From what i heard the reasons they scrapped the anime version, was because of some sort of effect that the spots on Ladybug's costume created, because they wanted it to be marketed to a younger audience, they decided to make it more lighthearted, and it took longer to make the episodes. Which is actually kind of sad, because I really liked the anime/PV version of the show.
