Now however, after all the help you gave me with Mage Knight, and watching your series in it's entirety, I have come to realise your videos are a treasure. Truly you are dedicated. Fantastic editing. Wow... for many years I have assumed that this War of the Ring game was a remake of SPI's War of the Ring from 1977 (which I own). It's not! I should stop assuming things and pay more attention. Thanks for the great videos, as always.
By far the best tutorial of this game. Just bought it for my girlfriend and I, and we were very stuck and watching others explain so many concepts all at once was overwhelming. This example game helped us understand the game so much easier, and now we play almost every week! Thank you!!

It's really a must-have addition as it adds a lot (elusive monsters, and ones you can't use abilities/spells against) plus a bunch more AA and spell cards. Not only that, but you get one more hero specific card so 1/8th of your deck is unique. The best thing is that you get to eliminate dummy with the addition of Voltare's 2 new scenarios. Since he has loads of blanks (wounds) and draws one card/turn, you get to do a lot more per round now. Plus, one new move-focused hero and co-op abilities

just recently got this (after many months of "will I / won't I"!) & found this series of videos incredibly helpful to get started. I'm typically quite thorough so I was always going to read through the rules, but I got the distinct feeling the read through would have been far more difficult had I not watched this series first. I was literally just looking last night for a good WoTR series after watching your Mage Knight series. This is awesome!
Battles f the third age I don't believe is really any use with 2nd edition for balance reasons. This is being resolved with the release in March of Lords of Middle Earth which brings important characters and monsters into play in a much more balanced and themed approach

Thanks so much for your hard work on this series (particularly the editing/camera work). I found it incredibly helpful overall. Also took both of your suggestions re: coloring the base of the minis and getting separate red/blue combat dice. I am running with opponents on Saturday!
wow. I never thought a game of Lord of the rings could be this good. I've been avoiding them like the plague. Hmmm... I think I might buy this one too.
Probably the best LOTR game made although it is slightly biased toward the Shadow player without the expansion set.

it does have some trouble with my accent and get the words wrong sometimes.....
Sorry this is obviously the 2nd edition, and that has some modifications to it with regards to the first edition so it's more balanced out of the box. I was talking about the 1st ed. which is better balanced with the add on set, "Battles of the Third Age". This specific add on isn't recommended to use with the 2nd ed. as it will make the FPP too strong.

Cool. Been trying to learn this game for a while, but haven't had the patience to really get into it. These videos will help a lot - seeing it being played/explained. Good work
I love that everything is gigantic in the game except the combat dice which look very, very tiny. Either that's to fit in the box or to save money. Either way, I'd love to have been in their office when they had to make that call. Just strikes me as funny.
Love your videos Rick. And I'm joining the chorus of people clamoring for a Mage Knight Expansion playthrough. After being throttled in both games in Solo Conquest, I'm going on to the Volkare quests to try my luck there.

Great series Ricky. I only own 1st edition but have recently upgraded. How about a vid series featuring expansions? The Two Towers is more of a tactical expansion, and the Lords of Middle Earth pack is for 2nd edition.

You made me buy this game, and I have played it once and won as Evil.
Now I am thinking of one of the other games you did,
namely [Level 7] Omega Protocol.
I have already played and loved the sequel, [Level 7] Invasion, and from what I have seen, the games are not at all similar, but I really want to try Omega Protocol.

Llamad Mow it's good, real good - but it only works well with a frw people. If you want a similar experience solo then try FFG's Gears of War ;)

I see it as the fellowship is still hidden when declared, is this true? My friend and i had a discussion about when the fellowship is revealed. I think the Fellowship can only be revealed by a hunt tile containing a reveal icon, or maybe a card. He thinks the fellowship is not hidden when declared also. What is the answer?
Great question. The fellowship remains HIDDEN. If the free-peoples declares the position of the Fellowship, it is still NOT changed to "revealed".

Would you recommend this game for beginners? Because I've been looking into getting a board game to play with my friends and trying to find something easy but fun! Suggestions?
i wouldn't say this one was easy. If you like the theme, try Lord of the Rings by Knizia (www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/823/lord-rings), which is a co-op, not player versus player, so mistakes are not so contraversial, but War of the Ring is much better... watch the videos and decide which you think is a best fit:)

Yes! Step 1. whiteout (e.g. tipex) and leave to dry; 2. colour with felt-tip pen (I used Promarket Letraset for comics)
