Like you said, crowd control - I like using the Particle for stunning Specials then finishing them off with the shotgun. Also good for quick lasers vs Drones to quickly damage them so they retreat.
I finally almost beat the queen last night on insane. We got her but we died at the exact same time so the animation kicked in but it still said we lost 😂😆 Btw I've been using that shotgun a lot

Yeah i don’t like the replacer either it kinda neuters the Lancers identity. Need to remember also that you only get 3 seconds of slow from disrupting radiation as it’s concurrent with the 2 second stun.
I think their mistake was treating the lancer like the Demo. The lancer has zero kit synergy with 3 weak lances and no way to improve the cool-down beyond spending grid slots unlike the demo.
The dev’s were a bit lazy with the new abilities, lancer, gunner, and demo got abilities with 3 charges and half cooldown they feel way too similar. Demo should have gotten something like a massive aoe slow mortar with a longer cd, and lancer’s new lance should have had 2 charges and some extra effect just to make all 3 characters different, gunner’s new grenades seem balanced and fun unlike rocket spam demo
Precision Rockets make the Demo a powerhouse man. Utility should come first, imo. The Kit sorely needed some added firepower and now it got it. If you ask me, Lancer and Recon were the ones least thought out.

I got my cooldown to 10 seconds.. I use it to slow alien movement and crowd control.

The particle pulse is easily the worst dlc perk. Its far weaker than the default Lance even on standard mode. Not useful.
It's supposed to be used as a CC method. I don't like it either.

I suppose you are referring to the triple laser Replacer. You get that by completing the Pathogen Campaign.
