It's interesting how, as soon as we put value on people, beliefs, concepts etc, we by process, devalue others, automatically creating dividing lines. To bring everything to a level where all are valued equally we would need to metaphorically kill off all our attachments.

In his 1 million-subscriber thank you speech, (I may be paraphrasing lightly) Ren advised those “feeling hate against your fellow man”, to feel that hate/pain, express it, the let it go and find new peace. Seems like he is taking his own advice in this song. He wrote it during his darkest times so then he took that pain, disillusion and frustration and expressed it and created art. I’m in awe.
A masochist is a person who gets pleasure from being hurt or controlled by another person!! ren writes "Kill these metaphors I write to all attachments in this life" That is saying a lot about what the song is saying! If you are a masochist then you all in some ways are doing this to yourselves and that is what really hurts! This is genius writing!!
I've noticed that many reactors are just taking the meaning of "masochist" to be the sexual definition where you feel sexual pleasure from receiving pain. The other form is the non sexual type. Ya know, first listen to this I wasn't feeling it, but after going over it several times, listening directly to the lyrics & then applying it to the previous & next verse, comparing that against the flow reference, lyrical reference, beat reference I really get this now... This is up there with Crucify Your Culture for Ren... In particular, he's speaking of KRS 1 & also Muhammad Ali (listen to his political speech, not the boxer) - it's time to stop being Masochists & being ok with the harm inflicted by those in power...

I didn’t enjoy this song even though I am a Ren fan. I understand and appreciate the criticism and critique of western civilization and society. This just seems dark to me which may seem to be the point especially from the breadcrumbs of the trail from previous song releases which provides context. There seems to be no playfulness which also maybe the point. Ok, after watching several reactions I can see Ren is being playful with the beats, flow, cultural references, and of course word play. But REN’s choice of words in his lyrics shows how dark Ren’s eternal dance and mental state has been. As expected Knox’s, Cliff bests, yours, and other reactors and their analysis 🧐 on Ren’s lyrics and flow has been enlightening. This song is not something I would choose listen to on repeat often. Darkness concentrated. I can’t seem to look away like a rubbernecker on the highway passing a bad accident…
This a call out to underground British boom bap rap - The four Owls, Rhyme Asylum, Ocean Wisdom, Little Simz - Venom, and then all the old school US classics. This is an absolutely amazing track. And I get the feeling of rebirth and kill the false and toxic positivity, keep it real, and deal honestly with your emotions.
