Nintendo isn’t immune to shooting them selves in the foot every now and then. But their biggest mistake is still leagues better than what most western studios are doing right now. Looking at you rocksteady

Unpredictable until you see a cool fan project for them to annihilate or theres an older game you want supported. Nintendo isn't morally superior to these other corps.

In terms of treatment of all employees, developers, and just consistently making good games people are asking for, Nintendo is objectively/morally on top without question. In terms of exercising their legal rights in scummy ways to annihilate fan projects using their IP, I agree they could absolutely be more lax

Nintendo is polarizing. There games, at least to me, are incredible despite the hardware limitations. But they are awful to their fans. However the games make up for it personally.

I think people are just used to thinking every company is horrible so when the one company that ISNT that bad goes after fan projects I understand the backlash. It's honestly such a unique case

Nintendo could've had incredible opportunities to integrate with its fandom. Imagine an official AM2R switch port on the E-shop. What a wonderful timeline that would be.

Nintendo treat there fans lot better then idiots give them credit for. They give away free gaming system and games to sick kids in hospital. They put characters people been begging to be in smash bros no matter how hard it is to get them in the game. Nobody perfect but ungrateful entitled brats like you are never happy no what they do for the fans. You want a company who treat fans like crap try sony who been censoring games against the fans request to not censored them. You know nothing.

As a former fan, I've started to grow a distaste towards the company's decisions lately and the direction they're going into and I just don't care anymore; I don't watch their directs anymore nor do I plan on getting a Switch or it's successor.

      @@RaysNintendoTalk17 Here's my reasons:
Most of my games that make up my libraries are on the Wii, DS and 3DS, which I still play to this day. My problem is most of these games are locked to their consoles with no way of playing elsewhere other than on emulators. And it doesn't help that Nintendo isn't making it any easier to access their legacy content from the previous generations by going after rom sites for games that they're don't sell anymore and have inflated in price where they're now in the hundreds of dollars.
A lot features for games and such are being locked to the Nintendo Switch Online Subscription. The service I hear sucks; it still runs the same as the now defunct Nintendo Wi-Fi and Nintendo Network, only now you're paying for it. I don't care much for online myself and having to pay to access cloud backups when Valve and Microsoft offers it for free on their platforms makes the Switch online look like a joke.
A lot of their games I feel are overpriced and I'm not referring to the new releases but older titles that have been out on the market for a few years or more that are still marked at full price and never go on sale. I also feel the same way for remakes/remasters that don't make enough changes to justify their full price over the original. The Thousand Year Door remake is a good example of a remake that shouldn't be priced at $80 to $90 CDN for having a lower frame rate than the original's 60 FPS.
I've branched out to Microsoft a few years after the Switch's launch, starting with the 360 and then moving on to the Xbox One (it was my brother's one that he gave to me after getting a Series X to which I'm saving up to get one myself.) I don't see any reason to get third party titles for Switch when they're available on more powerful hardware.
I moved into my own apartment last year and now I have to deal with paying rent, bills and so fourth while living under a monthly budget and I cannot afford to buy games for two different consoles. The only times I can get new games, being it new or used, is birthday and Christmas and it's only ones that I can afford/be interested in playing.
In order to play a lot of the first third titles on the Switch requires owning the console and I'm not really a big fan of being exclusive to that platform only. I see no reason on getting a Switch just to play one or two titles; it would be like me getting a PS4 just to play the 2018 Spider-Man game. That, and the Switch's hardware is showing it's age as both first and third titles don't run as well.
Finally, my last reason is the Homebrew Communities. I modded my Wii back in 2020 followed by my 3DS and Wii U and I cannot play a Nintendo console now without custom firmware. Nintendo may hate Homebrew, but it makes their consoles better and breathes life into their older consoles predating the Switch. It also allows me to take my game roms that I own legally and use them on emulators, should I decide to switch to them in the future.
