I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, growing up in Vietnam, emigrating to the UK, I spent hours listening to my parents' LPs, Sgt Peppers, Revolver , also elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, formed my appreciation of great song writing into my adulthood. I, too bought into the public discourse that blamed Yoko for the Beatles' break up. Since then, and after I listened to Lennon's final solo album before his untimely assassination, I discovered how deeply he loved Yoko w/ one of the finest love songs ever written in "Woman".
After the Beatles break up, Lennon had only shown the angry, pessimistic side of his personality, often combative and abrasive, sardonic and sarcastic. With "Double Fantasy" it felt like Lennon had discovered his happy place, wrote the wonderful song to his bride, then a wonderful song to his son, Julian etc...it was a great album and showed how much Yoko helped John finally reach a place of happiness and bliss shown through his music. I was devastated when he died my Freshman year of High School, but am glad that he found happiness before he transitioned over, and that was thanks in part to Yoko. Peace.

I think John Lennon’s lyrics about religion are more about how religion can be used to separate and harm others. Pentatonix showed that through who they are as individuals and as a group shows that you can have different religions and cultures and beliefs and still be together and work in harmony for the greater good.

To just say a little more, I agree. I am fairly strong in my belief system. I think religion a belief are different
I felt fairly damaged by religion when I was a kid in the Southern Church.
I came to faith much later and it felt like I’d never heard the sane exact words before
Religion is people faith is God

If you look closer, Mitch and Kirstin have huge heeled shoes on. Avi and Mitch are actually about the same height and Kirstin is really short. Scott and Kevin are more than 6 feet tall so Avi does appear shorter but again Avi is wearing normal mens shoes but because Mitch and Kirstie have very high heels they appear taller than they are. Love both versions. I too remember John like it was yesterday. I love the wall of sound in the Pentatonix performance, and I think John would have loved their take of this beautiful song.

I’m away for a few days and you do 3 of my favorite Pentatonix videos. This still brings me to tears when they hold up HUMAN at the end. Thank you. I enjoy your videos. It’s nice to see a different format. I think I’ve only seen one other reactor who does comparisons. But I like you better. 🥰 I’m going to watch the other two now. 🤭🤗💋

When John Lennon's song first appeared it appealed to me on an intellectual level. But the Pentatonix version brings out an emotional response. I'm an atheist and as such I interpret the message to mean that we shouldn't wait around for God to change the world but come together as the only beings on the planet with the intelligence and the tools to view the planet as a complete organism and work towards preserving it and the life on it for the betterment of all. We are all human but that doesn't just make us special, it should also make us responsible.

People are too quick to parse Imagine as an anti-religious song. I was raised Catholic in England and can speak to a lot of the hypocrisy and divisiveness of the religious machinery. Don't get me wrong, there are many, many good 'religious' people who follow the teachings, they have my full respect. But the vast majority of people use religion as a cudgel, a way to make them feel more superior, as a guilt mechanism, none of what is in Christ's teachings. He hated 'the church' he hated priests and he hated false prophets, but those are the same people who weaponize his teachings. Anyway, Imagine is about how things like religion and governments turn people against each other for things such as belief, skin colour, and nationality. Like you said, it's not about your religious 'spirituality' it's about religion as a controlling body that tells you what to say, what to believe and who to believe, just like governments do.
Oh and Catholics get an automatic "Get Out of Jail Free" card every Sunday at confession, so they're allowed to be as bad as possible as long as they confess? what a deal!
As I said, I was raised Catholic, THEY turned me against their hypocritical teachings, but I do respect the teachings of Christ, among them the most important: "Treat others as you would be treated" If cultures just followed the that one rule, *Imagine* how much better we'd all get along? Cheers

The best Imagine cover must be Chris Kläfford in my opinion. He was on AGT and the crowd cried, and he won the swedish show. Would be nice hear your reaction. But you and suesue might done that in your other channel.

PTX's -cover- upgrade of "Imagine" always leaves me in tears. I remember the evening news from December 8, 1980 like it was yesterday - John Lennon ambushed and murdered in front of Yoko as they were coming home, by an assassin who waited around for the police to show up, as if he thought he'd done something praiseworthy. The shock and anguish remain as strong now as they were 42 years ago, and John's masterpiece always brings it back to me. I wish he could have seen this; it would have made him proud.
This is the *one* song that Pentatonix can't perform as well live as they did in the video. Oh, the vocals are perfect, as always with Pentatonix, but that first card that they pass around is totally dependent on electronic manipulation in the studio, and it's the cards that turn this performance from a mere cover into an upgrade. I'm looking forward to the day when electronic ink technology finally catches up and they'll have a double-sided programmable card that they can use in live performances.

I was in 7th grade when Jhon Lennon died I was walking home from school and high school kids kept passing me They didn't get out at the same time so that was stranger but stranger they were crying. Later I found our they let them out early because of the terrible news . That was my first aware of the impact the band had on the world ..

I love this PTX cover. Their message is so important we are all human. It is just “imagine” not make it happen in a certain way or do a certain thing.

Any day I get to hear and see John Lennon is a good one, so thanks. I remember the outcry against Yoko Ono very well, but I think it was just a case of the fans needing someone to blame for the devastation they felt at the Beatles disbanding. And I don’t think any of the Beatles ever countered that assumption publicly, or at least it wasn’t featured in the press, so there you be. You can blame Scott for throwing off the heights of PTX members. He’s 6’3” so everyone else looks tiny in comparison. That, and the high heels worn by Mitch and Kirstin. Peace from Ohio …

Actually Avi is taller than Mitch & Kirstin, but it looks funny because of the forced perspective of the the way they're standing in a V/semicircle & Avi is furthest from the camera, plus Mitch & Kirstin are in mega high heels. He's a little shorter than Kevin, & Scott of course is tallest.

      Sorry to disappoint Deborah
I thought I pointed out earlier that I’m not a PTX reaction channel but merely take two songs and compare them. As this was a John Lennon song I chose to spend more time on them
Personally I agree, I honestly was never a fan of the Beatles or john and yoko
I must say that I saw an interview with Yoko recently and she was very interesting
Anyway, I hope you stick around but if not no worries
