    So this isn't really a review channel. Sure, when I first had offers to review products, I got excited and accepted. And I quickly learned that it's tough to review a product when a) that's not what you normally do and b) you aren't really that psyched about it. So I adopted a policy of not reviewing things unless it was something I believed in.
    So when Bluetti reached out to me, I was hesitant at first. But I'm outdoors a lot. And I have a ridiculous amount of things I need to keep charged when I'm out there. I've been through a lot of power stations, but never found something that really met my needs. So I started researching the Bluetti EB55 and all I saw were good things. And simply comparing the stats for the Bluetti EB55 against the competition made it clear that this was a special product.
    So I said yes.
    I was not disappointed. In fact, I was seriously impressed. From the second I took it out of the box, I could tell this was a quality product. The feel of it, the weight, and all those smart design choices. Bluetti set out to make the best power station they could and it shows.
    Sure, it's not cheap. But it's value for what you're spending. And it's less expensive than the most recognizable contender in this class. See, I've had people recommend power stations to me. They all recommend the same brand; Jackery. But as you'll see in the video, the Bluetti leaves the Jackery 500 in the dust when it comes to both features and performance. It's even less expensive.
    So yeah. The video will speak for itself. If you're looking for a solution to power all your stuff out in the wilderness, the Bluetti EB55 is quite simply the best option out there.
    One last note; Bluetti sent this to me free of charge. But I made it absolutely clear that I could say whatever I wanted, good or bad. So this is an honest, unbiased review. You will not be disappointed.

    Ive had the sister product to this (PS54) for about 6 months now. Same stats, same form, same outlets and input ports, same light & phone charger..only diff is a 2 part handle vs a one part handle and no app support. I use it to power a shed and for camping, has been amazing. Can power all my hand tools in the shed (skilsaw, drill, sawzall etc.) as well as lights, outlets, charging stations etc. also can use to start my snowblower, very handy. Charges quickly from an outlet (~3 hours) or solar panel (depending on weather/panel output of course). Really no downside that I can tell, and I paid less than $200 at Walmart (same price right now).

    Are these systems stackable?
    As in can we add more batteries if needed

    Hopefully there'll be a lot less expensive.

    Have several different makes of power stations & have found the 'exact percentage' readouts to be anything but ! Charging : indicating 78% suddenly jumps to 100% and ends charging . . . . discharging same can go from say 32% to zero in a moment &/or the reverse it gets to 1% or even zero yet continues to work for several to many more minutes.
    Sometimes intentionally charging to Full and then discharging to Empty with no reversals in the middle will increase the accuracy of the percentage display in following usage but still expect some discrepancy. thanks, RH

    What about the noises fans on each end?

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only had them come on once and wasn't paying too much attention; but they obviously weren't noisy enough to stick in my mind. When I was setting it up to get the solar panel shot it was slightly windy and I was in the sand; I started thinking that getting sand in those ports could be a concern. When you plug it in to an outlet to charge it, the charger has a fan in it that makes some noise. I've seen some reviews mention it but it wasn't loud enough to bother me. Not to mention you can always just plug it in in another room to charge if it bothers you. If I can get them to come on again, I'll see what I can do to measure the noise and let you know.

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They kick in when you're drawing a lot of power - I plugged in a TV, laptop and toaster. Pushing down the toaster plunger overloaded the unit and shut it off. The fans kicked on but they were really pretty quiet. I got this for multi day camping trips for charging phones, GPS devices, UV water purifiers and all my camera gear. No combination of those things ever caused the fans to come on. I don't think this is really made for larger loads from multiple home appliances. But I guess it all depends on the combination of devices and total wattage draw.

      I had it charging on the counter, but was watching TV across the room. I heard it, for sure, but since I would probably only charge overnight when I take it out, it's not an issue to me. I suppose if you're in a hotel and only have one room, it would be more noticeable.

      Just plugged a 32" TV and laptop into it and it was drawing between 47~63 watts and running them fine. Then I plugged in a toaster and....it overloaded it and it shut off. (When that happens, it just turns off; you simply turn it back on to reset it.) My bigger TV's are mounted to the wall as is my router, so I couldn't plug them in. I got this for multi-day outdoor trips for recharging phones, camera gear, drones, running a laptop....basic outdoor stuff. And with the solar panels, I could keep that kind of gear going out there indefinitely in AZ. But for home stuff like a TV, fridge, etc. I have a gas powered generator. They aren't too expensive, but the fuel is a pain. Don't really think this is made as a back up for power outages. It could get your absolute basics, but not ideal for that kind of use. If the power went out, I'd have my fridges hooked up to the gas generator, then recharge phones and stuff with the Bluetti, keeping the solar panels as an option to recharge it. As for TV in those situations....well, that's why I have books and board games.

    Lack of UPS will be a major disadvantage for some people.

