So lithium is a metaphor. She’s in love with being sad but at the same time she wants to be happy and “let it go”. She’s use to feeling sorrow for a long time so having to feel something other than that is foreign for her- It’s a battle within herself. She doesn’t actually take the drug.
It's about how she felt while in a relationship with the Seether guy...he couldn't show love and affection unless he was under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. She felt lonely and unloved when he was getting high or drunk but she lived with it (for a while anyway) because it's better than being alone.
Definitely one of their more poignant songs. So dark and beautiful all at once, and one where Amy’s vocals and songwriting abilities are in full show case.
Es que la música y el video logran que esta letra consiga reflejar ese sentimiento vulnerable. Es arte. Cada imagen del video es super estetica y cuidad.
This was the second single, I remember hearing it a bit on radio in early 2007. Yeah Lithium has that medicinal uses as well as the metal element type ones. The Piano really adds to the ambience. It also kinda reminds me a little of the piano melody in Australian band Eskimo Joe's 'From The Sea' (2004). Another one that builds and has a bit of dynamic sonically between soft and big chorus at the end.

This is my favorite song by Amy Lee and Evanescence. So powerful and that buildup at the end is so amazing.
