As a 30+ year amateur, I still enjoy watching the pros make it look so easy, and quick clean work to boot. I still have two Stihl 084's my dad and I bought in '93, but today I clear trails with a buddy for his ATV tour company, using just a Stihl 261. That thing feels heavy after 5 hours
Beautiful timber take me back to my younger day , now old and use up . Thinking 🤔 processor is save a lot of back and bones 🦴. But chainsaw are still use on big old timber in the mtns side for sure . 😊
Lov them older 660 stilhs. Great fuel caps. Not them half snap fkn things they use now adays. I still have a 066 and a 044. Deadly saws still. Strong and nvr let a guy down in the bush.
G'day Danny, They were the ducks guts Down Under. Stihl build their saws for Australian conditions not many people know that the combination of high daytime temperatures and the hardest woods on Earth makes it very hard on saws in which they excelled. As a result they gained legendary status. I have a pair of 066s and a 660 that I purchased new I can't imagine how they'd run in softer woods with cold air intake. The Stihls still blow up here and wear out prematurely but long after the others 👍.
Vic uses a grinder, and yes his his chain sure cuts nice hey . He's a pretty smooth operator. I sure enjoy watching him work. He was a true gentleman to work with . Victor is retired now .
I have a stills saw for probably 30 some years and never had it to a repair shop ! Have cleared about ten building lots of trees ! Would recommend any one buying a chain saw buy a stilhs chain saw ! It’s a older model I don’t know about the newer models but the older ones can’t be beat
Certainly less tech to malfunction and you don’t need to plug the thing into a computer to diagnose a fault. Put the right mix in, clean the filters when needed, (not once in a blue moon) don’t fiddle with the carb just for the heck of it, maintain the bar & chain well, make sure it’s got bar oil don’t drop a tree on it and don’t lend it out. Should last a lifeline, as should your body, providing you treat both with respect.
