The mathews fan boys are funny. Sure they make a great bow but its kinda like the archery version of the UFC's Belal Muhammed. Hes not particularly fast, not athletic, wants to wrestle a lot, and has little to no chance of getting a tko but god dammit the guy wins and thats mathews. The arent the best at anything imo except marketing but guys act like the vertix 1,2,3,4, and 5 were the best thing since sliced bread. They do hold their value though on the resale market which is good because you will want to sell it after shooting hoyts alpha x33, bowtech core ss, or the mach 30
awesome video! love these longer style videos. i personally think pse has some underrated bows and they are making a killer couple of bows this year. keep the videos rolling🤙🏼🤘🏼
I remember when I first seen these at Lancaster, I wish I didn't overlook them! Now I can't wait to get one. Great video brother. The one thing that worries me is the bow being a 30 ata and I am a 30 inch draw. But from what I'm researching it seems like it shoots like a 32/33 ata bow.
Appreciate you! It groups at distance like a longer bow as a result of its dynamic brace height. The string angle is the only thing I highlight for people. I shoot it at 30.5 and I find that it’s a joy to shoot! You’ll love it!
@@jeauxgoubeaux6264 Man that's great to hear because my draw is 30/30.5 on a variety of bows. I live like 20 minutes from Lancaster, I'll definitely be checking one out soon. Every time I go to Lancaster, I ALWAYS spend more then I plan to lol
Thanks for your thoughts, I am debating purchasing the Mach 30 for my hunting bow and transitioning my Mach 34 to my backup/target bow. This helps a lot. Have you tried the MACH 30 EC2 80lb? if so thoughts, worth it?
That sounds like a great plan! As far as 80’s on an EC2 I have that on my 34 and loved it. On the 30 it’s gonna feel a little stiffer because of the overall size of the platform. It would be totally doable more personal preference. Factoring in the 6” brace height the Mach 30 has it is plenty fast where I didn’t feel I had to build it with 80’s to get the fps out of my arrow build which is nice! That being said EC2 with 70 pound limbs is a dream to draw and the speed is phenomenal so I don’t think you can go wrong!
What TAC do you hope to build the bow for, which TAC do you hope to go to? (Wondering if I might see you.) I have the 2019 Carbon Stealth currently, have loved it but am ready for a new model. Am hung up on the smaller bow (one of those people you mention in this video). I have a Treestand GX also (2016 I believe) which is a 28', so I have a "short bow". Not sure if I want another, or wait until something in-between this and the 34' comes out. 🤞 I shot this at the Southeast TAC, and it shoots great, but I didn't get to shoot at distance or targets - just there at the tent w/target 5 yards away. Feels nice. I want to see someone shoot at distance, what groups are achieved "real world". The Outdoor Life video talks about it, but doesn't have anyone try for distance. Thanks for your post, having me look at this model again v. waiting for the next size up. 🤔 (We're also going to IN/KY TAC, any chance you are?)
Hey thanks! I’ll be at PA and I’m bringing the 30 specifically to show how well it does at distance. The bow is very competent at distance with its dynamic brace height of 7” it’s no shock there!
Did PA three years ago, great event - enjoy! Look forward to seeing you post video from that shoot. Who doesn't live getting a new bow??? But at the prices they are now, you have to make sure which one is right for you. So torn on this 30 or if there is an in-between this and the current 34" coming next year. Thanks again for the explanation you give. 🏹
Put the bow in a draw board at full draw take a string vertically from the back of the top cam to the back bottom cam and measure from the grip to that string. You’ll find most bows you test (PSE excluded) dynamic brace (brace height at full draw) become shorter resulting in an “argued” decreased forgiveness/stability.
Higher brace height is considered more “forgiving” because the arrow comes off the string a tad bit sooner (shortening the power stroke). Which is why higher brace heights are typically slower. Brace height at full draw? 🤔
The average hunter will shoot a Mach 30 better than a Lift. It’s just a more forgiving bow. The Mathews holds like a 5” brace speed bow. Target archers with consistent form and mental control will have less issues. The average hunter in a ground blind or treestand taking an off angle shot will not have consistent grip pressure. Error gets magnified when shooting broadheads. I think what Mathews is currently chasing in the hunting line is starting to sacrifice torque stability and making the riser straighter and limbs shorter on the lift did nothing to help with that. Although they will win over all the guys who believe the riser reflex measurement myth which is unfortunately a majority of the archery industry right now. Can’t wait for Mathews to change the limb angle to match the title and give up on this torquey extreme past parallel setup. It’s just too unforgiving at angled shots for most hunters. The long riser on a Lift is really only a factor if you don’t use a stabilizer. Mach 30 lets you mount the stabilizer lower and farther out giving you increased moment of inertia. PSE went for a simple traditional design and it really paid off. Now if they could give us something like the stay afield press system it would make it even better.
I would assume not. Considering you jumped ship and moved to hoyts rx series carbon bows. If it was half as good as this video is about to portray, you'd still be with pse regardless of pay opportunities. Your influence and opinion towards this bow revolves around being paid to make people buy the bow brand you shoot. There's been a few of you tube influences that have jumped ship from one brand to the other, with the words this is the best bow to date.
Matthews owners have to justify their 50% markup on parts by turning a blind eye to everything else...sunk cost fallacy is real when it comes to Matthews. Yes, they're great...but talking to someone who shoots a Matthews is like talking to my uncle about how his 1984 Dodge is "the greatest vehicle ever produced" and why he'll never drive anything else but a Dodge.
The updates on the Lift are great on paper, I bought a 29.5 release day, harvested a great buck with it beginning of January but ended up selling it because I couldn't group as well with it as my other bows
The only thing great about a lift is its resale value once you get tired of it. Not the fastest, not the lightest albeit they did some great work there, not the best tech with its two vags for 700 dollar bridge lock stab set up...... so what makes it the bow of the yr?
I bought the lift 29.5 recently because of my short 27.5 draw. I am struggling mightily to group consistently. It's given me lots of grief and anxiety. I hope I can get it sorted out
What bridge did you crawl out from under? I have held 3 of these “flagship” lifts and the worst finishing both in aluminum and paint I’ve seen beside a Bear “starter bow” it’s sad that 3/3 that I’ve been excited to get my hands on look like garbage right out of the box. It would have to shoot flawlessly (in my case it didn’t) so I’d love to see the lift you received
I shot it and I wasn’t impressed. I really expected to be after picking it up and seeing how light it is and all the machine work done to the riser but the draw is rough and there was more hand shock than other bows I shot.
Like hell, it has to go to the lift. I watched so many hype videos on the mathew lift . I couldn't wait to shoot that thing. They had a couple at my bow shop. So, 3 of us shot that bow and thought it was a piece of crap. We all hated it. My friend had actually had an order in for one, and he canceled it after shooting it. So no, the bow of the year definitely doesn't go to the lift.
