

    Omg you are going to live in a deep forest one day! I'm planting a couple in the southern Kootenays, British Columbia, on 8 acres tho.
