Now this is a job worth applauding. Shining a light to the plights of the poor and the hungry. This is what should be highlighted.
And shame on people on the Parliament that keep fighting politics all of these years. Now, this is true unity, people helping each other.

It’s time Malaysians should cultivate gardening in their homes , plant their own . Government should open up Community Gardening , bit by bit the awareness of agriculture will be increasing . Blessings to these Good Samaritans ( NGO’s) but how much can they do in the future?
Kerajaan Perpaduan should be sensitive towards this issue before it gets severe.
It’s the fact , the world at soon will go through food crisis but if we give priority to agriculture at least we can survive!

I pray and hope that this will improve with a new government which must be focused on tackling this issue. It’s not something that can be resolved overnight but in proper planning, strategies and policies. Such respect to those in the NGO doing their part to help. Do post such more awareness videos and Malaysians let’s share this more. 😢

    LOL.
Coming from the agri sector, I just want to add that farmers had a terrible 3 year period since the pandemic.
Just as they came out of the pandemic, they faced two other challenges. Manpower and unpredictable bad weather.
Part of the problem lays in how little data is available on volume, price etc etc on a given time period.
Secondly there is very little communication let alone discussion among farmers be it small holdings or larger players.
Finally, the various farming associations like all other trade associations has active advocacy and representation component to it.
The days where government drew up a master plan to develop or fix the issue without even as much as having a dialogue with the concerned parties are over.
Instead of accounting for these white elephants and budgetary blackholes nor learning a from any of the previous failures, we went on to do more of the same except that the bill for the losses increased exponentially.
We are going to run out of money to simply throw at problems long before we run out of problems.
And the B40 and the M40 are the ones going to bear the brunt of the challenges ahead.
let alone base their action plan on some form of local academia research or study

Actually Malaysia under the first 3 Prime Ministers emphasized agriculture and already had a good system to ensure food security... However, the 4th PM, in his zeal to project superficial development, scrapped most of the good food security projects already in place, and diverted those resources to industrialize the country... So it is inaccurate to say we had never thought about food security before.. in truth, the 4th PM sabotaged Malaysian food security with a zeal to industrialize....

Instead of supporting our farmers, we are hearing stories of farmers are being bullied and threatened by authorities.. . We see videos of these "authorities" destroying vegetables and farmers being bullied into paying these authorities. Not sure true or not but there are so many of all these stories of these farmers applying for lease approvals for decades and yet the govt still refuse to give to them approvals resulting in them having to pay so much to appease these "authorities" .. So sad.. Hope the new govt will wake up

We are relying too much on imports and cartels are controlling main food items like meat, rice, and eggs. Plus, the slow increase of the high cost of living and stagnant income make it worse especially for urbanites. I think we pushed for agriculture but prioritized manufacturing and natural resources (logging, monocrop, oil and gas). It is time to move to improve and highlight local agriculture, animal husbandry technology, and alternative foods.

Msia's food sec issue started when Mahathir became d PM. He cancelled most previous central gov support for small farmers to cultivate cash crops, n cheated them into planting oil palm. D result we see is d FGV scandals, unstable palm oil prices, n food sec crisis. That's why today we r seeing this video.
Every year we import around RM8bil of food, which cld hv been better used to develop food tech. Taiwan is a great example. They hv small land n earthquakes to deal with, yet their agri n food tech is probably d best in Asia. Agri policies are highly supportive of standalone farmers instead of corporations, like how Msia has all these oil palm companies.n also destroyed our primitive jungles.
Gov shd also be reducing cultivation of durian for export to especially China. Pahang has cut down so many trees, n involvement by d royal family members is not healthy at all, as land is a state controlled matter than federal.
So far, Anwar's gov doesn't seem to be placing high priority to address our food sec issues. Hopefully will change ASAP.
