Absolute love this song. When i was single, lonely, and getting drunk, id play it over and over, crying, wishing for that relationship. Now that i am married with kids it’s still a song that brings me to tears. Love my wife! Love my kids! This songs sums up my life leading up to my wife!
This song was written about my life. I met the most beautiful and amazing woman 39 years ago at the lowest point of my life. I was broken. She introduced me to Jesus. That was a life changer. God has blessed us abundantly!!!!!! We are now closer and deeper in love than ever. We so enjoy listening to the 70s & 80s music, especially this song, when we go out crusing in the exotic speed machine I bought her a few months ago, just because I like her. She still looks hotter than the car, and I don't mind that kind of problem! On top of that we have 7 adult children and our 5th grandchild due soon. I am the most blessed man alive!!!!!
@user-jv7bl2re4w Oh Jimmy, are we all sensing jealousy and envy in this comment. Are you suffering from loneliness or maybe depression? Did you never find love or did and lost it? Did you suffer trauma as a child? Were you never loved as a child. Where you abuse at any point of your life? Did you get picked on and bullied in school? Did you transition and realize that it was the wrong choice? Do you hate seeing people who have found true happiness? Do you dislike it when you hear about people with happy marriages and families who love each other? Are you battling being a racist? Are you currently homeless and hungry, struggling in poverty? Did you happen to come to the US illegally and found you want to ho home, but can't afford to? Are you in counseling for any or all of the above. Jimmy, please don't feel inferior to our successes, as your reply was both ignorant and childish. Other than that, enjoy the rest of your day.😊
You deserve credit Derek! Awesome song! This song was playing when my future wife asked me to roller skate. Since then, I never looked back. We married in 1993. Going strong since then. Thanks for this song!!
Flying the Flag 1980 was a great album. My high school sweetheart and I wore out that cassette big time. Kudos to Derek Holt for keeping the Climax Blues Band music alive!
I'm a big fan of climax blues band..i always play and listen to this very beautiful song especially when i have a cup of coffee and try to remember my past girlfriend.
The original band was fantastic, Colin and Peter have passed on to the other side in 2008 & 13 I believe. John Cuffley, the drummer seen in this video who replaced the original drummer, George Newsome, (Cuffley) resides in Europe and I believe still plays locally, if I remember correctly he is now in his 80's. How the band in this video was formed: By chance, a fellow in Seattle met and asked Derek why he wasn't playing out, he said he didn't have a band, this fellow, Anthony Lilly, put one together for him. In this video you have: Derek Holt, Bass, Keyboards & Vocals, the only founding member of CBB still regularly performing to the best of my knowledge. - "TC" - Tony Coleman, BB Kings drummer of 33 years. - Rick Knotts, Guitarist for local Seattle Band "Rail". - Lynn Sorensen, local Seattle musician, Bass, Guitar and Violin, who also toured as bassist for Paul Rogers & Bad Company. - Myself, Sax, Keyboards and Vocals. We were very proud to back Derek up as the Climax Blues Band in 2018 & 19. We rehearsed about 8 times before this was filmed. Tough business, We didn't get the traction we needed to tour or we'd be out there today. Derek plays weekly in Spain where he resides and is now semi retired except for playing music locally.
This song, if there was a song that describes mine and my husbands life and love story, it would be this one. We got married in 1979 at the tender age of 18. I was pregnant with our first son. The night I conceived, I had told him we could not have relations as I was at the prime time to get pregnant. We were both seniors in high school and had been seeing each other a minimum of three nights a week. He said at the time, I do not care if you get pregnant, if you do than we can be together for all times. Since then we have had a few rough patches, especially when he was "hitting the beer", mixed with spending time with his buddy "Jack" as in Daniels. I had told him at that time, that I loved him with all my heart, but if he was to continue to drink, he would be going it alone. I did not want our 3 children growing up in an alcoholic home the way that I had. I was committed to going on alone if he chose to continue his beer and alcohol, but he stopped cold turkey, and has not picked up a drink since. This was a hard thing to do as everything he had ever done, such as skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding or kicking back in the sun, he always had a six pack of coors and a fifth of Jack Daniels along. We have been fortunate to work and play together and have almost spent 24 hours a day together since we got married. Feb 14, 2023 would have been our 44th wedding anniversay. Sadly he was 4 days shor to making that special day. He has died unexpectedly, and I still am in shock. We love this song as it tells our life story in a song. Thank you for this beautiful song and the joy that it has brought into both of our lives. I hope this song can bring as much comfort and love to the many other fans that love it. Sincerely, Julayne Stoker
Julienn thank you for sharing your personal story. It brought tears to my eyes. What a life of memories…Hold those special memories close to your heart.

I didn’t know who sang this song, all I had was part of the lyric in my head. Plan on playing this for my wife.

This was a live outdoor theater performance, you're hearing the crowd, no other music going on.

Don’t worry, life is short. You’ll be dead soon enough and won’t have to be sad anymore about it.
