FYI: I made a mistake when choosing the input from my audio interface, in this video it doesn't really reflect how good the saturation is, the drive works wonderfully. Thank you 👍
Hey there. You sure those inputs are "stereo"? And not balanced mono? I always thought that each of these 8 inputs are for mono devices like karaoke microphones, or guitars? I'm thinking of getting one for dedicated FX sends but cannot even find the schematics for it )) But if each input takes stereo - it's almost ideal for my current plan.
Hi, I could be wrong but I think it is stereo inputs. Although reading through the manual I couldnt find any specific mention, but from my usage I think it is. Some websites have scanned the original manual, I think it could be useful. Hope that helps, thank you for checking the video, really appreciate it 👍
Thank you for responding so quickly. Yeah, I went through the entire manual and it made no mention of what type of signal/plug goes into each channel. Reddit wasn't of much help either. So I went to the electronic teardown videos and photos, and each of the inputs does have 3 main leads. Then it dawned on me that the 3rd lead could be just for balanced audio, and without the exact schematics, - I can't really tell. I am currently looking for those. But hey, if you plugged in a 1/4' STEREO plug (or a 3.5mm with a 1/4' adaptor) and it didn''t sound only in one ear, or like mono being played by both headphones, - then it's probably safe to assume it's stereo. 🤔😉 Or just take the fact that it says "stereo" and assume it extends to inputs as well. 🙂Anyway, I'm offered one with a couple of slider caps missing ridiculously cheap so I'll just go for it. @@benrabary
@@NEKRWSPHEREUltimately Its up to you, but I would recommend, if you find one in a relatively good condition and you're looking for this type of "characteristic". In any case, I hope it works out for you, thank you again 👍
I've read some article about the other bx series and understood that this one has some sort of compressing/limiting, but I was also surprised by this, I've tested this again and I dont think anything is clipping. But thank you for checking out, I really appreciate it 👍
In this test no, as there are few level of control before I hit the DAW, there is the output of the SP, level of the inputs...but you can use the drive to overload it without clipping. Thank you for checking out 👍
@@benrabary Oh okay :) thanks for your quick answer.. your mixer is distording the audio in a way different way than mine. The "clipping" sound on the kick is quite nice on your mixer.... I recently bought a Yamaha am802.
There are many of them, BX8, BX800, BX6, BX4 etc. This although being the cutest looking from the series w the coloured knobs, is the one that has the least impedance threshold. Meaning, it can distort and somewhat nicely, but punch the gain a little too much and you overdrive it to destruction... not in a nice way. For live it can be OK, again, just watch how much you drive the signal.
I also think this is the great looking one, I read about the impedance threshold on Reddit I think, and yes the bx800 seems to be a nicer. Thank you for checking out I appreciate it 👍
@@benrabary i checked for myself, years ago, and not to help you. Use your senses, with the machine you have, line input goes quickly to mic, so saturate accordingly... use your ears. Theres somespots in the vid where its sounding like decent saturation and it goes quickly to mayhem and it seems you dont notice the difference. And tbh its not in a nice way and the channels are obvs overdriven to oblivion. I dont understand making reviews and talking about other boos units when u dont know them. I own KM60, BX... all of them. And i dont talk about them. Food for thought.

Haha I was going to say. Do you have any examples of the saturation?
@@johnhansenbristow2900In the next video I have an example on this. Thank you for checking, I appreciate it 👍
So why you dont record proper video all i heard is blown up speakers almost
Great video, interesting to see how it sounded with the monotron incorporated into it - just got one of those recently so very cool
the monotron is definitely a cool device, thank you for checking out 👍
Great video. Very nice house track too.
Thank you, really appreciate it 👍
Subbed because i have a bx-60 and this is the content i need
These bx mixers are pretty cool, thank you, I really appreciate it 👍
Been reading the BX8 is the best of the lot
@@saren6538 I also agree, thank you for checking the video, I appreciate it 👍

The 8 channels are mono. You have to use two channels to input stereo.
Proud bx-80 owner
Always nice to see other owners
That doesnt sound like analogue distortion, was it clipping your digital interface by any chance?

Sounds exactly like that to me as well, I own a BX-8 and a BX-16. The Master volume should have been turned down as the Gain was raised.
Nice mixer! I have the BX-80.
Glad to see another BX owner, thank you 👍

@@MushyBrainBeats nice, I haven’t looked at the am802 yet, but it seems to have more send&returns.
