So if say a golf cart motor wired in series can run off a.c. if wired in this fashion and would it do so on a small 50 amp welding transformer? I'm just itching to try this but I want your personal opinion on this

The disadvantages of universal motor are sparks, loud noises, and brush wear out, thus the brushes have to be a high resistance, and also to be smooth, so the noise level doesn't increase, the advantage of universal motor is it can go higher than 17,000rpm, it can handle a lot more force in portable drills, and it has a high torque.
