Very good breakdown of the mechanics of the lacrosse shot. One small point on your explanation of the difference between throwing a football/baseball and shooting a lacrosse ball - throwing a baseball or football is actually not an arm motion, either. Just like lacrosse shooting, it's almost entirely a rotational movement. Almost all of the velocity in a throw comes from hip-shoulder angle separation in the core rotation, just like in a lacrosse shot.

Excellent stuff. An advanced concept is "cock the wrist as you move forward on the shot". This delays the cocking of the wrist and activates the Stretch Shortening Cycle of the muscles/tendons for extra velocity/power. The SSC is the magic in plyometrics and applies all over our bodies, most importantly in running and jumping. But it can be used in the lacrosse shot to generate more power. There is a good Wikipedia article on SSC. BTW, you have fantastic videos. I look forward to your next one!

Thank you very much it helps a lot, can you talk a bit on the cradle before shooting?

Like I saw people cradle with the bottom hand during shooting and passing instead of the upper hand, but I found it is more difficult to secure the ball in the pocket that way. what should be the focus when I practice the bottom hand cradle?

Wow Sean your videos and content are amazing! My son is starting his 1st yr of lacrosse and your videos are teaching him so much. He had the alligator arms you talked about and we also watched another video about having a shooting cradle that totally blew his mind (as he was power cradling before shooting and passing). Keep up the great work. We are fans for life. PS: do you still have the free workout you referenced? I tried to subscribe but the link doesn’t seem to be working. If not no worries. We will be binge watching your content over the next little while :)

It looks like he's dabbing when he pulls his arms back to shoot lol. This was really helpful. My high school coach never went over this stuff, I would always shoot over hand with my arms stiff like at 1:34 not much speed or power. Even the varsity team would never do this.
