In the last few days their PM stepped down, had his house burned to the ground, and their capitol palace was attacked and captured from the last I heard. The PM supposedly jumped on a ship and left the country, but I have only heard rumors about that for now.
It's such a failed country. Started due to racist policies and massacres by the majority race Sinhala towards the minorities especially Tamils since independence in 1948. This caused a 30 year civil war and led to the economic situation of the country today.
