I had the pleasure and delight of seeing TLDP open for Florence + The Machine in Cork. Aside from Florence of course, they held that auidenece in the palm of their hands from start to finish. Florence's influence and artistry was heavily evident and it was beautiful to see her inspiration and music be passed onto the next generation of female musicians. All in all, they were fantastic! I'll absolutely see them again.
when i first listened to/watched the music video for my lady of mercy i thought "god, this is deeply bisexual". as a bi girl who was raised catholic and went to catholic school and all that i just related to it so deeply but i had no idea the song was exactly about that experience! i'm so in love with this band, i'm entranced by them
My backstory is similar to yours, and a few of their tracks connect with me for whatever reason. It's earworms that trigger emotional responses I only occasionally find in music. Top shelf alt-pop. I hope they continue to dig and refine.
Hearing them talk about being known to this generation because of the fifa soundtrack is like people my age learning about bands because of the Tony Hawks pro skater sound track… Maybe the next THPS soundtrack should be their next goal
saw them live, still haven't recovered. i'm so glad i got to see them in a small venue where they could play with the crowd. i got to hold Abigail's hand and talked to her and Georgia afterwards, they are beyond lovely in person too. i even ran into Emily in the bathroom. i'm glad i got to experience that before they sell out the huge venues where they won't be able to play with the audience as much! What Abigail said about the collective catharsis is 100% true, we were all just screaming at each other and losing our voices and it was the most magical thing
saw them two more times since i commented this and i stand by this! i got to meet them again and they remembered me haha. Abigail waved my pride flag around on stage and i got her and the whole band to sign it and i will treasure this thing forever and ever. i am so in love with this band it's unreal
@@afriendlygoblinThat’s so cool i wish i could see them!! Saw their last outing at the Apollo London on the 19th October 24 ,the end of their current tour . They are mind blowingly incredible live, I was shell shocked by the end. I'm a 68 year old grandad ,these songs they create are obviously transcending age groups ,wasn't expecting to be out watching a girl group, but glad I did and look forward to the next one .
As a queer girl from burnley, lancashire who was strictly raised within irish roman catholicism, I was immediately taken by TLDP's subversion of religious imagery and queer overtones, especially in nothing matters! Sometimes you don't even realise how much this hyper-specific (to me, anyway) representation matters to your own personal identity until you see it right there in front of you and get to bask in all the warmth and enjoyment it makes you feel 😌✨ I'm just so happy to be able to consider my self a fan of theirs at this stage and the anticipation of knowing we're about to witness their meteoric rise is just thrilling x
I haven't heard such a brilliant album since Peter Gabriel's I/O album. Definitely the best British band in a long time. And in this year 2024, they simply outdo everything.
I’ve just discovered this band following their appearance on Jools Holland. Instant awe! Every now and again (rarely) a band has such an emotional impact on me. Without doubt the lead singer is the star of the show. She’s amazing. Such presence. But what really got me was the feeling that the whole band were united as one. They all appeared to “grow” as each song developed. There was an obvious unity and friendship between them that really touched me. And above all what great music! Amazing songs and great musicians.
6:50 The XOYO show filmed by Lou Smith that Emily mentions (the clip they showed) was my first exposure to the band. I was hooked by the end of the first song, Burn Alive. I will forever be grateful to him!
