    On my 2nd Miata. First was a NB 5 speed manual. Daily driven for 12 years. Now I have a 2009 low mileage GT PRHT A/T. Never thought I’d say this, but I prefer the NC A/T. I think of it as a street legal go-cart, at other times it’s a comfy cruiser. Look, I’m 55, I’ve been shifting my own gears for over 30 years! And I rode motorcycles for 25. All this talk of “Miatas HAVE to have a manual transmission” is bullshit. Both set-ups have pros and cons … but some the automatic is the better choice. I’m glad Mazda offers both. A DCT would be a nice option too.

    I traded in my 2014 NC3 Club for my 2021 Mazda 3 this year. after commuting in it 100 miles a day for 4 years i honestly don’t miss the miata at all now that i have the 3.
    I’ve spilled at least 7 cans of Dr Pepper in my life by forgetting it was in that door cup older and closing it too hard.

    I'm really surprised they even make an automatic club mx-5

    So happy to see you reviewing a Miata again. The engine bay looked really clean.

    It is not a Ford engine. It is a Mazda engine. The duratec is the Mazda engine. The difference is where they are built. Mx5 are built in Japan and Ford ones in America.

      It is a Mazda engine. He keeps deleting me when I correct him. Probably will block me now. Do an NC review and not listen to people like me who has driven an NC as a daily driver since 2013. Also drove an NB for 9 years before that.

    Been dailying a 2012 NC prht touring 6 speed for 6 years. Put 50k miles on it. It’s an amazing car that still thrills me

    Agree! Auto tranny in that car is wrong, unless its a city commuter or otherwise impossible to live with in manual. Thx for sharing the love.
    Miata Is Always The Answer
    Regardless, thanks for the review 😊

      Daily drove the blue one in the beginning of the vid for 2 years, through Chicago winters and all. Best car I've ever owned!

    That’s OK, the first time I drove a Miata, and yes with the top down. Was in the winter at the auto show in 2018

    The automatic shifts much faster in manual mode than a manual. I have owned four NC models, two manual and two auto. I no longer want or need to shift after retiring from driving trucks for 46 years. My 2010 NC2 GT PRHT auto has a MAZDA engine not Ford! You may have found some Fords with Mazda engines but no Ford engines in Mazda's.

  • @johngreat265
    @johngreat265 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I had no idea that Ford owned all or part of Mazda. Mind blown.

    Someday I will have a club trim Miata

  • @armadilllo
    @armadilllo ปีที่แล้ว

    The club with the manual is different than the automatic, The manual has a posi rear end while the auto does not. I have the auto, I don't miss manual in stop and go traffic but yeah, it's not the same. I set the cruise on the freeway until I get to the twisties then use paddle shifters, it does okay. The only thing I've done to it was get the little top control bypass for the top so you don't have to pull over and stop, I can put the top up or down up to 37mph. The NC was the most desirable to me.

    Oh, and no screens is good. If only they ditched the steering wheel controls…. A guy can dream can’t he

  • @bwofficial1776
    @bwofficial1776 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did no one at Mazda think it was silly to put the down "paddle" above the up "paddle"? Also, did feel any more rigid with the hardtop versus the soft top? I've always been curious if the stiffness and weather resistance is worth the weight penalty. I sat in a soft top Fiat 124 once at a car show and quite liked being able to throw the top back by hand.

    • @armadilllo
      @armadilllo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My friend had a soft top, it was cut 4 times by thieves, he tried leaving it unlocked, they still did it.
      My hardtop has never been messed with.

    You keep deleting my comments about it being a Mazda engine, but don’t delete the comment that says the same dang thing before my comment. Dude, really? Just do your research and admit your wrong later if you make a mistake. This is the third time I’ve commented on this..

      While it is a Mazda engine, it was designed under Ford’s control of Mazda and used heavily by Ford. Yes there are minor differences between models and cars, but tomato tomato.

      The hardtop is actually safer. Your roof won't get torn by thieves that way.
