  • This is the UGREEN Bluetooth 5.0 FM Car Charger ED040 for cars that have older headunits or audio system, such as in my Volkswagen Polo 5(6R) 2013. The FM transmitter connects modern devices with Bluetooth capabilities enabling communication with older cars with outdated head units by using any unpopulated FM radio channel.
Design wise, the gadget has a matted black face with a glossy black chin. The device can be a little buggy when overloaded with media input but paring it with a smartphone media streaming and android auto combo should work fine.
Call quality is decent depending on your cellular network coverage and the location of your 12V cigarette outlet. While the car charger has a microSD slot and a USB A input slot for music, it has both an USB C and USB A port with quick charge 3.0.
Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the product. It is a cheap way to improve your ride without spending hundreds on a new headunit.
    Thank you for watching!

Hello! That's a great question. I don't have any idea as I don't have wheel controls. My guess is that you can't change via wheel controls, only via the physical buttons on the device. Hope that helps. Cheers.

How is the music quality when playing music over bluetooth from your phone?

Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, my car was broken into and this device had been stolen.
However, based on my experience and my own hearing preference, the sound quality was good. Of course, there are plenty of factors to consider. The speakers in your car, the sound file you play(I'm using 320kbps MP3) etc.
Having said that, I have since purchased a newer model from UGreen(CD229) and it was great with bigger memory card support. I have yet to do a review on it and there are some differences.
Overall, I'm happy with the new device. Hope that helps. :)

Hello, thank you for asking! Call quality is one thing I didn't get to test in the video. However in my experiences, I'd say it is fine when it works.
There is a bug with either the device or android auto(AA). As I set my phone(pixel 5) to auto launch when I get into the car, the playback volume gets bugged. Sometimes it'll be louder or softer even though nothing is changed.
I run the device using Google maps on AA, while playing music from the microSD slot and receiving calls at times. Either the mic doesn't receive my input or it doesn't broadcast the output when receiving calls. This bug doesn't replicate consistently which is why call quality as I mentioned works fine when it does.
Having said that, it works fine to me when I make a deliberate phone call(turning off the music and navigation). AA is kind of buggy as well so I can't be sure if it's due to the device.
I'll do some tests this week and update on this.

Hello there, so I tested the call quality (incoming and outgoing) and we both gave 4 out of 5 rating for the experience.
The voice quality was good, I didn't have to shout in the car to get the person to hear me even though as you see in the video, the device is located in a small space under the dashboard.
The only bug to take note is the call volume output from the speaker. As I mentioned it varies even though nothing is changed. You can simply turn up or turn down as needed for the call and adjust right after the call ends so the music will not be blasting your ears.
      Hope that helps. Cheers.
