Everything about this is just fascinating from start to finish! The melodies, the energetic and rhythmic lower strings, the variety of instrumentation, harmonic rhythm and progressions, the tempi, the Scottish sound (tin whistle and bagpipes?) at 1:08 to a suddenly Spanish-sounding guitar interlude at 2:18, and then those blaring horns at just the right moment (the 3:15 mark - wow!). You get the sense that you have embarked on an incredible adventure full of heroism, idealism, and courage... Thank you Mr. Chappell, thank you very much!

An absolutely successful piece. I love the build up of the piece of music to the climax.
The piece has many individual small music passages which remind me of Anno 1800 New World, Thomas Bergersen album Sun, the character (music type) of Rondo Veneziano music, cartoon Ferdinant (Spanish guitar music) and Brunhuville (Celtic).

Alright David I'll be honest with you. I wasn't too impressed with "Awaken" nor "Sky Pirates". They felt like your typical audio machine/ epic music with predictable buildup. Still great in musical feel but they didn't give me the same musical feel with your past work.
But this one "Defiant", this one is beautiful. This one feels like an evolution of your past work. your musical storytelling in this one is amazing. From the initial thought of defiance, to being unsure of one's defiant actions, to the "no I must do this".
They've all had great storytelling but this one is by far my favorite from your new album and has been on repeat so far. I'm excited to hear the rest of your album, especially if there's more music like this to come.
