    I've been doing nail art for years after taking a nail tech class 20 years ago. I dropped out so no license. Wish I would've finished. Acrylics were horrible smelling and just hard to work with for me. I saw videos on hard gel and knew that was for me. Time to shape and easier filing were exactly what I needed.
    For the last year I've been practicing with hard gel overlays and extensions both on myself and my friends. My e-file has been a godsend!I now get little to no lifting on my nails or my friends'! I get comments on my nails daily and my friends do,too, and your videos are the reason why! I'm ready to practice acrylics again,too, as I now feel I have the knowledge to get that application right this time around.
    Your calm demeanor and detailed instruction is exactly what teaches people the technique....school teaches the basics and the laws of the business...you teach how to be successful in the business and both are crucial. I'm doing the reverse now...learning successful technique THEN taking the class for licensing so when I'm licensed I hit the ground running.

    "I am not ambidextrous, I can barely say the word." God, thank you for Suzie, the Queen of the Beautiful People club. And thank you so much for discrediting the 'one-bead method', it drives me crazy when other techs focus on making one giant bead and moving faster to get the client out of there instead of the shape and smoothness of the nail.

    Ive been doing my nails for about a year now I do them in gel and when I was Christmas shopping yesterday I got my first complement on how beautiful my nails look and had I just had them done for Christmas, when I said oh no I do them myself she grabbed my hand and said oh my do you really I laughed and said yes I actually just filled them yesterday she then grabbed both of my hands and was intensely looking at them and was amazed at how "professional" they looked ☺
    I thanked her and told her she had made my day

    I actually enjoy doing my right hand. It’s hard and the filing sucks, but I’m more thorough and the nails actually often ends up prettier than my left hand in the end. I’m not a tech yet(I hope to be able to get training in the new year) and I’m 1 year on since I bought my first acrylic started set. And man I have come a long way, just in the recent few times I have been doing my nails they have become much more uniform and thinner. In the beginning they where VERY bulky because I had no idea how they where supposed to look and how easily they would break

    Suzie, my nails have a very strong c curve, they're almost like little 'u' shapes. I tried to use a form and I ended up getting acrylic underneath all of my nails because the form wasn't sitting properly underneath my nail. Do you have any advice or tips I could use?

    • @tashsaysmeow
      @tashsaysmeow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try making a custom form. Suzie recently did a video on how to make your own forms. Try giving that a go. Good luck!

      YamiAshy maybe pinching the forms with your thumbs before putting them on would help

      YamiAshy get some Tammy Taylor forms, her forms come in three different styles to accommodate different nail shapes.

    Suzie you did a great job!🎉 I would definitely use an E fiel. I've also done my non-dominant hand but I did it with Builder gel. I would love to do it with acrylic and dipping powder. Nail art is not my profession but I still love it and is one of my best Hobbies.

      Some highschool allow you to do aprentiships as part of your school load, you would do your apprenticeship instead if one of your subjects. I think you can do it starting in grade 9 or 10. A friend of mine did that to become a hairdresser. You should look into that! Google "Australian School-Based Apprenticeships" for more info. Would be worth talking to your principle about it if it's not something your school is currently offering!

    Yours are my favorite nail videos, and this one was so very helpful. I always wonder which are the best products/brands to use, which are the best brushes, which are the best nail bits. In this tutorial, are you using a ceramic bit? Thanx for sharing your extensive knowledge with us. Best wishes for a happy new year! Your camera person is excellent, and I love the sense of humor the two of you share.

    @NailCareerEducation, one of the best tips I have seen on YT for doing acrylic on you once-dominant hand is to 'Pick up the acrylic with your dominant hand and just pass the brush to your non-dominant hand' That way it won't be to dry or wet. It will save you from a lumpy nail. And all the extra filling.

    I had to chuckle when you said you always offer your left hand to those who wish to look at your nails because I always do the exact same thing! I used to do my own acrylic nails when I was in cosmetology school back in the early 80s. My right hand has always caused me fits. Even now, I can barely polish my right hand or do even very simple nail art designs with stickers. My right hand always just sucks. Right now I have on a red glitter gel polish with little gold and silver nail stickers placed at the beginning of the free edge. My left hand is close to perfect, but my right hand is FAR from it. I was very careful with the gel polish, and it's VERY forgiving for polishing my right hand. But getting the stickers in the right place, on the right angle, is very difficult and so my right and left hands simply never really match. >sigh< Oh well. I try really hard.
