Been listening to Chris Knight for many years. He does in fact have that Texas Country sound which is all I listen to. Nashville just aint what it used to be. But to my point, Chris has that kind of music where you turn him on when your drivin down the highway and you find yourself slowin down and all of a sudden you aint in a screamin ass hurry to get anywhere. just slow down and enjoy the drive and the tunes.
I'm from close to Chris's hometown in Webster County, KY. I moved to Paducah, Ky. (McCracken County) when my dad came home from Vietnam in 68'. When Chris talks I hear so many people I grew up around and his lyrics make me think of people and events in my own life. Although Chris is successful in my eyes, I can't tell you how many people I've had to "turn on" to Chris and they became addicted.
Still holds up. I have been longing for real country. Then I discovered Ryan Bingham and looked up similar artists. Was not disappointed and glad to have just discovered this
he is great. him n Robert Earl keen are the only ones left that can do that..but I'll tell ya..checkout Benjamin Tod and lost dog street band..if you haven't..then you should..I'm picky n that kid is the best there is I know of rt now
One of my favorite musicians you are Mr knight, and the fact that you don't get near enough credit for the beutiful music, well if you were a gutless cover bandit sissy popstar punk calling your noise country music, maybe you could get some more recignition, but I love your sound just like it is, your an awesome artist and I'm proud to call myself one of your biggest fans, stay awesome Chris
Real music, about the ups and downs of life, no sugar coating, no fake sentimentality, no flag waving, no spoiled rotten hat boys driving their spanking new Chevy Silverados to the quarry with the beds filled with hottie bimbos in their mid-riff shirts, tight daisy duke shorts, cowboy hats and boots-----just real music about life. This is a guy with his writing chops who should be bringing in the big bucks, not some plastic, interchangeable hat boys singing their formulaic, "punch list" "Country" songs.
Michael Garrity i seen em in nashville a couple year ago maybe. at the exit/in. he's real deal country. honest and raw. he inspires me to write more truth into my music.
Yeah that's why he'll never be a big star, he's just way too real and honestly doesn't belong in that scene, but he does deserve more recognition, but I don't think there's a platform that can do that yet
Thing is, he's not "country". He's a hick from brown dirt rural America writing and playing honest tunes. Kinda like Neil Young did in the early 70's before he got political. One of my favorite current artists. Cody Jinks is the other.
Michael Garrity I like it because Hes like The Pimp C of country underground king with his talent or mayb even as great as DJ SCREW in its own way the way i become addicted to chris s songs like screws jus raw talent
I know exactly what you mean, it's like they order their "country boy singer starter kit" from amazon. I almost never listen to what they call country music anymore.
Along with Bourbon, The Kentucky Derby, Moonshine, Horse Country, the mountains, the Ohio River, great places to drink and eat in Louisville, Ale 8, John Prine and a few other people places and things----Chris Knight is a true KENTUCKY PROUD TREASURE!!!!
Not many CK songs get you fired up. They tend to make the listener reflect on their past as many of his own songs seem to be him reflecting back in his youth. At least, that's what I catch myself doing whenever listening to him while driving down the road. Kinda makes you not feel as if you're in a rush all the time. Anywho, good stuff old man. Keep pickin' and we'll keep listening. God Bless.
I am very glad, and also very lucky to see Chris Knight at all my sons school functions.. Goes to show this man is an awesome story teller but also an awesome father..
Awesome! New and refreshing country music. The lyrics and the music hits a cord of realism. There is nothing phony about this music! Again, you won't hear this on mainstream country pop. I
@watk089 We do consider him an honorary Texan. He plays a lot here. We appreciate great song writing down here. Well some of us. ( : We are seeing Chris this Friday here in Dallas. Been going to see him for the past 10 to 11 years.
thank you so much for making this song you would never emagin how much it relates to me i lost my dad a couple days ago heart of stone is true to the core
I can see why he was coined an honorary Texan. I definitely connect with his music in a special way. But that’s the beauty of his music, you don’t have to be from Kentucky, Texas, or even America to identify with his songs.
See Chris Knight live in concert April 16, 2015 at 7:30 at HJ Ricks Center for the Arts at 7:30pm, Greenfield, Indiana. This concert will benefit Hancock Hope House and the homeless of Central Indiana. To order tickets online: www.hancockhopehouse.org
Agreed! That goes for other styles. Just listen or dont... The comments on these vids can wear you out.... Music is supposed to be moving, fun etc... if the song isnt dont listen. Plus how many times have we all hated a song, only to love it later. Keep writing and playing...
Have you discovered any bands that you really enjoyed since finding that this song is Americana? I thought I would mention Tim Barry's album 40 Miler and Chuck Reagan's album Covering Ground are two really good performers in the genre. Both of them began in the Punk scene which is till today their day job, we're just glad they continue making solo American albums when not with the band. a It's very apparent this is the best example of a great Altcountry/Americana act that originally identified as Punk. I wanna make sure that is one thing people are noticing otherwise keep away... I just wish the world of Nashville had Carolina Marks...
Well I got drunk with daddy just the other night He said "he was glad to see I turned out alright" I hear people sayin "like father like son" Don't think about it much but I worry bout it some
"Hear people sayin' like father like son/Don't think about it much but I worry 'bout it some". Damn. That's fantastic.
“The baby didn’t make it, so neither did we”
Poetry. My favorite line in this song.

I love this man. Chris Knight is one of the few who refuses to sell out. Pure talent. Kentucky born and bred.
Damn straight, ky proud
The best way to experience Chris's music is a acoustic set in a small venue . Guess I was lucky.!

Great song and performance, love it
I had to lose a good friend to discover his music. My friend requested " Go on Home" at his funeral. I was hooked on CK
Good times hard times adversity and heart break. All things country music doesn't sing about anymore. God bless Chris knight

I can see why he was coined an honorary Texan. I definitely connect with his music in a special way. But that’s the beauty of his music, you don’t have to be from Kentucky, Texas, or even America to identify with his songs.

Far more heavy-hearted than "A Boy Named Sue".

Heart hitter.
good song
Actually Rick Perry named him an honorary Texan.
@sondra6980 No i dont think he did, he writes a lot of songs for other people. Hes originally from Kentucky but hes considered a Texan to most.
Somebody knows what kind of music is ti? Esta muy bueno ese genero de musica!! :)
+Hugo Rivera it's called Americana. Enjoy.

💘
Truth....
authentic
@silhouettefaux its 1/2 step down, and you have to think, this is through comp speakres, and you might be playing a diff guitar(i.e. sound diff)
Does anybody know if his songs have been covered by the mainstream country....kinda like Billy Joe Shaver..or Bruce Robison
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She_Couldn%27t_Change_Me
Well I got drunk with daddy just the other night
He said "he was glad to see I turned out alright"
I hear people sayin "like father like son"
Don't think about it much but I worry bout it some
😊
Chris Knight should be the biggest thing in music but I’m selfishly glad he’s not.
@hub43431 But I've found a lot of good pieces, so I'm not gonna complain ;]
Sorry, he was born in Missouri.
x
Why y'all concentrating so much on the back up singer? Strange
If I read one more guy go on and on about Chris being real or that he should make it I am going to barf! Chris made it! Just enjoy it!
