For years I have used 10 mil clear plastic bags used for asbestos removable, they fit nicely inside a backpack or bike pannier. by law they have to be indestructible and will last for years with no leaks unless you drag the bag across the camp site. I bought an endless lifetime roll of them years ago when I was guiding wilderness trips and gave them to the trippers.

We had our house fumigated about a year ago and they left us with about 100 Nylofume bags to store our food and when I realized they were the same bags Litesmith sells I was like, jackpot I'll never have to buy pack liners ever again.

    What a great find! Thanks.
As a side note, your reviews are fantastic. I just don't see why anyone would give a thumbs down.

About this stuff sac phase of mine
It has been 50 years already
    So I’ll embrace the suck
Dry bags to keep gear dry
and dry bags to keep wet gear away from dry gear
    So no pack liner needed
My method works for me and keeps me super organized
The perfect cure for absent mindedness

Litesmith has several details worked out. They’ve got a great little Nitecore mod for the Nu-25, Trail Toes in various volumes, terrific hammock accessories, and so on.

Thanks for this advice which has been very useful to me. Nylofume bags are so light and tough it's almost unreal. They are priceless, yet so cheap. They truly are the perfect pack liner and you're the first one I ever heard talk about them. Thanks again!

I need to try this type bag as a liner! Similar to these, I use a turkey cooking bag to keep my sleeping bag in. Nice find! 🤓

My litesmith liner fail miserably on my last trip And it was the first time using it. The seam at the bottom gets holes in it really easily while I do agree that the litesmith does not stretch where it’s put together is where the issue is for me. I’ll stick with my trash compactor bag gladly. if anyone wants to give there’s up I’ll take theirs as well.

Nice review- I switch back and forth between the lite Smith and thermarest pump sack when I take my neoaire. 2 oz penalty but blows up the pad in three pumps with no mold.

Great info as always. Wondering how a 1 mil bag could be stronger than a 2.5 mil compactor bag? I like the clear material.

Hiya everyone, would anyone have a hack for fixing the bottom of the liner in a squared off fashion? I find that I lose a small amount of pack volume with the envelope style form of these liners. Thanks y'all

Does anyone now hat Nylofume actually is? I only saw on article that said it was a nylon coated polymer....that could mean almost anything. How does it compare in puncture resistance to the GG bag? i think the GG bag is 2mil thick and made of low density Polyethelene (LDPE) right? How thick is the Nylofume? What happens once you somehow get a puncture in one? Does it loose all its strengh?

  • @Reese842
    @Reese842 6 ปีที่แล้ว

The transparency is the only value here. I tried your bag of choice and found it too narrow, the trash compactor bag is wide and long enough and I cut it down a bit to make the fit just right. I haven't worried at all about the liner at all. To each his/her own. Plus my arc haul has no sharp edges inside the pack like my osprey did with the hydration port hook near the top.

same here use a katabatic V40 40l & have no need for a liner since the V40 material is lined with a waterproof coating. it also far stronger than cuben & will not breakdown over time
