Looping it is ingenious! I’m definitely trying that next time.
I have an old school Marcato built in Italy in the 1970s. It was my nonna’s. She moved to the states in the late 40s but used to always roll out her pasta by hand. Finally in the late 70s, she had a Marcato imported from a machine shop in Rome. I have it and still use it today. And it’s like a fine wine - it’s just gotten better and smoother over time. Back in the day, they were made with wood-wrapped handles. The wood on mine is still in PERFECT condition. It really is a thing of beauty. All that to say that you should never get rid of that machine. Pass it on to your kids and let them pass it on to their children’s children. It’ll last an eternity. And you’d be passing on the art of making homemade pasta. :)
    Salute, cin cin!
