    Accurate Boss Valiant BV-300-SPJ Slow Pitch Reel
    The Valiant Slow Pitch Jigging reel was designed with the SPJ enthusiast in mind. We took our popular Valiant 300 and 500n models and removed the clicker added an optimized arm length and our popular SPJ knob for added comfort while jigging. The curved design of the frame and sideplate allowed us to design a reel that is incredibly light, but extremely strong.

    My wife ordered the accurate 300 BV for father’s day. A few months back I ordered the cheapest jigging combo that JJ sells. It worked great but I just need something a little beefier . If you are getting into jigging and looking for a combo save up and buy something nice the shimano torium is nice and works great but that accurate is the last reel you will need to buy for a long time

    Great video. I concur with all you said; but feel I need to add a bit. I mostly fish Kayak saltwater in So. Cal. I don,t always get to prime deep water (in Ca. we are limited to less than 600') I love bottom fishing for Ling cod, and other Rock Fish; but also pursue Bass; Calico, Sand and spotted bay bass. I take out 3 rods, one for bait, one for casting/trolling.
    On my retired Trucker budget I matched the 300 SPJ to the Temple Reef Elevate 2 that I bought from you. I LOVE IT. No outfit is perfect for everything, but this one fits my Kayak and multi species fishing as close to perfect as I need. I fish jigs from 42g Coltsniper to your Flatfall at 180g with a couple of 200g Torpedo type jigs on 30# Diawa J8 Braid with 20-30# topshots. I use the great gear from your shop for swivels, rings, hooks and such. You have helped make me a very happy retired fish chaser.

    Great review! That's the reel I use for SPJ on the west coast. I spool it with 420 yards of #20 yozuri. No problem fishing 600 feet deep water. Lightweight, Powerful, Smooth. The only downside is the price.

    This video talked me into this reel which I coupled with your Slow element ELSJ-B62M PE3. I am now spoiled by this light powerful combination. I put a SPJ power handle on my Boss fury 400 which made it even nicer. But now I want another DV300 in one of those fancy colors.

    Sick reel. Wish it was a tad cheaper though. Lotta dough for a pint sized reel, even with the power it has.

    Did you scale to see if you could really get 23 at full w/ 10 at strike? Would be interested to know... The drag cam profile on my accurate ATDs sucks, had to get them reground to have the workable range I needed. Wonder if they've improved things on newer models.

    Hello. Trying to decide which braid to put on my new 300spj. Mostly for inshore but occasionally pushing the limits in deeper waters. Is there a reason you would suggest 20lb over 15lb on this reel for anything under 500ft? I’ve heard people say go heavier inshore and lighter in the deep. But my instinct would be to go lighter on a smaller reel.. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @jameskempienski
      @jameskempienski 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I put nomad ammonite pe2 on mine. It’s the same diameter as 20lb braid but it’s breaking strength is over 40lbs I think 48lbs of breaking strength. I got 450 yards of it on my 300 spj

    • @raleighthomas3079

      You get way more ‘leverage’ ( actually torque ) with the lower gear, than just a longer crank arm. My opinion. Would I buy one as Demo’d? Hell yes!

    I don't mean to sound like a douche (i know, too late). Max drag means the max a reel can do in lab conditions. Typically, you are looking at an empty spool with drag cranked all the way up. Realistically you wouldn't fish that way. Second, 10-12 pounds at strike with a full spool is too high for a 23lb max drag reel. Six to nine pounds would probably be safer for the reel.

    • @JohnnyJigsTV
      @JohnnyJigsTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my point. Most people think that they are at 10-12 but actually are fishing more like 8-10. If you needed to stop a fish the idea is that you have the option of pushing the drag to that extent. I do realize that there is alot of miss information out on social media so we do try our hardest to only list the facts including the ratings of the reels as specified by the manufacturers. I have many many hours on that reel and can tell you from my experience it fishes just fine at 12 pounds of drag in the strike position. I mention drag in several of my other videos ( fishing videos) and we suggest 10-12 pounds of drag several times. I don't think you sound like a douche at all. You are absolutely correct..Jig On! Johnny

    • @77jaycube69
      @77jaycube69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JohnnyJigsTV Agreed. A lot of people think they actually need 23+ pounds of drag to land a fish. But in actuality, 23 pounds is an insane amount of drag. PS, your shows are awesome and keep making them.
