What a wonderful venue. I started there at 13 in 1953. Till I graduated from highschool in 1959. My husband went there with me in the last days sometime in 1967 or 1968. I still have the coat check from the coat room that they told me to keep. I am now 76 and dream of rollerskating. Doing the specials to the wonderful organ music. I wake up feeling wonderful. God bless all of you who made my time there so wonderful. All the great friends I met. I then went back to skating at Brookpark Skateland at the age of about 28 till about 37 taking lessons from Donnie Perkins and Wayne Worjuniski. Becoming quite proficient in dance and figures. Skated a few meets and won 1 in figures. What memories. Great friends there also. Wonder how they are all doing now that we are all so much older.
Thanks, so much for the appreciation of the work on this video. As a long time Cleveland roller skater, and Organist...my history was not at the Rollercade. However, many friendships were made with those folks, after the closing in the late 60's. I'm also happy that Organist, Bill Zopfi has contacted me, and viewed these vids. Johnny Sharp[
Wow, what a great video! Thanks for the great memories of rollercade. I used to go every Thursday night with my sister-in-law, I remember the snack bar, the little pleated skating skirts and matching boot covers and that organ music!!! I wa 13 yrs. old at the time, now I'll be 60 in December! Where have the years gone?
This is an absolutely wonderful video. I brings back many wonderful memories. I sure hope that some where their are still Skating Arenas which play sweet soft hammond organ music. Many thanks the folks who posted it. This video a real treasure.
Brings back memories, I got hooked skating Saturday & Sunday sessions as a kid at the Rollercade. I didn't take figure lessons until I was in my mid-thirties & forties for dance. Thanks so much for sharing!!! ......Lex Appel
This is just one of many great venues (skating and other activities) to shut down in Cleveland........ If it weren't for that, I might still be living there.
AWESOME Video John thanks and thanks to the ones who sent the footage. I never got to skate at Rollercade but feel I Know how it was to skate there from times my dad talked about when he did. You have to love the sound of that old Wurlitzer. Thanks Doug
My neighborhood when I was a kin in 60s. I probably went there two or three times a week back then. Thank you.!
The organ over the bulldozer footage just gets at my heart.
I can understand that

ROLLER rewind we lived on 52 street which is like 10 minutes in a car from there but it was a grocery store growing up what year did they close down?
This is great! Thank you so much for posting this!!!
This is AWESOME!
I remember going there many times. Went with Girl Scout troop but fell and broke my leg doing circle dance.
Thanks for sharing, isn't it amazing how far video quality has come since those early film days?
Give me the old style skating music here over the frantic modern skating music any day!
I'm with you on that!
@MrGto1967 The origin of this footage remains unknown. The man who sent it in doesn't know either. I have a feeling, some day, we'll find out. Js
At last, REAL roller skating! Not that crap jam-skating.
