Gday Tim...back home now....I had an absolute FANTASTIC time in NZ! I will get around to upload the Brodrick Hut section of the tramp....I went up the river bed as before and I STUPIDLY made the mistake to follow the DOC trail (about 45 minutes before the hut)….and yes, I got to a marker and then the track disappeared without seeing the next marker....so back down to the river!!!
@@martyfelber6102 It's a common avalanche path. Mid winter it pays not to linger there. In the early 90's there was a massive one came down and the blast blew trees over on the other side of the river. That would have been something to see.
Yeah that's a pretty big one, you can see why the trees are wiped out in many vallies from the hundreds of years of this abuse. Nice that you captured it.
There was many years ago (and probably still there) a heap of trees that were "flattened" in just one area (this is up North temple track)...we always wondered HOW they flattened and we thought "Nah...it cant be from that mountain top (that was VERY far away) ...but after witnessing the aftermath of this video....yes, I believe it was !
Great video Marty and record of the avalanche. Nice to meet you in Memorial Hut where you had the inside so warm and tidy. Tim and Ailsa.
Tim Trengrove. Thanks!! I will send u video of up at Brodrick Hut when I get time🥃😁maybe when I get back to home

@@martyfelber6102 looking forward to seeing the video. Sorry you too experienced the DOC (bad) sense of humour track markers to nowhere.

What do you mean it should not be there? Avalanches have been coming off Boanerges down that gully for a long time.
I have been up this valley many times since 2003 and its the first time I saw it down to the point it crossed the river!