    • @d0nj03
      @d0nj03 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've looked around for the ones with UPS functions and they tend to be either way overpriced per W and per Wh vs. the others, or their switching time is real iffy like 30+ ms, where most computers would feel it and reset. Staying in this lower price class I've decided I'd rather get an actual UPS + a great price/performance PPS, and just live with having to manually switch my computer from the UPS to the PPS if the power goes out. (Still studying if I want to have a lead-acid battery in my house though, never crossed my mind that most UPS models use lead-acid like cars.)

    • @GodfreyMann
      @GodfreyMann 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@d0nj03 I pretty much reached the same conclusion…yo science! I looked into health concerns with lead batteries, but the issue seems to be more around the polluting effects relating to the production processes (especially recycling lead acid batteries). I didn’t find any reports into the batteries themselves being bad for health…or did you find something or have other concerns?

    • @d0nj03
      @d0nj03 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GodfreyMann Just the list of hazardous aspects, the sulfuric acid is obviously very corrosive and dangerous if you get a leak, the lead sulfate white-green stuff caking over the terminals if they corrode is toxic and should not be touched with bare hands, and the hydrogen being emitted during charging could pose a fire/explosion hazard if allowed to accumulate (but probably not a concern for a small UPS battery).

    • @d0nj03
      @d0nj03 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GodfreyMann More good news I'm finding is that manufacturers have started to explore options to make UPS models based on lithium (LiFePO4) batteries or supercapacitors/ultracapacitors. Nothing on the mass market that I can see, but Riello in Italy seem to have quite a range of supercap ones (PDF on their website).
      Next up, looking into power conditioners - maybe one of those can give me like 30(?) seconds just to shut down my PC in good order, I don't really need the full x minutes that a UPS promises, since I already know my actual big-battery solution will be a PPS like the EB55.
      LE:
      Nope, no shot. AVRs/power conditioners don't get anywhere near being able to keep the computer online for a quick shutdown, I will still have to use a UPS.

    • @GodfreyMann
      @GodfreyMann 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@d0nj03 thanks for that update on AVRs/power conditioners…I didn’t think they’d be fast enough, but good to get confirmation. The other issue is that in order for your computer to shutdown, it requires the battery to send a signal to the computer usually via Ethernet. But unless those AVR/power conditioners/LiFePO4 batteries have an Ethernet port designed for that purpose, then you’d have to be on hand to shut it down manually. But most people have a life - they aren’t sitting around the house monitoring their servers.
      So I’m inclined to agree that the old lead-acid UPS still seem to be the only game in town.
      For home use, which brands are you looking at? In the UK, APC seem to offer the best value/performance.
      Thanks also for the tip about avoiding touching the white-green caking when lead acid batteries leak.

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not 100% sure. I got this mainly for car camping. I would think it might be on the smaller side capacity-wise for larger appliances. I know that another channel (Homesteadonomics) reviewed the next size larger and he was powering all sorts of tools and appliances for testing. Maybe check that out.

      No I tried it and mines was a small refrigerator it would run down my Bluetti real fast one and it takes a long time to charge and some phones it will not charge on top I called them about this and they said that some androids it will not charge but it wouldn’t charge my iPhone either

    • @d0nj03
      @d0nj03 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem with big (compressor) fridges is they suck a ton of juice when starting up from idle, and your power source needs to be able to handle that. I just checked my small fridge to plan out what power station I need and I found it draws about 65W while it's operating steadily but when it started that operation from idle I saw about 631W for just a moment, almost 10x surge power draw! I'll have to check a few more times and see if my "kill-a-watt" type thing might have missed the actual peak power, but so far I wanna say the EB55 will be able to deal with whatever the real peak is on this thing, since it supposedly does 700 steady and 1400 surge.

    Wonder if the KTOR pedal generator can connect to that charging port?

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think so as long as the connecting cable is the right plug, but I'd recommend you ask Bluetti directly. The 120 V solar panels aren't that much more than the KTOR, and seem like so much less work. But then again, I live in Phoenix where the sun shines all the time, so I may be biased there.

    If only they imlroved the LCD display to show charge in hours and minutes.

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They could definitely improve the display. But I would think that the remaining charge depends on the draw on the unit. So it can only tell you how long it would charge what you have plugged in. So if you change devices that you're powering, it would change the hours and minutes remaining on the display. Still probably more helpful than the 20% intervals they have.

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the best one that I personally have owned. But I guess it all depends on what is important to you in a power station. That said, I'm not sure what power station charges faster. The Jackery certainly doesn't.

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      $0. I received the battery pack and solar panel free of charge in exchange for the review like I said in the video. I specifically said I would not accept payment and would be honest - good or bad - before agreeing to do a review. If a manufacturer doesn't agree to those terms, I won't do a review. I want to be as honest as I can.
