    Everyone - get your B7 RS4s while you can. Proved to be bulletproof and one of the most unique sedan driving experiences remaining - and they aren't going to do this again. V8, Manual, AWD, big brakes - these cars values (for reasonable mileage ones) have stopped moving - I expect them to start going the other direction (up). Incredible cars.

      @@johnkodera9926 Great! After i got the car with 59k on the odo, I did carbon cleanup right away, I got check engine light almost next day! of owning the car p2020 - It was a cracked solenoid under the airbox, $45 part. Replaced myself, VagCom helped me a lot to nailed it down, I did install lowering springs H&R, it sits nice now, until DRC will leak. I'm getting front carbon lip and side skirts, and BMC drop in filter, after that, just minimal mods, like black out rear rings and rs4 badge and silver trims on the door and front grille. also thinking to power coat the wheels black. that's all, been 3 months and the car is great! knock on wood, no issues! love how the car sounds, very DTM.... i can do groceries and go places, helps me a lot and not just look at it like I did when i owned 911/996 turbo and only took it out on the weekends, 4 door is a must when you have a kid :) rs4 is rare, which i love it, i like owning something that you dont see on the street everyday.

    Love the b7 rs4, only car I regret selling. Sold it for a 507 c63. Buyers and sellers remorse all in one transaction (the mct trans kills the c63 experience). Have often thought about buying another rs4 (has to be the b7 for the manual trans).

      Quite happy but I have spent a load on maintenance 🤣 new radiator, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, fuel pumps, rotors, all manner of gaskets, transmission service, new tires, bushings here and there, new ignition coils, plugs, new battery, replaced an injector… u get the idea. Right now the car is sitting well and driving great. But the bills are not for the faint-hearted. Definitely better if you can do the work yourself/at home. That being said I still love the car and hopefully keep her running for a long time more.

    One of my university professors had one of these in red parked outside our club room. Always heard about the hype, glad to know it's real! Soo incredibly difficult to find these with low mileage and in good condition because they were so expensive when new, yet are such good drivers many of them were just driven and driven and driven, as they should have.

    If I find out you love Honda S2000 it's over (I have one back in the States).
    In 2007-2009 you could get an Audi S8 with the 5.2 V10 (ultimate old man car).
    An Audi RS4 with an equally amazing 4.2 V8.

    RS4 4.2 is gonna be one of those Audi’s which will be worth like in terms of AMGs SLS. Why? NA V8 making 100hp per Litre. SLS (621hp - 6.2 L ) RS4 (420 - 4.2 L ). To achieve 100hp per L in an NA car is astounding.

    Sick car. I had a tuned/modded B7 A4 S-Line. Loved it so much, always wanted this instead though. Was looking at the new RS3s but, unfortunately, I couldn't find one within 250 miles of my location to test drive one and I wasn't about to drop 65k without driving it first and I wasn't willing to drive that far to test drive a car. I got a M240i xDrive instead. A phenomenal car as well, and I probably will Dinan it to stage 2 or maybe even 3 eventually, but I will own an RS of some sort a some point.

    I don't understand why people like to compare this car to the E46 M3, that makes no sense. The B7 RS4 came out for the years 07-08 in North America, so in reality, it should be compared to the E92 M3, which is also a V8 engine. Either way, this is a great car.

    Hey man! Congrats on the videos you make! I saw that you drove a stage 2 s4 b8 and now I see that that you drove this (the rs4 b7). I will be very thankful if you can compere them in the comments and tell me you thoughts. Because I'm close to buying one of those two, my heart is fully with the rs4 I like it more visually, I like the interior more (the euro cars have the flat bottom steering wheel, the bucket seats and stuff) the tuning possibilities in the s4 is the only thing (and I know about the gas consuption and it is cheaper in every way, so it is more reasonable choice, but like I said, the heart isn't always reasonable. Thank you in advance!

    • @TedwardDrives
      @TedwardDrives  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The RS4 is farrrr more special, but it comes with its own set of fun maintenance issues. Carbon build up, timing chain replacement (apparently buried at the back of the engine!). Day to day the B8 S4 is really lovely because its modern, but certainly won't feel as special as a B7 RS4. The RS4 just makes you feel like superman even if its slower than a tuned S4 haha. the 4.2 V8 also sounds glorious.

    • @b.e.n.1308
      @b.e.n.1308 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your quick response! Yes, I'm familiar with this specific problems, but you buy it, do it if you have to, and forget about the chains, it isn't like the s4 engine. And luckily the carbon build up clean procedure isn't so expensive here. The carbon ceramics are expensive tho... :D thanks again for your comment I'm on your opinion but never driven a tuned s4 so i had to ask. And the rs4 when well maintained and cleaned is no slow car either.

    • @johnkodera9926
      @johnkodera9926 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Alex, its John from the video. The stock suspension hydraulically links all four corners (called Dynamic Ride Control or 'DRC') and is prone to leakage after some time. That's why many RS4s nowadays are on coilovers, like mine on KW V3s. Some people fix the DRC but it can be costly and good coilovers give 80% of the ride quality with an even higher performance threshold. Hope this answers it!

    Amazing car!...But, you didn’t ask about/mention the dreaded carbon build up issue that plagues this engine from like 60K miles and up. 😖 I would have liked to see if the owner has dealt with it much and if the walnut blasting (or similar method) every so often is really necessary. The potential high expense in doing so has kept me away from the idea of picking one of these up with higher mileage.

    • @TedwardDrives
      @TedwardDrives  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I Think i put that discussion or at least a mention of it in the Winding Road Magazine version (should be up tonight). Some say every 20k miles...others let em ride for 90k haha. It is a serious issue and its a shame because otherwise this car is pretty perfect for the price. This particular car has been blasted twice and currently has 88k

    I just feel like this car isn’t fast enough for what it is. It’s a fun cool car. Rare, good priced used, sick wide body. Interior etc. but my 335 tuned would beat it

    • @TedwardDrives
      @TedwardDrives  6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @fordrocks101 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      But you're still driving a 335.....

      Michael Broski the same thing happens with the e9X m3’s. My m3 would no doubt be a bit slower than a tuned 335i, But if you’ve ever driven an m3 you would never go down the ladder to a 335i.. the m3 feels much better to drive

    The engine-out timing chain tensioner replacement is also real, because in their infinite wisdom, audi decided to put timing chains on the back of the freaking engine.

    • @victormartindelcampo2039
      @victormartindelcampo2039 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The rs4 had metal timing chain tensioner guides unlike the s4's and other chain driven 4.2 engines. And part of the reason Audi decided to place the timing chains at the back of the engine was for better weight distribution.

    • @Flakey86
      @Flakey86 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Friend had one essentially totaled because of the timing chain service. It is a terrible design as far as longevity is concerned.

      For the robust mechanical feel and strength, RS4 is superior....But I would still say the e92 is a better all around car, especially in the handling department. There's just something about the gearbox and clutch engagement in the RS4 that sticks with you. Wonderful car.

      The S4 timing chains are prone to failure due to the plastic guides and tensioners. The RS4 has a different engine
      with metal guides and does not have the same issue...
