  • LIVING IN ABUNDANCE - ENCOUNTERS WITH AGROFORESTRY
The transition towards sustainable and regenerative agricultural systems is necessary and urgent in view of the climate and biodiversity crisis, the loss of forests and soil degradation. In Bolivia, we find experiences that show that it is possible to reconcile economic activity with the principles of life, imitating nature and favouring the regeneration of ecosystems.
Experiences in Bolivia with organic cocoa production in diversified agroforestry systems and with dynamic agroforestry are unique: Important experiences include those of El Ceibo, the first certified organic cocoa producer with its farmers working under agroforestry systems (since 1977), Ecotop with the development of successional or dynamic agroforestry systems (since 1995) and the international research project SysCom Bolivia comparing monocultures and different types of agroforestry systems (since 2008).
In this video different actors share their experiences from the Alto Beni region and demonstrate that agroforestry systems - productive and sustainable - are a real alternative to conventional agriculture with the use of agrochemicals. These encounters can change our agricultural and forestry practices, our vision of how we want to nourish ourselves as a society, and even how we approach science.
